Opening shell companies that act as homeless helping companies. all that goes back to the same few LLC’s. Senators, lobbyist and other powerful political people. At least 10% of all government spending goes “missing” or “unaccounted for”. There is your spark note version? Do you want sources? Next time I’ll be sure to include the bibliography
Could be worse. San Diego approved 32 million to convert an abandoned office building into 41 studio apartments for temporary homeless residents. For 750k I will give them my house and they don't need to stay in some crappy 1000 sq/ft studio apartment and I will take that and buy a McMansion.
You could dump $40 million into homelessness project and still not 15 lives. Why? if you don’t stop the misappropriation of government funds nothing can be done. Follow the money and stop the thieves and then you’ll have chance for change.
They are playing musical chair with the public money.... $40 million : 10 million to study how to solve homeless problems, 10 million clean up homeless encampment, 10 million for food and shelter-tents😊, and 10 million..we don't know where it is😊 We need another 50 million to solve this problem for our city...it's terrible
It's not fair that people who have homes and pay taxes have to live by a completely different set of laws then homeless. If i was to set up a tent inside city limits, camp on public property, or light a fire i'd be fined or even jailed but for some reason if i was homeless not only would it be allowed but encouraged by some people. There comes a point when people begin realizing the more honest and hard working they are the more they're being treated like slaves with no rights and they're going to start becoming resentful.
Yup "I want to add a shed to my property." "Not after 3 licenses and a visit from the Board of Health, the inspector...!" The hypocrisy of leftist pols never ceases to amaze.
Personally I think homelessness needs to be criminalized. Not cause they don’t have homes but because of the blight, trash, health hazard and drugs they bring with their lifestyle choice. Put them in prison and make them work for cents per week to repay all the services they used and never amounted to anything from it.
Give me $32, 000 dollars tax free -- A YEAR. I can live on that! Or do I have to wait until at 65 when I am completely out of savings that are minuscule already, to qualify for a $32, 000 bed? I don't do drugs, drink, or smoke anything and at 62 have almost nothing to my name, yet I worked my entire life making almost nothing and put myself through college without debt. Why do people like us have to become homeless drug addicts before we can get help?
@@kymo6343 if they stay there yes if they decide that drug is part of their lifestyle then jail. You can only lead a horse to the water...you can't make it drink.
Where are all those tax dollars going? They must be held accountable, follow the money! Because it's not going towards fixing the homeless situation obviously. Enough already.
I went to visit California. 2 years ago. I had never seen homeless people living like that.their really not homeless if they have a tent with a bunch of junk laying around it. Here where we live they don't have tents. They sleep in shelters or on the ground somewhere. Now that's homeless.
@@Network126 Well yeah bc an RV isn't rly a true home. I'm living in one too and yeah it's better than being on the streets any day but it's not a proper home with everything a real home needs.
The solution is simple: offer housing assistance, drug & mental health services and employment training to those who want it. If you decide to NOT take these services, than than you must deal with the consequences of that decision which IMO should be prison or some sort of facility where they are kept off the streets. The vast majority of people out there are NOT homeless. They are there because they made very poor choices.
So what’s the solution for those who choose not to go to services? You say “then they must deal with the consequences of that decision “ this is not a solution and you are back to square one. We need to bring back Government mental institutions
Sounds like the city of Sacramento needs an audit to see exactly where the money does go they have a budget I think they need to make that public I think the public and taxpayers have a right to ask for an audit to see where all the money is going and if they're giving it to other companies to see where those companies say they are spending it meanwhile I don't believe a word of what the mayor Steinberg says because the facts show that he has done everything possible to keep homelessness going and I wonder why the city of Sacramento does not give a crap about the homeless people or the people whose houses they're camped out in front of it wasn't even on their agenda for this meeting it was only brought up in other people's concerned citizens comments about measure o which apparently they're trying to get out of even though the voters voted it in they do everything they can to get out of helping the homeless I'm pretty sure they all hope that the homeless would just OD on fentanyl so they wouldn't have to deal with them but then how would they collect money to line their greedy pockets it is really sad that elected officials and Democrats at that who say they care about people just use the people to make money off of their suffering and those around them I think it is time for the citizens of Sacramento to file a class action lawsuit against the city of Sacramento for not keeping the streets safe for interfering with businesses for for interfering with children walking to school people using parks people being able to park their cars safely etc etc I think it is time for a class action lawsuit like in Phoenix
Somebody should bring homeless to the city council meetings so they can speak and advocate for themselves and the city council could help them directly Maybe make flyers about when and where the City Council meetings are and take them around to the homeless camps
Why people in cahrge of this earning 6 figures and has not accomplished anything? They want the situation to stay the same otherwise they are out of the job. Stop the corruption.
