Did that climb a few years back, waited till the 5th or 6th day of some 70,80 and 90 mile per days cycling, to try and get myself tip top. Set off early with my light jacket as I expected cool temperatures at altitude. Noticed something off. It was the first humid day of my trip. What a game changer. Jelly babies saved the day, threw a couple in my gob as a treat every 5 minutes on the climb back up. Unforgettable climb.

Quite right - you just don't appreciate it until you've done it - the way once you've gone through the guardians of the hairpins it shows you what you have left to do - on a good day it gives you a rush - on a bad day its a dark moment looking up & seeing a massive coach looking tiny - seemingly miles up above you.

did Sa Calobra last October. ha d the whole decent to myself . a few cars and cyclist going up . but nothing going down. rode from port d pollenca 60 miles . 6000 ft of climbing .

Thanks 👍 Theres probably not much in it from Alcudia if you cut straight across to old town Pollensa and up Fermenia, we set off at about 7 and climbed out of Sa Calobra by 12.30. We did have coffee at the Repsol and at the bottom of Sa Calobra before the climb.

Great video. Please can you advise what camera / mic you used and how it was mounted please? I have not much done descending lately or cycling for that matter. Any tips for going down sa calobra. I want to take it an easy pace.

We use GoPro 12 but Insta and DJI make good quality action cams too. We chest mount them so our hands are free for cycling, they are fitted with foam wind covers to help cut out wind noise. No need to rush down Sa Calobra in fact it's the perfect time to get photos 👍 Riding up is the gradient is quite consistent so it doesn't take long to find a rhythm. Good luck...

whats the ideal wheel/tire setup for 90days in Mallorca? only gonna be riding solo and at approx 250watts. should I bring 40mm wheels or 55mm wheels with with 28c and ultralight tubes on both? 100gram weight diff but worried about how windy it is to use the deep wheels? also are the roads all around the island clean and clear of broken glass etc? or do you have to take the weight penalty and run tubeless?

We had breeze but no real wind that caused a problem with bike handling. We took our lightest wheels due to the climbing but in my opinion most of the efficiency gains and losses tend to cancel each other out over a few rides. We ran 28mm tyres which proved perfect. Maybe comfort is the best choice if you're going for long days or long climbs. All the best for your trip...👍
