Sabres Youth To Much For Aging Islanders Tonight - Postgame Thoughts 

Losing dead weight is really working in our favor so far. I love the speed and intensity they are playing with.

Our recent play has shown me that our future is very bright. We have a resilient group. This group is finally finding its groove at the right time. Great speed, defensive coverage, passing , and shots were on point tonight. Great home win again. UPL is a legit #1 tender. He is seeing and reading the game so beautifully.

THIS is the team I expected this season.

Power , Joker, Clifton, and Byrson are playing soild defensive hockey lately. Greenway is finally using his body and playing free. I kind of like Girgs on the 1st line.

Acquiring Byram has been just what this team needed. It help that UPL has been lights out most of this year. Now the offense is finally helping him out.

We were only out shot in 3rd due to phantom penalties and a pulled goalie. They're d made a few saves with empty net.

What a solid performance. The last few weeks have been superb which makes looking back at the woeful inconsistent efforts early on like that horrid Bluejackets loss all the more mind boggling. At least theres meaningful games into the final furlough and they are very much alive. I reckon a few teams are looking over there shoulders now. Big thumbs up here to my dear Coyotes for constantly bucking the off ice issues and fighting all the way too. 😊

It sure was nice of the other teams to allow Benson to fall to us in the draft! He's already figuring out how to play around his lack of strength, if he bulks up a bit he's gonna be insane 2 or 3 years from now.

Haha amazing!!! 1st time here!! Lifeline Sabres fan here from PEI Canada. I actually made it to Buffalo for 1st time Dec 30 vs Columbus when the came back and won in OT!!! You just never know they are playing amazing!!! Big W in the Big D tomorrow and a hard fighting Ottawa team takes down Islanders tomorrow would make those standings look mighty interesting.. I HAVE FAITH!!!

I don’t know if you saw or not but the day after we beat detroit a few days ago, during their practice they started getting into it. Lucas Raymond and Ben Chariot specifically started pushing eachother around and it got heated.

Things have been falling into place nicely as of late, Sabres look like a much faster team with Okposo and Mittelstadt gone. I think Jost has been filling in well. Byram+Dahlin looks awesome! This 5 game road trip is going to be tough, really need to start it with a win cause the games just get tougher after Detroit. Gotta beat Seattle for the 1st time. Every game is a playoff game, and they're playing like it, hopefully they can keep it up.

Got rid of the Okposo Curse...

UPL is playing like a Vezina winning goalie right now. Unbelievable performance by the entire team last night! On to Detroit! Unfortunately not all of the out of town scores were in Buffalo's favor but all Buffalo can do is keep winning.

Yes the Islanders handed out some nasty body checks. But what impressed me most (besides being resilient to those hits) was how Buffalo was able to overcome and break through the blue line stance that the Islanders tried to employ in this game. They usually are not that good at that. Go Sabres!

The refs did their best again with all kinds of weak call against us. Great game though!

something has caught on with this team, it could honestly be the perfect storm, the trades, certain guys stepping up/into(byram's sake) this lineup or if its certain guys stepping out, something has started to click within these last 10-15 games where they are playing much more physical, the offense is forechecking their tails off, it seems nobody they play can even get into the offensive zone, they have woken up, the hustle is there in every guy on offense it's really exciting to see these boys with the opportunity to be one point out of playoffs again but this time we will have 14 more games to continue the run or break our hearts again, either way these guys seem to show up in the last 15 games of the season and I am ready to be apart of the ride

Sometimes, as fans, we forget the season is a marathon, not a sprint. While Detroit is stumbling and bumbling their way down the stretch, the Sabre's have found their next level. Taking 50 hits yet winning going away!

Once again it's another year that's gonna take an additional 10 years off my life. I don't mind it if we get in the playoffs, but my gosh this is the team we all knew was there! This team is the team game we know and love. I get a feeling Thompson is about to unleash, and cozens is coming back and alive! Holy smokes, We get in Roam and Detroit doesn't, ROAM you can personally wreck all my comments and etc. Since I'm from Michigan I can tell ya that right now they are absolutely terrified for Saturday. Unfortunately I have to work that night. However I'm wearing my Sabres gear that day. I'll be at the game in Detroit on April 7th. I can't miss it if we keep this rolling!

As our Wings were beating the Avs, even Mickey Redmond said on the air this was the playoffs. Wow, two consecutive years of falling off the cliff. The way we’re covering on defense, I think we’ll have to rely on the goalposts to beat the Sabres. Mixed feelings here, from an old timer from Buffalo.

Wow so let me get this straight we get rid of Kyle okposlow and aged Erik Johnson and we improve? The Sabres apparently need me on their management team because I would’ve made these move a long long time ago. I sure hope this isn’t too little too late because I’m dying for some playoff hockey.

Look what happens when we finally get rid of Okblowso. He's been holding this team back for way too long and i have a bad feeling he's gonna hurt Panthers bad if they keep him in the lineup.

Sometimes it's a relief in the dressing room to get rid of certain players even if they're liked personally. Maybe the guys thought the love affair between Okposo and management was unwarranted? Rob Ray once said that getting rid of the "Eagles" in the dressing room can be liberating and open up space for new found energy, outlook and leadership to emerge. Something clicked after the trade deadline. What it is we'll never know. No complaints. So far so good.

It feels like the trades that were made has really opened the floodgates in these games since Byram joined. This NYI is a very hard team to play offensively against. This was the one team I was worried about in this week. NYI are known for their stinginess in allowing goals. Clifton, that hit...just wow. Greenway was still the difference tbh. He plays his role so well. Cozens (I mentioned in yesterday videos) that he has done a 180 in his play since the slow season start. I wish the Rangers could have beat the Lightning, they were up 2-0 so disappointed to see NYR fall apart. NJ also won. Honestly, Buffalo were skating circles around them. They should have had 3 goals in the first period but persistence paid off in spades. The young legs of the sabres overcame the old legs of the Isles in the long game. UPL, only goalie that had more shutouts in one season was Miller (6 - 11/12 season I believe), yet not one channel has UPL even mentioned in top 10 goalies of this season.

When it comes to the playoffs as of right now, I’m hopeful, but I’m also not getting my hopes up. We were all beginning to feel like the playoffs were getting out of reach, but the boys are clawing their way back and now all we can do is see how the rest of the season goes.

I wonder what your thoughts are on swapping Girgensons with Robinson for a game on the line with Tuch and Thompson?

Sabres Smothered the Islanders tonight. even if they let up in the third this was a massacre. this year this team struggled with an identity especially with all our inconsistencies. Our defense (and goal tending) may just become our identity. 5 freaking shutouts good lord....

This talent is finally playing swarming team defense and it's playing off. Donny Meatballs looks more aggressive on the bench. Is he a subscriber?? 🤣

Getting rid of Johnson and Mittlestadt finally woke these guys up! I still think that UPL isn't getting the attention he deserves from the TSN and ESPN talking heads. The isles couldn't get any offense going in the first two periods, a smothering effort that dominated every aspect of the game except hits! I don't agree with the number of hits BTW, I don't think the league does a very good job with the stats.
