My problem with Adams is it feels like the head coach is signing free agents not the gm. Why would adams philosophy flip in one year? He signed no new forwards last summer, and this summer 5? I think granato had too much influence on the roster.
Levi should not be #1. Let him develop for another half a season in Rochester, maybe a full season and carry them far into playoffs. He’s still very young. People are forgetting that Miller played in the AHL for many years before he became a solid franchise goaltender. Relax and be patient with him.
Want to say, that is the most epic logo/intro of any NHL-related thing I've seen. Maybe throw some red in the lettering as it's good for catching the RU-vid attention. Now this is just me talking out my behind because I'm not a Sabre fan. But the really seem to lack identity as a team, lack an identity as players. Who's the sniper? Who's the playmaker? Who's the pitbull chasing the puck after a dump-in? It's great to have a player who has it all, but they're far and few between. To me, for the longest time it's kind of felt like there's no, what's the word I'm looking for? ...synergy. Ottawa and Tkachuk are not going to have much success because he only represents part of the equation. A few goals, a few assists, a few hits... need to start finding and developing guys who can start specializing in each one and put them together. Think of Toronto way back, they put Mark Osborne(grit), Ed Olczyk(playmaker), and Gary Leeman(shooter) together. For a first line, it was a pile of 'meh', but having the right dynamics, Leeman scores 50 goals and then gets traded for Doug Gilmour. Use synergy to buy low, develop above their head results, and sell high.
Brady would never goto Buffalo!! I know he's American but Christ he has morals and self respect. Brady will goto St Louis and once Matthews contract is up in Florida he will join him 💯.. Brady would be amazing!!! Big problem though... They would want a king's ransom to get him anywhere else. Probably 2-3 firsts, a few top prospects and an NHL player that is mid 6 forward or a mid to top line d man. That's to any team that's not one of their rivals. We would have to give them even more. 3 firsts, kulich, oustland, Samuelson, and UPL or Levi, and one of Quinn, peterka, or cozens.
There was only one player to make the slug look halfway decent during play... And he did it with two of the worst jerseys in history... Max Afenagenov. The slug and the thrashers jerseys he wore were hideous but he was so fast smooth and fluent with the puck that he made every jersey look good.
I think its totally appropriate. Esp ones that come in not only to attack sabres and sabres fans, but ppl right here in the comments for expressing their opinion. I think its the right way to do it. I vent here also, but overall Im not being negative...in fact i'm quite positive I just have the odd rant (like everyone does).

I don't think Brady is on the trade block. Ottawa is in the same position as us. They're a younger team trying to push for a playoff spot and they underachieved last season. They're not gonna trade their captain and best player to anyone, let alone a division rival. It would be the equivalent of opposing fans thinking of trade offers for Dahlin.
I've read other posted comments on other channels from regulars in this lounge. They're always respectful and speak to the point. Good group of hockey fans here because Wayne has set the standards.
Or even worse the 100 healthy people will get sick. Poisoning the well. Also on top of that negative people tend to be impressionable. They read one tweet from someone who doesn't care about the sabres and absorb in like fact and spread it like the plague. They can't think for themselves. It takes one person speaking strongly to convince people. It's easier to grab someone elses opinion then to think sometimes. Often free thinkers stay away from places where its just a dogmatic way of thinking with no nuance. So in the end of the day you need to prune the plant to let it grow healthy. Wayne has done that and I trust him in what he decides.
Eichel for M.Tkachuk almost happened not sure why it fell through though. For Brady I would offer them JJ, Quinn, Benson and a first but I doubt they would bite. Brady is the only guy on that team who could probably perform if they ever actually made the playoffs.

