In this video I answer a recent question on the Saab B204 Conversion, what all is needed to perform such a transplant & drama hits as I discover the ill fate of my Mk4.
1.8 in these where small block (x18xe1 and z18xe) with f17 gearboxes and the early ones had 4 stud hubs. if you want a big block car you'll need to find a 2.0 (x20xev) or a 2.0 turbo for the bigger box.
hi can you tell me which engine mount should be used for this conversion on astra mk4? and is it an electronic harness that you modified or can you buy an already modified harness b204 conversion in astra mk4?
Really helpful video bud. thanks for sharing. I want to drop that same engine into my Astra H and possibly go AWD.. came across this video whilst researching.
Hello mate, is it possible for the mounts from the Saab to fit into the Astra? Also, how much did you pay for the whole kit you mentioned from crankworx?
@@niewiemniemampomysu163 I am currently trying to see why you cant get into the group! Email me on holderflat@outlook.com and I will get you sorted out!
Hi mate how’s it going I’m looking to upgrade my Vauxhall combo 1.3 CDTI with a Saab b204r engine i’m just wondering what else I need to do to upgrade it for a full conversion thanks Jason and is it possible to add me on the Saabwork not letting me in
Nothing wrong with a b205r you forge the pistons and con rods it’s a better engine than the b204r. Lighter head flows better and it has the td05 turbo. Get a saab 9-3 aero hot or viggen. That still turns heads and looks good . The mk3 platform of the Vauxhall range is Astra and mk3 cavalier I’ve got a mk3 cavalier with a b204r in it. Yes you need a full saab take the running gear hubs legs wishbones gearbox drive shafts off the saab. And put it all in the Astra and cavalier then you need a conversion loom which you can buy. You can get that off mig web ecu from saab even the gear stick. You will have to mod the frame it sits in but easy enough. You can use the gear cables from the saab. I used the pedals master cylinder from the saab this bolts in as they share the same bulkhead. So then you can use the saab gearbox that is hydraulic. You use the saab front subframe that bolts in saab back axle saab brakes. Custom exhaust 3 inch all the way to the back. Don’t forget to buy the saab rescue kit. You can use the saab strut brace but will need strengthening up. I find there’s too much flex in them.
Hi mate good vid,I’ve just put a B204 in my Zafira gsi but it’s running really rich and it’s missing like mad until it’s revved any ideas cheers again.
Hello Shaun, thanks for your comment! Yes the over fuelling, my own was like that at first but got much better with some mileage under its belt, it was as it the ECU calibrated with those miles? Have you done many miles yet?
Thanks for getting back to me mate , i don’t think it would drive how it is the weird thing is if I disconnect the map sensor , icv, or the sensor on the top hat it makes no difference at all just misses and there is loads of black smoke when you rev it ,
That is strange! Can you give me a complete background on your conversion? Mods, ECU Unlock by who? ECU Mapped? Trionic5 or Trionic7? And have you the injector plugs correct as Injector 1 plug can be mixed up with the ICV plug!
Right here goes , B204 t5 ,mapped by Karl noobtune, 630 injectors, 3 bar map sensor , Chinese td04-19t and the loom adapter was from someone who makes and sells them on eBay ,I think that’s it cheers
Hi mate im i have a full conversion kit with an f20 box im gonna change it to a f23 fork the mk 5, what did use the diesel tank and cleaned it out or change it? Thanks.
Hello harryobscure, I sold my car on, the running gear was then moved into an Astra G Bertone Coupe! So I believe its still going strong as I passed the car on the road recently!
Struggling to get a b204 engine an I was just wondering if I could use the 2.3 petrol running gear an loom outta Saab 95 for my mk4 astra Sri 1.8 3door doing my head in lol
I want to do The same swap on My Astra g caravan, i'm thinking ill buy a saab 900 donor car. I would like to have a detailed how to preferably with pictures, do you know where i can find it?or If you have the info could you email me or dm on Instagram?
At least give truthful info out if your going to do it, the b204 and 234 are forged pistons and rods and this has been clarified from Sweden and I personally have seen email from the saab h engine design engineers clearly stating they are forged engines
Thanks for your comment Dave! Its a topic that has had a lot of discussion of the past number of years, I would love to see that email, but as far as I know the only forged part is the steel crank? To be fair I wouldn't be one bit surprised if the Saab engineers did forge the lot as they were notorious for making things better than the "run of the mill" GM crap that was produced at the time!
