Just perfect! The camera setup and the focal length you were using almost had us in the boat with you. That extra lead in the keels looks like it has made all the difference. She looks nice and stiff in those conditions. She just settles in the groove and powers on. Looks like you have created a little gem!

Damm Wave Rover is now sailing beautiful and stable in those conditions. You and your naval architect really hit kind of a sweet spot for a small but roomy hull, and the experiences from you and other builders will help to optimze it. (And the inside and deck can be modified as needed by the builder.) Should have added a wide door to my basement, the room would be bigh enough, but only rivers nearby... ;-)

Report on how the mods to the boat during the refit are working out? I’d guess the extra ballast helps heavier air performance by letting you carry more sail in a wind. Slight penalty in light air?Quantify the tradeoff? The friction reduction in the AP prolly helps in light apparent wind - curious how that’s working and if any downside. Other changes?

Hi Alan, very excited to watch the progress of your journey. Thanks for all the detailed sharing. Please pardon me for my ignorance, as I'm only a 'youtube' sailor. I can't help by feel nervous about the risk of falling overboard. As there isn't a footwell, where you stand at the cockpit seems rather high. The railing surrounding it also has a lot of 'holes' and a substantive gap at the sides. Sudden jerkings from waves may exert extraordinary forces that can throw a person overboard easily. Your safety is of the utmost concern of everyone. Hope you can review again the safety in this regard before you set off for the long voyage across the Atlantic. Do keep safe. God bless.

Thanks for the tip about Iodine. Makes sense, since we evolved from sea creatures where Iodine is most abundant. I'll make sure to buy Iodised salt from now on - better than nothing I suppose.

she gets under way quickly guess that's a Junk thing. But also light and nimble helps. Looks like a halliard stuff bag would be handy. It was always a thing on my boat lines were always tidy as I HATE standing on rope even more important with your cockpit layout.

Boat seems a little stiffer. Attributed in part to good stowage. At around 13:25 it looks like you’re in the bay proper, you’ve apparently settled on the sail plan because you coiled down. A pretty remarkable little craft. You know if you were to forego striking out across the Atlantic and only poked your nose into various nooks and crannies along the coast you would have any number of small stories to tell. Your boat is small enough to go where people work and live. Just a thought.

@@robkunzig5795A sort of thinking person’s tour of where the water touches. There are any number of channels featuring humans against the sea, we all know that sucks, it’s unidimensional blah blah…….. As near as I can see there are none featuring a traveling host talking with historians, naturalists, working water families and presenting all the element of a more interesting and larger picture. Oh, I do go on, sorry.
