Found them at 59, 3 years back! Sadly, neither of my kids knew what they were missing until I introduced them to the best group ever! Sabaton and ABBA are the ONLY 2 groups of whom I can say I love every song. Both Swedish bands-maybe something in the water thrre?!

I fucking love Joakim's stage banter, Sabaton is one of the most wholesome bands I've ever seen live. I saw them on a metal/booze cruise ten years ago, they played at noon on the second day when every single person on that boat was hungover as fuck (including me) but they still had more energy than all the other bands. That was the second best memory from that trip, best was ending up next to Jörgen Sandström, frontman of Torture Division and overall Swedish death metal legend, at a urinal. Super nice guy, we talked for about five minutes after but all I remember was saying "jävlar det är ju du!" (holy shit it's you! in swedish), he replied "ja fan det är det ju!" (damnit you're right!) and I just couldn't think of anything else to say in that instant than "you're shorter than I imagined".
some ppl mind say it ist metal, but I tell you the reason why a lot of ppl like them is because theyrebdoing a great job by making metal for everyone... they not elitist... they are simple but still great enough
My 69 year old dad, lifelong country music fan, used to hate people with long hair and tattoos until I was signed to a label and my dad had to drive me to my gigs (I was 17). He got to know the fans and after he fell in love with Manowar back in 1995, I sent him the Bismarck music video last year --- now he is besotted with Sabaton!!!
I saw them in Australia as the featured act on a Nightwish tour, they're fucking great live. Really appreciative of their crowds, great interaction with the audience and the music kicks arse! I highly recommend going to see them when you get the chance
Hannes’ snare tuning is perfect, and the addition of Tommy making Sabaton technically top of the deck now in terms of musicianship - what a team! At 51 I’ve been waiting more than 40 years for a band like this. Love the history, love the music, love the band! Come to England more guys, you’ll be well received UK wide. You’ve grown so much since Wacken 2013 and soooo deserve to be headlining now!! Great guys, every one of them! Tommy’s voice is incredible, I hope he tours with Majestica - they should open for Sabaton!
@@simpanlimpan8063 Yeah, I had forgotten about Twilight, and I love Sabaton's rendition 100x more than Amon Amaranth, due to vocals.....There's alot of Viking themed music out there that Sabaton could once in awhile perform. Woul d be niiiiice!
I had so much fun when I saw them. Was my first concert ever in Portland, Oregon. Had to make about an hour drive to get there, my sister dropped me off at some bar and I had no idea, so the bouncer looked at my ID and told me to piss off since I was only 20 ( A bit nicer than that though) So I was stuck in Portland of all cities while my sister was at her own concert. I eventually got ahold of my sister and she sent me to the right place. Was a ton of fun. Was October 18th or 19th of 2019. Little did I know that in two or so months that Covid would hit. My fondest memory of it all is that there were a lot of dads and even some moms that brought their children with them. Some kids just did not care and sat on their dad's shoulders on a tablet for the entire thing, while some kids were genuinely excited for Sabaton. I remember hearing a dad tell his daughter that Night Witches was coming on. Something along the lines of " Look your favorite song" The other best moment was on the upstairs balcony. What looked to be a grandmother and grandfather, looked like they went along with their grandchild to the concert who looked around 24. That grandma was so into the entire thing though. Shaking her arms and rocking out while the grandfather seemed to sit back in silent approval and the grandkid looked like he might've been a bit embaressed. Sadly, I had this really crappy smartphone. Probably came out around 2014 or so. But was free. But I tried to record the concert, but my Phone could not handle the audio at all. So whenever I playback the video's it's always really messed up audio where you can't even understand what they're saying. Good times.
I was planning on taking my son to see them in Maryland in a comple weeks but the tour was cancelled. He's actually the one that introduced me to the band in the first place! He's 14 and I'm 43, I have no idea how I missed these guys through all the years
I'm a grandma of 2 and I love these guys. Never been to a concert before in my life so I asked my son to accompany me (Sept. 2021). He did and I'm so glad I went. (My son, not at all embarrassed to be with his Mom, and old lady at that, LOL, he's a good kid, but I don't think he'd want to take his mom out like this to often, I was acting a while lot crazier then he was, LOL. Actually, I'm the one who told him about this band, he didn't know of them. ) Really good show!!
@@elsbethhumphrey2048 That's awesome!! Love seeing Grandmoms out at metal shows - mine came to a couple of my shows when they were with us :) Beautiful story. I wish my son and I had been able to see them in October but the tour was cancelled before they made it to DC :(
@@jseipp - sorry you missed them. Do you have any idea why the show was canceled? Looking at their scheduled back then they were booked for a show almost every day straight through November ending up in Canada before taking December off. And starting to tour in January again in Europe. They really book themselves solid, shows every night in a different city only 1-2 days off every now and then. Have you heard their new release Christmas Truce? Check it out.
@@elsbethhumphrey2048 Unfortunately they cancelled the rest of the American tour when Judas Priest's guitar player was hospitalized so they did not end up playing any of the shows here in October :(
As a person growing up in the late 60's and early 70's, I cut my heavy metal teeth with the likes of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Rainbow, etc. I all but gave up listening to the radio, thinking metal was dead and gone, and receded into my playlist of the past. And, just as I thought all hope was gone, who do I come across doing a Google search of the WWI, 1914 truce? Long live rock and roll! Long live Sabaton!!
1:15:40 Hannes looks like the dad who gives his kid (Chris) one of his tools so he can play along and "help out". And he even said "nice job" at the end hahaha
I LOVE how the whole routine with Swedish Pagans is such "a thing" with everyone that when crowd chants it & Joakim goes "he he, fuck you guys!" 15:45 EVERYONE (including poor Jocke, who'd really prefer not to play it, but loves to please the fans) knows it's all part of the banter and they will play it eventually.
I think most members in fairly successful metal bands have the musical ability to play more than one instrument. Hammerfall for once have a recorded song where all the members have switched instrument.
I saw them years ago as an opener for Iced Earth. I didn't know much about them at the time, but I always remembered how much fun they had on stage. Now I'm rediscovering them, and the feel of this show is just like I remember.
The fact that they sound live equally as good as in the studio, if not better, really shows how good they are. Most bands and artists sound much worse live than they do in Studio.
You must listen to a right load of old crap ;) I've never gone to a live performance and thought it was worse than the album...apart from Christina Aguilera...ugh!
Jag såg Sabaton på Bråvalla festivalen för några år sedan. Sångaren (Joakim) utstrålade sån otrolig glädje och verkade verkligen trivas den kvällen. Cool spelning & hans/deras energi smittade av sig. Tack Sabaton :)
I've been watching their live performance lately on utube because I'm going to see them with Judas priest in September AND THEY DEFINITELY KNOW HOW TO OPEN UP A CONCERT AND THEY DEFINITELY ROCK HARD
I am a life long Nightwish fan was turned on to them by Floor-her husband is in the band wow what a find, great riffs and tied to history. Can't wait to see them in Sept in my hood!
Checked them out cause there at a festival I'm going too. No idea who they were. OH MY SWEET LORD this is amazing!!!!! I dont know what else to say. I'm just dumbfounded at how great a band this is. What is wrong with me that I missed out so long.
I fully understand, I had been missing out cor years until a couple months ago wheb they were on the list for a festival in going to, I fell in love with en livstid an krieg, I'll end up learning Swedish thanks to that song
I'm 35 now and over the years and in my youth I obviously always saw guys with Sabaton concert t-shirts but only now with over 30 I come into contact with some good music and MAN I WISH I KNEW ABOUT SABATON EARLIER!
