Oh my! Such beautiful, crystal clear, water in the Mediterranean. Its beauty is so alluring and I totally understand why you love sailing in this area of the world. I hope you take us back in your new Portofino when she’s completed. 😊 I so love the factory tours and updates on your new catamaran. It’s amazing how each update finds her taking shape! I have to admit that when the hulls were upside down it took a lot of imagination to grasp the visual but now that she’s upright it’s like a transition from a cocoon into a gorgeous butterfly! 🦋 Estimated completion date of 10 months will go so fast! I assume when the workload gets closer to the finite details you both will be staying closer to the factory for the more day to day decisions. Wow, those hulls look fully _huge_ right now guys! Can't wait to see it all connected.👍 🌈Colours: Polished aluminium sides will save a truckload for other expenses every few years. Cool and comfy SeaDeck topsides in white or soft/light grey.
That Portofino is going to be beautiful. The color of the coastal waters on that beautiful Turquoise Coast would be lovely on that yacht. What a wonderful place to explore and enjoy while you wait. Turkey is the number 1 place I want to to see in the future.

Thanks Keith - you're the first person to mention the What's up Doc segment and glad it will be useful. We are looking for others to comment if they think it is valuable or if we should just stick to the REAL sailing issues.... We do think there is so much bad attitudes and mental ill health and we know these processes are phenomenally effective.

I love the hull design at the stern, the way the chine becomes a planing surface. It's the best I've seen yet at a performance catamaran hull design to consider itself as a planing Hull not a displacement hull. I think this yachts performance will surprise even you guys! Very well done and can't wait to see it sailing! Thanks guys! 😃
Dear "HW" - thank you for your kind words! You are the first person that has mentioned the hull shape for improved performance and think that it will sail faster then even we believe!!! Nice... We can[t wait to get the boat on to the water to see how she does actually sail so that will be really exciting!
Thanks TH, yes we live in hope and there are some Red Sea issues that are making deliveries to Dubai difficult - but we will see! The build here was forecast to be 2 years and so far they have been on track... Fingers crossed!
Glad you like it, John! It does become much more clear as the build progresses - some of the previous videos showed the upside down hulls but that takes a bit of imagination!
Great whats up doc segment in this video and sound advice for any situation. Tough one of the colour choice, for me it would be dark under the water line perhaps black and light above the WL, perhaps a light blue or green.
Hi my Lovelies, that was a great vlog, I felt like I was there with U both, thanks. We can play soccer on the deck of the 52, won't that be interesting🤣. I think Mohomad had been taste testing in his bar 🍹🍸 If I may indulge and express my feeling about the storm, I absolutely love Storms and wished I was there helping u, I was blessed at birth with the capability of keeping my head in extreme situations and have faced many. I seem to thrive when I'm helping people or animals. But hey, I knew u and the boat were very safe. Now the colours, we need to see some swatches before we make such huge decisions, but for the hull, I like aqua marine or a duck blue. I'm so excited for u both and ur family, she will be Stunning. Much Respect XX oh and Barefoot was listing about 3° to starboard whilst at the dock, no acceptable Captain!!!🤣😁🇦🇺
I would think a dark color would show the dirt more. So any pastel color that speaks to you would probably work. It’s impossible to make that boat look bad though.

With an Aluminium built boat, what options are available for the deck surfaces, besides Teak (fake teak, paint with non slip textures, etc) to make them less slippery, and which do Portofino find owners request the most? Great rational advice in this episode. Thanks. Oh..P..S. Dark Blue with red pin stripping - like you see on older slipper yachts.
hi Garth and thanks for the comment and that you liked the crisis management section. We are getting cork on some of the outside surfaces (collar than artificial teak and lower maintenance than real teak. Thanks for the colour suggestion - sounds like it oozes quality and speed!
Loved your narrative Eli, Turkey is so vibrant and your narrative had me feeling like I was there with you both. Great minds segment was awesome, controlling your emotional brain is key to dealing with any crisis. How good does the Portofino look, looking forward to the next epeisode revealing the interior. make the paint like the paint has been splashed on and each splash a different bright colour , if you understand what I'm saying ....... a white background and the splashes of paint on the front half of the Yacht
Hi Nessuno - absolutely Martina who is one of the naval architects for Portofino is very much Italian! We've shown her on the videos before but this time did not introduce her - my apologies!
We will let folk the total the cost when we are done. Still making decisions on sails, gear, dinghies etc all that change the final numbers but we have share the ball park way back at the start of last year before we had chosen some of the higher end options like performance sails.
Hi Geoffrey, thanks very much for your question and we did seriously look at the Odisea before we commented to Portofin. The reasons we went for the significantly more expensive option of PF52 was because of the all the important features that come with the Portofino - front cockpit, transom doors, much greater space on board (shoulder and flared hulls), Kick up centreboard if you hit anything (when I spoke to Odisea they did not even have sacrificial tips to their daggerboard so I advised them to add that...), dedicated engine rooms, compressed air throughout, lifting platform on stern, great fit out features and more. I am sure the Vietnamese builders are very good as they seem to have years of experience so hopefully the final result is great too! Because it was missing so many of a wish list features, it did not suit us even though the price was favourable....
Docs can i ask you to look into installing a washing machine either with a microplastics filter built in or better adding one to the waste water outlet. They do exist and man made fibers from clothing washing going into the environment are a a major contribution to. Nano and micro plastics in the ecosystems globally. They are also increasingly being found to be sources of increased health risks.. including premature births. They are already every where in every living body and cells and organs. Nature is slow at removing such man made contaminants... it will if we reduce the inputs ...this is low hanging immediate impact stuff. Like the local fish and crustaceans... you end up eating. As for the boat colours😊 light reflective cabin tops... and decking white or silver but a possibly bold colour panel stripe to pick the boat out on the hull sides ..in stormy grey green waters.. ive seen explorer and race boats cats and trimarans with high viz markings on the undersides of the bridge deck. It made an inverted boat easier to spot from the air in a very stormy foamy sea where white just disappeared. The other is to apply a mural or vinyl wrap design to the outer hull sides and possibly the inner bow areas. I've seen some very imaginative designs..even just black on white but there are some natural artists out there who can work wonders ... How about an A Torres straight x ray art out line of a Humpback whale and other marine life ... ive seen some fine examples. 🤔🌊🏝️🌀🌌🦈🐬🐳🐟🐠
Those are great ideas, Clive- to add the filter to the outlet water pipes - should not be hard! Nice thoughts about the colour and design of the hulls. Absolutely agree with the light colour for the top decks and the reflective or contrasting colour to highlight the shape and for visibility!