Lindy was in Adams ear with these free agent signing and the Malenstyn and Macleod trades last month.. I love what THEY , Adams & Ruff have done this summer with the bottom 6 forward group plus adding ex Calgary D man Dennis Gilbert who i think will be on the 3rd D pair with Connor Clifton most nights this season. Wayne sorry Ottawa isnt going to take prospects and picks for Brady. They would want Tage Thompson. Levi unless he has improved on his short side will start the year in Rochester . Im confident the Sabres & UPL will avoid arbritration and sign a 3 or 4 year deal very soon and he will be the number 1 goalie to start the season . You want a new top 6 winger, and piss off Carolina , offer sheet Jarvis or Necas as Carolina wont be able to match 😊 I think Adams is done adding players for now. I think it's more... when the ultimately rude people take over.. the rest just stop commenting.. nothing peeves me more than when a content provider asks for opinion, you give it and some rude Karen decides to call you names and an idiot because my opinion is not like theirs... Honest opinion is fine.. Like my feelings on UPL vs Levi... but there is a limit.
If UPL wins the starting job.. Levi goes down just to play every day... but I think there is a good chance that Levi could end the season as the #1 no matter what. The sabres would be best with Reimer on the bench over the other two.
I agree with the hits. The thought I had, and I am repeating a point made earlier, is that the faceoff percentage (45%) needs to increase. Lindy mentioned it in his presser, but it didn't appear to me to get a lot of traction. Now that some time has passed and we've gotten to digest the Savoie trade, the bottom six acquisitions are going to payoff big down the stretch. They are faster and more physical and hopefully by Jan/Feb we will see a team just wearing their opponents down in the third period. Which pays off in two ways. First, having enough in the tank to make some incredible comebacks. Second, protecting a lead and forcing a plethora of empty netters. You could see with Girgy and Okie out there that the speed just dropped and the other team got to catch their breath. This bottom six is going to make it hard on coaches to match up their lines with the top six if they're best defensive fwds are gassed in critical moments. Another number that needs to be on the rise is blocked shots, a character stat that the bottom six acquisitions will bring. This will show if the Sabres are buying into the challenge of making a deep run this year. One last point that may go unnoticed. Even though it was time for Donny to go and Lindy to come in, I believe Donny did right by some of these younger players last year by forcing them to learn how to play better defensively. I don't like the results in the win/loss column, but I think he took the long term approach of getting these guys better in the long run. Lindy will benefit from some of the defensive building blocks Donny put in last season. If you check the stats, their GA was 243 last season v 297 the season before. I am sure UPL had a good bit to do with it, but it appeared to me that their team defense (sans hits & blocked shots) looked better in the games I watched.
I brought it up at the end of the season and everyone thought I was crazy saying they aren’t physical especially power. Glad people caught on especially LR and KA
If we have an incredible year with the complete package: hitting, speed, team defense, and goal scoring, AND Ottawa is bad again, Tkachuk is eventually going to want out of there and our team could be somewhere he wants to go. I’m in favor of a trade but I don’t think I could say yes to Levi for it.
yeah tkachuk(both of them for that matter) is a unicorn that would make this roster 10x harder to play against immediately, you don't get too many physical presences that put up the offense that both the brothers bring to their respective team.

Ya this will be a fun season to watch ,the fun line and this new core they've brought in to support guys like Quin and Benny,Cozens can bring the stick he used in the world championship s watch out for the fun line ,we dont need Savoie we have Benson it would suck if he did become a Briere type il admit that but u can't blame Kev he knows what he got with Savoie its like a scratch off ticket im tired of waiting and it's nice to see all theese smart moves I think we need to put Krebbs on our 4th give him another year please he's gonna break out like Casey but a year quicker wich is this year right ,if our bottom 6 produce and I believe we have 3 pieces to add in now, new dimension we haven't seen this in 11 + years over a decade and we have no issues in net fingers crossed no injuries ,I would think maybe Ugmark might regret choices he's made I can't believe he signs with Otawa it make no sense to me he's a Hall Lets sit back and watch Levi and Lu take care of it we are in such a good spot
Sure felt like they didn't hit much last year. There were a few games that were exceptionally good, I think one was against Detroit, and you think, OK, they CAN actually do it. Then didn't. Weird.
Unlike NJ I think Ruff has more say in the player personnel side with Buffalo. Look at the additions & the subtractions so far this off-season. The Sabres have done enough in adding needed speed, physicality & grit to the bottom 6. There is still untapped potential in Quinn, Peterka & Benson in the top 9.
