Your hive is excellent - definitely a first for sailing channels as far as I know! Thanks for taking care of them - pollination is a big problem due to honey be loss in many areas and you are helping.

I am a beekeeper and for these cases I have prepared a special container with a fine mesh which I place in front of the vacuum cleaner. I set the vacuum cleaner to the lowest power setting and vacuum the bees. I disconnect the bees and plug the holes. I move them to a new location at least 3km away from the collection site and place them in a hive with combs already in it. The bees are doing OK.

I am not a Beekeeper but I just prefer more confident assertive people when they claim to be professional, I would bring the empty hive and place it on the dockside 5ft from the boat (why can't a Beekeeper tell you where the Queen will be? Is she under or in that honeycombe) and blow smoke in the hole, then rush inside and take the honeycomb and a handful of bees and put them in the new hive, hoping the rest will follow. And transfer handfuls of bees to the new box the rest of the day. Have you tried asking them to move? There's a girl who has a pet Bee and it understands a few commands. You might have to ask in their language though. Best of Luck.

Well done for saving the bees 🐝 a worthy effort. I've had a bees nest in me garden , got stung but hey ho 😅 at the moment I've got a robins nest in my house side alley , so I've put on hold any diy drilling and stuff untill they've moved out in a few weeks 🐦

I would be scared shitless to have so many bees in my place and yet you are so calm. Once I was stung by five of them all at the same time and it was awful....I would get rid of them asap..

I have a twenty-foot sea kayak I haven't used in years. That trip must have been a blast! Hopefully you find the queen honey bee soon and coax the workers into a new hive box outside.

Beekeeper / live remover of 20 yrs here. Look up "forced abscond". You could have those bees out safely in a day. My only worry about leaving them is not being able to get to them without taking apart parts of the boat. At the end of the day you know your boat, so that's your call. That swarm doesn't look too big so I don't think they will grow too quickly. I would advise against taking any more honey than a bite or two since they looked kinda low on stores from the video. That guy seems to actually know what he's doing too, from what I heard him say (which isn't always the case). Good luck with the bees and the boat!

If I’m remembering right, because I also did see the black one, it was a drone bee. There were actually quite a few that looked like it, because I thought it was the queen too at first, until I started noticing more of them. I am pretty sure the queen was already tucked way back in the hive at this point. When I helped bee-keep a while ago, the queen looks really really really different from the others. She is much more slender than the rest.

Yea, some people prefer them. I’ve only seen two propane outboards in my life. But supposedly they work well.

Please take the bee honey to the Haiti border and help feed those people..take vids of the whole thing...I have heard there are Jamaician Priests that can help you get the bees to follow you...See if you can get the Clintons to help you with their Global Initiative.

I could not care less if you want to risk YOUR life on those crazy dirt roads but to take your Dog in that bag and drive around in an unsafe manner and constantly put that dog in danger. Just think how you would feel if god forbid anything happened on one of your unsafe motor bike adventures with your dog. (Overloaded motorbike as well.)
