Neat PR, the Damen guy speaks for the SAAB guy, and the SAAB guy speaks for the Damen guy, the sign of true partners.

@fireson23 SAAB cars where always excelent, the reason it closed are certanly not due to bad engineering, Volvo still manufactures great cars, do you have any example of other countries with less 10M population that manufacture high end cars? Netherlands have a big truck industry called DAF and is considered one of the most innovative countries in the EU. Interesting link: www.wipo.int/pressroom/en/articles/2019/article_0008.html Apart of that..what have cars to do with it, Finland and Norway dont make any cars at all and both have excelent shipyards.

As I see it it can be a win-win for both the Dutch and Sweden, if this gets exported elsewhere they can pick outfits from the Dutch build or the Swedish A26 build as well as their own implementations. That probably means a lot of sub-contractors/manufacturers may get extra orders in the future. With that said both the Damen model and the A26 probably have some separate national secrets in it. It was when the ThyssenKrupp group started to fiddle with Swedish state secrets that Kockums got raided by the Swedish military and Kockums later ended up with SAAB.

@Roomer645
@Roomer645 4 года назад
@@michaelcoles6140 What is there to explain ? Everybody knows that the British can't make something with electronics that keeps on working and the same goes for design. Sure, we have seen nice cars coming from the UK the past decade but that's after German engineering took over and designers from all over the world started doing the sketches. Before the Germans took over pretty much all British brands were bankrupt and the quality of Jaguar, Bentley, MG, Rover, etc was just appalling. Just look at the main infrantry rifle, the L85A1, it's ugly and far from perfect in any other way. Same with the Challenger 2 MBT, put it next to any other MBT and it looks like it's from the 60's. Same with boats and the ugly submarines. The last pretty thing they created was the Spitfire !

I don’t think you’re aware that vw group was fully bolstered by the British, and has largely a British design crew to this day! A long with hundreds of other people from around the world..... You say about British electronics but name one electronic company within the world that can do it right? As far as I can tell electronics are designed from multicultural work forces. British subs are no different from other country’s! A TUBE! The challenger was built in the 90s with one main purpose to prevent deaths within! That it does well better than any other tank..... the brits spent more on buying them crappy Spanish tanks and wished they didn’t..... I’m thinking you have a racist view on the brits!......And have not worked out yet that the hole world design these items and not one nation! Maybe start looking at more facts instead of listening to other racist people and thinking your right! The world is in it together even the good old USA and Russia just because they fight doesn’t mean the country men don’t do business and get on. It’s a shame your so narrow minded.

Allready the Gotland class is totally owning the Baltic sea. Everything else that travels below or on the surface is just a target. The A26 will uphold that tradition and if the Dutch navy chooses the Damen/Saab co-op design then they will get the absolute best. If you want to know how good the Gotland is, the old version of it ran circles around a US battle group, killing the carrier 6 times over without ever getting detected..... You can watch it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-saCdvAp5cow.html&

You are aware that data, while something to be proud of is out dated given how it was done in the late 90s and early 2000s. Since then the German 212A type subs have over taken the Dutch Swedish subs as well as the American Virginia class. Just because it sank a US carrier in the past wargames doesn't mean it will now. Heck just look up the Destruction of the USS America, that thing was hit both above and below the water line and still refused to sink after a month of bombardment, making it the most expensive target ship in US history.
@jonaswallmyr
@jonaswallmyr 4 года назад
@@Predator42ID Yes ofc, its old and as I said, it was an older version of Gotland. The new one would just make it all over again and also sink some of the fancy new Nukes like Virginia in the process. A nuke is never as quiet as an AIP sub. But that is just a capabillity test, nothing that would ever happen. You will never find that sub in blue water conditions and we would never go to war with the US. In the regions where it is made to operate, littoral waters, the odds get even more on the side of the submarine.

the Indian Navy should acquire a fleet of 13 brand new 8,400 ton (13,200 ton loaded) stealth guided missile fast attack submarine based on the Swedish A26 L class design & capabilities . . . it'll be powered by AIP & i-MARINEHYBRId propulsion system . . . the A26 L class subs in the Indian context will have a 13-cell VLS in the front bow section of the hull that'll accommodate a plethora of missiles from the AGM-84E Harpoon (Block IV) anti-ship missiles & SCALP EG land attack cruise missile to the MICA IR SAM & RUM-149 VL-ASROC in addition to the standard 6-tube torpedo in the front nose, bow section of the submarine . . . each submarine has to be priced between €320 Mn - €530 Mn Euros depending upon the Indian Navy specific modifications but not more than €530 Mn . . . the first 3 or 5 sub will be built by SAAB-DAMEN in Kockums & the remaining 8 subs wholly built in India or assembled from CKD kits . . . only the marine grade steel for the sub's double hull has to imported from SAAB Sverige . . . other than that everything has to be built here under the Made-In-India self reliance initiative . . .

Yeah, not gonna happen buddy, not for prices like you quoted, that's incredibly unrealistic. The Netherlands has reserved 4 billion Euro's for their 4 new submarines, and they're only regular diesel-electric attack submarines, not even ballistic missile submarines. A submarine with your requirement would cost at the very least 1 billion a piece if not more.

Andrew Yunus: Then you should study the Swedish Gotland submarine! This little 100 million $ tin can ripped apart US carrier asses during 2 (TWO) years before the mighty US Navy understood this phenomenon and could update their radar systems! Citation "Naval analyst Norman Polmar said the Gotland “ran rings” around the American carrier task force. Another source claimed U.S. antisubmarine specialists were “demoralized” by the experience." nationalinterest.org/blog/the-buzz/swedens-super-stealth-submarines-are-so-lethal-they-sank-us-18383 Read the section "Deployments" in below Wikipedia link and we will understand that it isn't always the one with the biggest mouth who wins :) Citation "In 2004, the Swedish government received a request from the United States to lease HSwMS Gotland - Swedish-flagged, commanded and manned, for a duration of one year for use in antisubmarine warfare exercises. The Swedish government granted this request in October 2004, with both navies signing a memorandum of understanding on 21 March 2005.[5][6] The lease was extended for another 12 months in 2006.[7][8][9] In July 2007, HSwMS Gotland departed San Diego for Sweden.[10] HSwMS Gotland managed to snap several pictures of USS Ronald Reagan during a wargaming exercise in the Pacific Ocean, effectively "sinking" the aircraft carrier.[11] The exercise was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the US fleet against diesel-electric submarines, which some have noted as severely lacking.[12][13]" en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gotland-class_submarine

@@AnonyMous-ql9nj Lol, a Walrus-class submarine didn't just sink a US supercarrier but sank half its carrier battle group along with it, including an American nuclear attack submarine, the carrier battle group's command ship, and 6 different frigates and destroyers. There's not a single other navy on the planet who has achieved that, Sweden never scored anything other than just a carrier itself, which is fairly common for diesel electric attack subs.
@pieterveenders9793
@pieterveenders9793 3 года назад
@@KimJakab The US Navy is highly overrated, not quantitively but definitely qualitively. The US is too arrogant to openly admit that, let alone the many times they weren beaten by other navies during war games, but the facts are out in the open and well known among those who are interested in world navies. Admittedly the Swedes make subs that are excellent value for money, but they're not the best money can buy, hence why if the Netherlands would decide to go for Saab it will only be in a partnership between Saab and Damen, where the latter would substantially change the former's design so it is up to Dutch standards and requirements. It will make the sub a lot more expensive, but also a lot more capable.