I'm Homeless 5 Years in Sacramento and I Know there is no Help ever coming for us. Even if they build affordable places to Live those who are paying alot now for rent will just relocate and take those affordable homes again Leaving homeless homeless. JESUS says these leaders who left us like this WILL go to Hell to experience life like we had to and we get Paradise ♥️✝️👍 they mine as well enjoy it while they got it because there is Hell to Pay and it's 💯 Real it's not just a Popular word
Jesus also said God helps those who help themselves. Try getting your shit together instead of blaming society for you failing to even meet bare minimums.
@@asacor9435 I got a job but I can't Leave cause I have Kids to support. Being homeless doesn't make me a bum you need to get with Reality that Rent is unaffordable. The low income for people receiving SSI benefits for being challenged, mentally or physically handicapped Is so low that they can't find affordable housing. They couldn't afford a small studio apartment even if there was one available. 😢

@@mwatercress I don't want to be a grifter.😥 grift·er /ˈɡriftər/ noun INFORMAL•NORTH AMERICAN plural noun: grifters a person who engages in petty or small-scale swindling. "I saw him as a grifter who preys upon people"
They are not supposed to live off their SSI. They need to get a job. Every time I walk into a store in my city there is always someone working there that has a disability, which I think is great. Cities could reduce taxes and help pay healthcare costs for any company that would hire people with Drug and Psychological problems.
Why can't we have a place for them all to go with their tents and have it be THE ONLY place they can set up camp. With bathrooms and a laundry mat and services if they want help .
70% of the homeless population have drugs and alcohol problems... And they are not getting treated properly by the government. U do not treat a drug addict with another drug... That's just getting him hooked up to multiple drugs. Let em quit cold turkey 🦃. Keep em in an isolated place where they wont have access to drug and alcohol for at least 3 years...Trust me that will send a message to the rest of the addicts.
It's called jail. Addiction is not a "disease". Put the person in jail without the ability to steal or buy drugs and this so-called disease goes away. However, if you put a person with cancer in jail without access to meds or treatment they will get worse because cancer is a real disease.
What about those of us homeless who actually work and aren't on drugs? I can't find help. I just need some affordable damn housing. I'm paying $400/mo to a "vanlord" to live in an old dilapidated RV on the street without electricity or running water.
1st if there's laws passed YOU find undesirable gather people up and undo the laws . Meanwhile don't ever lose your home & job , YOU WILL FIND OUT REAL QUICK , WHAT A CRIME IT IS TO BE A POOR CONSUMER . YOU should try living without a house & job , YOU WILL LEARN SOMETHING .
And yet…the money is being spent..what’s wrong here people? Where is the money going…City leaders? Ca needs to be sued and fined for allowing this to happen, and for not finding resolutions, government people need to loose their jobs.
How many businesses have shut down or are moving because of the homeless and drug problems downtown. That would be a good follow up story for our local news channels to do.
They need more diverse dense housing, to get more taxpayers to cover those services. The residents complaining can't pay that b/c they live in Single Family homes.
Stop spending money and start spending “time” trying to figure out positive steps to reduce the need for homelessness! Each person’s situation is different and so a distinct approach is needed for each individual. It’s not going to happen overnight but with careful planning, absolute dedication and a whole lot of teamwork from caring, non judgmental and likeminded enthusiasts then the people can really see some positive and constructive results and feedback!
Corruption in this country is extremely shocking.. can you actually imagine where that 32k is going 😂😂😂 that’s why there is a hell and God said thou shall not steal.. have mercy on this wicked world ruled by wicked people in government
They are not going to crap, what a waste of time. How disgusting having all them homeless encampments everywhere, I couldn’t imagine the smell of pee and poop emitting from all of those streets, that will never go away. The city is destroyed, I couldn’t live there.
Why is it always a war on poor people and not a war on poverty?? The city could be using those resources to provide jobs and training for those who need it so they can be self sufficient. $32k a year is a pretty decent salary for someone who is forced to sleep in a tent.
Giving more money to poor people doesn't fix anything. The problem with most of the homeles is that they can't make logical decisions to help themselves. For example in the midwest where I live employers are begging for workers and decent appartments can be had for $600 a month. I have zero empathy for the homeless.
