I have done a lot of homework about mattresses and watched a lot RU-vid videos.. you name it. Oh my god. He does THE BEST job!!! The most thorough test!!! The most trustworthy mattress tester in the entire RU-vid world. I have spent three whole day on mattress research and i could not waste my time if I watched his videos. Decision made. Avocado. Mike is the BEST!!!!

Mike- I have been looking for a new bed for a while. Like many, headed to YT for reviews. ALL the other sites are cloned (SlumberYd/Tuck/Sleed Adv..etc) they never really say anything. I have not watched your videos but, I spent time on your website. Found what I was looking for; actual customers opinions with searchable peramiters like I wanted. Simple, honest reviews from people that are not getting paid and by pros. Great concept. Thank you for standing out in a crowd of "paid sheep"

Hi Jake. You hit the nail on the head -- and even worse, most of the other 'reviewers' are backed by mattress companies themselves, and/or only recommend mattresses that make them the most money in affiliate sales. So you were absolutely right to STEER CLEAR. Thank you for the comment and for the support!

Another good review, but I just wanted to mention something about one of your replies you made to a person on here though; you didn't tell them about the find the right mattress quiz you have at your site. I left a reply for them about it, but that quiz is what gave us the extra needed information for which mattress would suit us best. You really should let people know about that, because there isn't one elsewhere that helped us as much as yours did. Thanks for all you do to help with mattress purchases these days, they can be so confusing anymore.

Hi! I tried this out in the store and it felt medium firm to me. Macy’s is selling their queen floor model for $599 in the Saatva HD. Would this bed be okay with me even though I’m 5’8 and 150 lbs? I loved the loom and leaf, but that’s out of my price range.
@goodbed
@goodbed 3 года назад
Hi Breanna. Did you take our Quiz yet? That will give you a good sense of how the Saatva HD matches your personal needs. You can take the quiz specifically for the Saatva HD here: www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/quiz/?product=mod+saatva-hd Be aware that if you do buy the floor model, you will not get a warranty unless Macy's offers you some kind of substitute warranty. But if the HD is a good fit for your needs and it felt good to you, that's certainly a bargain!

Mike, I have just purchased the Saatva Classic FIRM mattress but thought I should buy the HD. The reason I did not is because I wanted the second stimulus check to be direct deposited in my checking account, but as you might know, Congress is messing with us and we now may or may not get it. I used my own money for the Classic yet purchased the HD foundation just in case. I am a 73 year old widower, weighing in at 190 pounds, who herniated my L5/S1 disc in 1991 moving a box three inches-a workers’ comp injury. After 25 years, that disc has now completely degenerated through wear and tear and I now am walking with bone on bone where there should be a disc. In the meantime, I have three more herniated discs ranging from 25 to 50 percent herniations all in the lumbar regions and all directly above that original disc. Were it not for my Pain Management doctor prescribing Methadone for me which allows me to live virtually pain free, I would not be able to bear the chronic pain. I have been on the Methadone for over 10 years now and previous to that I was taking OxyCodone which only lessened the pain. Now, you probably know why I ordered the firm mattress instead of the more popular Luxury Firm. I am hoping that if and when I receive the $1200 stimulus pay I will return the Classic Firm and pay the $99 fee and order the Saatva HD. I have been told different stories by Saatva’s super wonderful Customer Service team that the HD is firmer than the Classic Firm and vice versa. I know that it’s the other way around-the HD is less firm than the Classic Firm and the is no choice of firmness levels with the HD. My current mattress is a 19.5-year old Sleep Number mattress which at the time was the top-of-the-line model for which I paid $3900. The foundation is cracked and almost to the floor and the mattress looks like one of Florida’s sinkholes. It actually has a dip of almost three inches. I moved to the other side that my wife slept on and when I waken I find myself in the hole. Currently, I sleep at a 85 out of 100 sleep number and it’s a perfect number for me. When sitting up, I sit I do so at 19 degree tilt to the left. AND PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND-I LIVE IN AND ON THE MATTRESS 99 PERCENT OF EACH AND EVERY DAY. I am not rough on the mattress, but I do hasten a mattress’ lifespan. This is one of the, if not the real reason for my wanting the HD. All that being said, if I were to find that the Classic Firm mattress is perfect for me, but my mind is telling me that the HD is so well made, possibly the best made HYBRID mattress by any mattress manufacturer anywhere and has it all-functional tufts, Talalay latex as opposed to Dunlop and the latex with hundreds of very small holes for superb cooling as well as lumbar support, 12.5 gauge steel connected coils, the flexible helical wire to help eliminate motion transfer (no longer an issue for me), a small amount of memory foam, Saatva’s patented Spinal Zone active wire adding lumbar support, superior edge support and more. I am a back sleeper and rarely move when I sleep usually in the daylight hours. Bar none, other than the HD’s lower firmness level compared to the Classic firm, AND THIS IS WHERE I NEED, IF POSSIBLE, YOUR INPUT, and also remembering that I live 99 percent of my day on the mattress, would I be wrong in returning to the Classic and purchasing the HD for the better-made mattress which as you hint at in your video review and Saatva revealed to me that they do sell the HD to people weighing from 130 to 500 pounds? The HD warranty does have a longer lifespan of 20 years which I probably won’t be around to see it expire, yet the terms are the same and I do believe it’s simply a better made mattress and well worth the extra $1,200.00 without question. I know, as you always say at the start of each video review, that mattresses are personal-what works for one person may not work for another, but I would value, over anyone else who reviews mattresses, your opinion. Thank you, Mike.

