Can't wait till my 2 grow a Bit , I find all palms beautiful, specially when you grow them where they're not supposed to grow ,have a Fantastic growing season ♥️🌴🇺🇲🤗
one thing ive learned with my trunking sabals, is they are more finnicky to the box method where as other palms don't take too much frond discoloration while covered, they do. ive been putting clear sides on mine, but after this past winter i plan to not box it and only frost cloth/lights when needed on coldest times. I find i have a side or two off more then on for it so that it doesn't fry with the clear sides during the day
I box mine with styrofoam boxes,c9 lights and they still come out discoloured and loose most fronds every winter! Not sure what the problem is.I have sabal minors btw.
@@pawelelektryk2985 Zone 5 is pushing it for Sabal. They love heat. So in your zone they would full sun and let them go dormant and let them stay in the -12C to 5C Range in the box. Only Box below -12C to -15C
@tntropics we have pretty hot summers where I am.but maybe you are right, maybe I should only protect them when it gets below the temperatures u mention.thanks for your input.
Take a look at the Sabal playlist. I don't have plans for another palmetto video soon. Probably late summer ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9Z1Z1dIafCc.html
Do you have any Mediterranean fan palms? If so, please do an in-depth video on them, they are great palms that are cold hearty yet I feel they unjustly have not been given their fair share of attention in the palm community here on RU-vid.
The Trachys seem to have hairy trucks while the Sabal palmettos don't have that, so they have different looks to them. Looks like everything made it through the -6F.
@@nathanielalgernon975 Basically only Sabal minor survived with up to 25% damage or so. All other Sabals were either protected or had basically complete defoliation at -6F.
Not much to dislike when in Cincinnati, OH I can leave two palm trees out on their own with no protection whatsoever at +1.1°F and have very little damage occur from it lol! Not the classiest palm out there, but at least it's American haha!