First San Diego, now the state capital, hopefully this starts a trend. The residents of cities are sick and tired of this crap and don't want it anymore. I don't want to hear "where will they go" the cities have spent WAY too much money trying to help them and obviously they are absolutely incapable of doing so, it's time to actually listen to the people who pay taxes and fund all of this garbage. Giving money to various charities? What the f have they done? It seems like the only thing they've done is given them tents to ruin the city with, imagine if they used all that money to purchase a big area of land just outside the city, not only would you have some place for them to go but could actually create services that are very centralized to all their needs.
Mismanaged Our Government gives billions of taxed dollars to foreign countries. Cities spend millions of taxed dollars on civic buildings, museums, parks, roads, bridges, animal adoption centers, etc. The government and cities should built night sleeping shelters (Chinese style pods would be good) with showers and toilets availability. Our soldiers should oversee these facilities, if they can safeguard foreigners in their countries can help homeless Americans. All churches in America should feed the hungry. We pay plenty of taxes. Mismanage by our government. Every American deserves a safe place to sleep, shower, and toilet use.
Stop using money and start using prison labor time. Round up, imprison and force them to work to pay off the debts they’ve incurred by being a hazard and criminal. Stop giving homeless $275000 per person in aid and services. If you drop it to $0 per person and make it known the homeless aren’t welcome in society anymore they’ll either leave, die on the streets or go back to families - all benefit us.
There is SO MUCH space out in the California desert near Palm Springs and east. Put all the $$$ into building a 'homeless facility' out there and give every homeless person a choice: accept help where you are with housing, mental health, addiction issues and job training ot be FORCED to relocate to one of our 'homeless facilities.' Get them OFF the streets. Having a home is NOT a human right. It is a EARNED privilege.
Rules and Regulations don't work for an intractable problem that requires Money and lots of it. $20 Million is not even going to come close, get some Federal Grants for Billions, that might put a dent in the issue.
Back in the day there was a well run and maintained encampent on the American River over by the Almond Factory. Then Oprah did a story on it and it got shut down. We need to have a safe space (with access to water to cool off) for them to be. I get why people get annoyed with the sidewalk encampents but until the city actually designates some areas that are accesible, sustainable, and not the middle of a scorthing parking lot this will persist. People have to have a place to set up. Even if it annoys you.
*What's the politics like in Sacramento? Lots of sensible, logical, ethical council members, mayor, police chief, DA, etc? Or folks who are mainly "woke?"*
What homeless person strung out of meth wants to work, and more importantly what business owner would be stupid enough to hire a meth head junkie? Oh wait, Hunter Biden got hired as a corporate executive in a Ukrainian company while addicted. Probably had nothing to do with his father being Vice-President at the time.
it's basically the same problem with ppl getting out of prison -- recidivism. even if you get an addict clean, they probably don't have any job skills that would support basic rent in these ultra-expensive liberal cities. i've said for a long time all this money could have literally built a city just for them to go to designed to be affordable. if nothing else send them to communities in real america that can absorb a few, places where you can go to work and actually support yourself. finding ones that will work is the trick. some of these bums have been on the streets for ten years, the last thing they want is stability and a job. there's a channel on YT of a guy who shows you hot to survive hopping freight trains, where to sleep, where to hide your stuff from stop to stop. it's a lifestyle choice.
Things must be really serious! It's not often that you see regular, working people at a city council meeting. I had a problem with building permits a while back so had to deal with the board of supes in person. What a revelation! It took all day, several days in a row. Lucky I work for myself. And the place was packed with hysterical activists and the babbling insane, literally. The politicians must peer out over this sea of lunacy and think, "So this is my constituency. I'd better do whatever crazy, impractical thing they demand." Thus the kooks and crooks decide how the rest of us will live in their asylum.
The low income for people receiving SSI benefits for being challenged, mentally or physically handicapped Is so low that they can't find affordable housing. They couldn't afford a small studio apartment even if there was one available
Everybody feels personally put upon. This situation exists in every city. The social contract has broken, and you are leaving fellow human beings to die on your sidewalks here in America. It is inhumane. If you honestly can't help them ... or just won't ... euthanize them. Don't leave them there to die like this.
Oh please, some of us move to places we can afford to support ourselves and others move to places they believe will support them. If you want to invite them into your home, I commend you. While I commend you I wouldn't recommend it. I have the scars that show that many good deeds do not go unpunished. I would fully support punishing anyone who felt compelled to euthanize the unhoused based on your hyperbole and I would support holding you responsible too.