Hi Richard. Thanks for the comment. Certainly your situation is unique, and you're absolutely right to prioritize durability. The Saatva HD is definitely a better made bed with better components. It won't last twice as long just because the warranty is twice as long, but it should certainly last longer. That being said, if mattress for the money is really important, you may be able to get something that functions just as well but is closer in price to the Classic Saatva than the HD. Since you seem to like a firm bed, I'm thinking something along the lines of an Avocado maybe -- that's an option that could provide similar benefits and also save you some money. Here's our review and video on the Avocado mattress: www.goodbed.com/reviews/avocado-green-mattress-review/ Hope that's helpful!

GoodBed It was and I thank you for your suggestions. In fact, if the Saatva Classic does not work out and after days of research on the Avocado and Helix Birch with toppers, and Avocado being my favorite, I will go with either one of them. I now wish I had gone with the Avocado instead of the Saatva Classic. Oddly, the Birch and Avocado mattresses were my number two and three choices but turned them down in favor of the Saatva classic because of the price. It was the only one I could get along with the frame and foundation under $2,000.00. But now with the stimulus money a sure thing almost, I will try the Classic for 30 days, but if the firm is just a little too firm, I will return it and get the Avocado. Actually, both mattress company’s websites are claiming long delays due to the Covid-19 virus. Anyway, again many thanks for reminding me of the Avocado. Both natural mattresses are really highly regarded and rated. Richard

@goodbed

Hi Bill. As we mention in the video, no -- this mattress is not made to bend, so is not compatible with an adjustable base. It also does not come compressed and rolled like most online mattresses, but rather gets delivered like a piece of furniture. Thanks for the question.

My wife and I are getting ready to purchase a new mattress and we are struggling to decide what is best. I am heavy and tall, she is short and petite. We need something to support me but also provide pressure relief to her as she has RA. It's tough finding what is suitable for a man my size (300+ lbs) and helps her as well.

Hi Jacob. Did you watch the Saatva HD video? We were very surprised and pleased to find this mattress did very well for both small and large people in our tests, both in terms of back support and pressure relief. If you take a look at our written review page, there's detailed breakdown of our ratings for people of varying sizes and weights: www.goodbed.com/reviews/saatva-HD-mattress-review/ Assuming it meets your other needs, the Saatva HD may tick a lot of boxes for you and your wife. Hope that helps!

@@goodbed Thank you. I did and I also reviewed the written part on your website. The other mattress I am considering is the Wink bed mattress and I also reviewed that one after taking the Goodbed test. It rated very highly for me as well. I wish I knew the key differences between the Saatva and the Winkbed so that the choice would be a little clearer. I know the Saatva HD has the different spring type and the Winkbed has all the independent coils, and a few other things but I don't know much more different the mattresses are.

@@MrMagyar5 Hi there, I just wanted to add that at GoodBed they have a quiz to take, www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/quiz/ and that quiz is what helped us choose the bed and firmness of said bed. Just reading and listening to reviews is confusing, and GoodBed's quiz actually breaks it down to a few that would best fit you and the options; we also have one large person, one small, one prefers relief and comfort, while one prefers super support, and it really, really helped us make the correct choice. I am kind of surprised they didn't mention it above, but just wanted to let you know about it, if you haven't used it yet.
@goodbed
@goodbed 4 года назад
Hi Jacob. We always review our mattresses the same way so you can compare their ratings. The quick answer: The WinkBed (13.5") is 1.5" inches shorter than the Saatva HD (15"). We rated the WinkBed a Medium where the Saatva is a Medium Firm -- so the Saatva is going to feel firmer. The WinkBed doesn't contain any memory foam, so it does not have any of that 'melting' memory feel. The Saatva does have a little bit of memory foam, so you do get just a little bit of that memory feel. Hope that helps!
@MrMagyar5
@MrMagyar5 4 года назад
@@goodbed it does indeed. I think we will try the Saatva as my wife's RA is serious and she needs the pressure relief that memory foam gives. Thanks for the help and when we purchase we will use your link to let them know you are the reason we are buying from them.

Connected coils distribute weight better
@goodbed
@goodbed 3 года назад
Hi -- thanks for the comment. In our view there are pros and cons to connected coils and pocketed ones. For a single sleeper that's not so worried about motion transfer, connected coils might indeed better distribute weight and spread the load over a larger area, potentially adding greater longevity. Pocketed coils are wonderful for limiting motion transfer, and manufacturers can do cool things like put stronger coils around the edge and in the middle, and lighter ones in other areas for zoned support. Thanks again for the comment!

Okay not to sound dirty but does this bed make noise when doing grown people things?
@goodbed
@goodbed 3 года назад
Hey -- thanks for the comment. It's a totally legit question. While we did not test it specifically in "that way", we do discuss the Saata's continuous-coil support unit. Many (if not most) innerspring mattresses today use pocketed coils, meaning each coil is encased in a fabric pocket. With a connected coil support unit, however, there are no fabric pockets, increasing the potential for metal to contact metal. In out experience, that's typically where mattress "noise" comes from. We did test bounce -- which gave us a good idea how much noise might be a result. I just looked back at our original footage from our review, and there's definitely more noise when we bounce down hard on the bed (compared to an all-foam or pocketed-coil mattress). It's definitely not going to be like an old "creaky-creaky" mattress with squeaks the neighbors can hear, but if noise is a big concern, you might consider a different type of mattress. Hope that's helpful!
@Sixxdee9
@Sixxdee9 3 года назад
@@goodbed thank you!! I don’t want my bedroom noise carrying to other rooms, so I will look into a pocket coil per your suggestion lol.
