Michaela Jill Murphy is an American voice, film, and stage actress. She is known as the voice of Toph Beifong in the animated Nickelodeon television series "Avatar: The Last Airbender". Michaela's voice has been featured in several animated movies, including Meet the Robinsons, Over the Hedge, The Ant Bully, Finding Nemo, The Emperor's New School, and Brother Bear 2.

9:06 What I legit love about this scene is that Zuko just straight up borrowed the guard's weapons the instant Jet comes in and draws his swords. 😂 In his mind, he's like, "Finally! A reason to beat up a customer" and casually grabs weapons from the police. 😂😂😂 Zuko's skills with the dual-wielding swords have always been 🔥🔥🔥

I love their confusion over Bosco being just a normal bear! The thing is in The Waterbending Master, there wasn't even a reaction from Sokka about what a bear is when Sokka gives Princess Yue a carved fish which she mistakes for a bear. So because of Ba Sing Se's massive walls, it was the only place besides Kyoshi Island that wasn't conquered by Chin. The name Long Feng (龍鳳) translates to "Dragon Phoenix", which stands for the royal throne in Chinese tradition. The translation is also similar to the Cantonese colloquialism describing a person or group as "putting on a show of dragons and phoenixes", which means to put on an elaborate show with the intention to confuse, deceive, distract or misdirect. While the aesthetic of the Lower Ring of Ba Sing Se in ATLA was inspired by several Chinese towns, especially in the Yangtze Province, in The Legend of Korra, the state of the Lower Ring was modeled after Kowloon Walled City, a former slum in Hong Kong that was once the most densely populated location in the entire world and was known for being plagued by triads. The concept of the city's seclusion was inspired by the history of the Forbidden City in Beijing. Ba Sing Se's division by social level was also inspired by the Forbidden City, and the same inner and outer rings used to divide many ancient Chinese cities.

Aesthete means a person who appreciates and/or sensitive to art and such. And in Irohs sense he is appreciate of Jasmine/Rare teas and is sensitive to the taste and smell of tea and will not settle for anything less than perfection.

I first learned Mandarin in middle school! The Chinese characters for Yin Yang are 陰陽 (traditional) or 阴阳 (simplified) and it's a completely different meaning from Yin Hao. Written in Chinese, Yin Hao is 銀毫 and it means "silver tip". I love how Clancy Brown is not only Long Feng, but also Bosco! In The Serpent's Pass, the map the Gaang was used is five thousand years old, so that shows that Ba Sing Se has been around for quite some time! Their monorail system is so cool! The monorail was the brainchild of Earth King Yi Ming, an ingenious but impatient ruler who was tired of having to spend two full days traveling from one end of his city to the other. He tasked his engineers with finding a solution, and so they built this system in 270 BG. And you brought an extremely good point about the divisions of cities, as an urbanist, I completely agree. It reminds me of how much highways have historically gutted American cities by destroying dense downtown neighborhoods, worsening air quality, torpedoing property values, dividing many Black and Latino communities and increasing car dependence. It is the job of North American urbanists to advocate and reverse these changes to create walkable, bike-friendly, and transit-oriented communities.

It was so cute how toph and katara had a little girl time together!☺️ I really love the scene where they stand up to those girls who were making fun of toph! Every time I see that scene, i'm like "YEAH! YOU SHOW EM! XD" 6:38 I had a bit of an argument with someone who claimed the humor in avatar was "childish". So this would be the perfect thing for me to tell them. "Sick of the humor in avatar? That's like being sick of breathing!" 😂

Yin Hao. Chinese language (Mandarin) is a language where the exact same sound and even tone can be different words. We recognize them usually through the context of the conversation. In the context of Yin Hao being a type of tea. Yin Hao here is 银毫. This 'Yin' means Silver. 'Hao' means tiny/minute/fine/small. "Jasmine Silver Tip" ❤

Another interesting episode, where after the entire season we wait to see ba sing se, we find out that it may not be what it seems. The tone in this episode is reasonably creepy and sets up where the rest of the season is going pretty well.

I’m actually drinking my own version of Jasmine Green Tea! I call it GWG! The pronunciation is similar to that of Swig! GWG, is an acronym of Green White Green! The first Green is that of Jasmine Green Tea! The white is that of Sugar! *Cane Sugar, not the other kind* The second Green is that of Lime! Brew one bag of tea in preferred cup for 3-5 minutes at 200°F *95°C* in teapot. Or two minutes in microwave for a quick brew. Pour preferred amount of sugar into tea, *Minimum 1 and a half scoop, measuring spoon* add one half of slice of lime to the tea, stir until sugar completely dissolved. Enjoy!

It would be such an inspiration to see his journey on becoming who he is now in the original ATLA show. ❤ For that matter, I want to see who he married. We only know his son was killed during the siege of Ba Sing Se but what about his unmentioned/unnamed wife? What happened to her? She was probably one of the luckiest girls if she and Iroh fell in love.
