This episode is dedicated to Giles Fairweather, (ex) Abbott Racing and general SAAB legend! "Keep the videos coming!" he said, so here's the next installment, just for you, buddy! 😂 Thanks for watching, I'm honoured! 😉👍
Hi Martyn, I commented on your video a few months back. I am the young Danish guy who was going to buy a Saab 9000. Just wanted to update. The seller only replied once with bad blurry pictures of the car even after I called and texted a million times. So no 9000. I went and bought a 2006 9-3 Hirsch sedan instead , couldnt resist. I couldnt be any happier, it's great. It's good to see your project is coming along Cheers!
6:05 That temperature linkage was a pain on my old '900S.... The valve that it connected to in the firewall was corroded or something, and it just wouldn't turn easily anymore. Rather than replacing it, and having to re-flush the coolant system (which I would never have thought to do at the time) I just would pull the speaker from the top, reach down in with some pliers and manually adjust the valve in there in the spring and fall. ;D It might be worth reconnecting it through the speaker opening when you get to that point...
Looking good! Would have been a good chance to replace the two bulbs for the heater control valve with LEDs, but you can still do it through the radio hole. The purple and gray wires are for those bulbs. I obtained mine from Amazon. It’s also a good idea to coat the edges of the entire facia assemble with a coating of Vasoline as it does wonders for eliminating the plastic squeaks.
Ah, theyre both great tips, thank you! I did think about replacing all the bulbs with LEDs (the cluster illumination particularly)...but only as I was in the middle of taking it all apart! I should have thought ahead on that one :-/ Still, now that its all been out, it will be simple enough to do again. I'll get some bulbs ordered up! 👍
Great videos of the work on the 900, Martyn! You'll have it done by Christmas :) Speaking of green Saabs, I believe you've previously owned a Scarabe Green Aero I've just bought! Like you, I'm interested to know the car's early history, as it was also owned by Paul Taylor of The Saab Clinic at one point (small world, the Saab community!). I love the little nuggets of info you can find, like the fact it was a SOTW on Pistonheads 10 years ago! Anyway, keep it up, makes really interesting viewing.
Hello mate! Oh My! Are we talking about P109 Widget? If so, what a cracking car that is! Let me know and I shall give you loads of info: I loved that car, my first 'proper' restoration job :-)
Hi Stephen, the arches were done at ALH Restorations in Sussex. Hard to say on price as it was included in all the other welding, but the repair panels were only £27 each from SAABITS which is a bargain! Yes, a full respray is on the cards most likely in the Spring of next year :-)
Remember, those long screws all have different lenghts...so do not mix them up. Here is my video showing how to remove that, and the entire dash... You also find many other c900 repair videos on my channal. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u0B3LQcZcZk.html
@@martynsboostedswedes Actually there is marks on each screw showing... There is lines around them in one of the ends. 1 line 2 lines 3 lines 4 lines... But I dont remember if the 1 line screw belongs to the left or to the right.
And the holding tabs for the long screws you showed in the top, it should also be same tabs for each bolt in the bottom, those looks to be all gone on your panels.. And all bolts should have the plastic tubes around them between the tabs, as in the air went....if I dont remember wrong. If I did
