Police have launched an investigation after shocking footage emerged showing a saboteur being flattened when she was trampled by a horse during a hunt.
The female activist narrowly avoided serious injury after she was struck by the steed as a huntsman jumped over a metal fence in a farmer's field on Saturday (11 February).
The woman had been monitoring the Cottesmore Hunt in Whissendine, in Rutland, when the incident happened at around 1.45pm.
The huntsman can be seen approaching the padlocked gate on horseback and asking the hunt saboteur to move out of the way.
He tells her: “Please come out of the way so we can jump it. I am going to jump it. You’ll have to come out the way.”
But when the hunt saboteur doesn’t move, the horse proceeds to jump the fence and collides heavily with the woman causing her to fall to the ground.

No. And you've never tried to save a fox from being ripped apart (illegally, by the way) by a pack of hounds, either. The people by the gate are trying to prevent illegal blood sports. The person moved when the horse was committed to making the jump. Horses can't see what's right in front of them because their eyes are on the side of their head. Don't move in a situation like this!

To a horse, from 4 feet back the jump is no longer visible.

I disagree. A matter of timing, the time to move was when the guy stated clearly he was jumping that fence.

Sorry but I don't know where you get that from. Horses are basically prey animals, their eyes are on the side of their heads to give the 360 degree vision, of course they can see in front of themselves. Here's a suggestion, put an apple in your mouth and stand within biting distance of a horse, don't worry, it wont bite your face off because it won't be able to see you. God some people talk such utter horse shyte

sweet idea, but sadly wrong horses can see right around their body except the tail area, which it why they get startled when you approach from behind.

@@boar7153And therein lies the effectiveness of this boneheaded protest style. Most people are loathe to injure or especially kill another person, so the drivers, bus drivers, etc. - don't; and the protesters all know that, or at least they hope for that fact. I'm fairly certain this hunter was not intent on killing the protester. Of COURSE you can't go around killing people, but SOMETIMES violence is justifiable. Watch the video carefully. This was obviously unintentional. The problem I have with your comment is that if this form of protesting isn't checked, where does it end, because these folks I'm fairly certain would have zero qualms of bringing the world to a standstill and to its knees. People are getting extremely frustrated, and eventually someone will probably snap and commit a terrible crime. I have zero problems with protests, but one person's "freedom of speech/expression" ends where another's nose begins. P.S. after watching this video again, the rider jumped to the left of the seated person and was set up to land to the left of the standing one, missing both. If the standing person had stayed still, the horse would have missed him. He literally walked into the horse's landing spot at the last instant. There is no way the rider could have anticipated that. So, no, in my opinion he committed no crime.

@@biknjak if someone was standing on the road would you reverse up and floor it past them in hope that they would stay where they were standing?and violence would only be tolerated in court when violence was thrust upon the other.the rider would have been better off picking a different path.totally avoiding the incident.
