I'm loving my 21 Challenger Scat Pack widebody, had it 3 years this month, just over 18k miles. Black on black fully loaded. Don't need any special sticker packages or badges, it does everything I need and looks incredible. So glad I bought it when I did!

Good one you. Those cars are so intoxicating. I missed my opportunity years ago. Im glad to see people like OC holding these dealers feet to the fire. Perhaps I can finally get my Hellcat without paying BMW M8 Competition prices! Im glad you’re enjoying your car Jeff. Ride the wheels off it!

You have the right mindset and more owners of these cars need to have the same one because those who have the opposite that just treat these as collector cars only and don't enjoy them are toxic to the culture. I'm super happy for you!!!😇

The only way to truly preserve an engine is to first drain all oil and fluids and replace with Kerosene. Fill it until there is no air left. This preserves every seal and component. That’s coming from an old Indy car mechanic.

My '23 Chrysler 300C SRT(one of 2000 made)WILL get used for my enjoyment as long as I'm breathing air on this planet. Matter of fact, I'm on a 1500 mile road trip right now with this car and am enjoying driving this badass ride immensely in the process. It turns heads and attracts a crowd at cars & coffee get-togethers, and is nowhere near as risky to own as a Scat Pack or Hellcat, for obvious reasons of theft, insurance, and overall operating costs, not to mention stealership markups. Yes, these speculators who paid stupid $$$ for these "last call" vehicles and think they will appreciate in value, well, they are sadly mistaken IMHO. Let a vehicle sit for 15-20 years and see how much damage it does, especially to brakes, fuel systems, and tires/rubber parts, not to mention ABS plastic that gets like ceramic with age. They will have a very expensive and useless piece of shit when all is said and done. Great video, thanks for sharing this with everyone.

Just took my new 23’ 300C for her first short road trip down in southern VA from MD and love this car more and more. There’s also a Charger HCWB Redeye in my garage back home but I’d much rather drive this car for longer trips and it’s a ridiculously loaded car for the price, which I paid sticker/MSRP and not a penny over. My dealer tried it but I wasn’t budging. I still can’t believe I snatched this beautiful beast off the showroom floor with 14 miles on the odometer. I’ve only seen 2 since January and it drops just as many jaws as my Redeye.

I bought a 50 yr old Charger and am taking it apart because just about everything needs to be redone even though it only has 56K miles. I've had the engine rebuilt by an engine specialist, most of the rest of it I can do myself and that is where I get a lot of satisfaction and not have it screwed up by a shop. The good thing about future restorations on new collector Challengers is there will be plenty of parts because there are so many of them. 1st G and 2nd G Chargers have a LOT of one year only parts that can be a b*tch to find if the original can't be restored. 'Cudas are way worse. And expensive. But that's also what makes them valuable. Ultimately it's not low miles, it's not condition (I'm sure you're aware of rusted out Chargers and 'Cudas getting stupid money) it's desirability. I've heard GTX owners complain that their cars aren't worth as much as 2G Chargers even though they made a lot less of them.

In 1996 I purchased my 1987 Iroc-Z with just 31k miles, today 28 years later it has 82k, I used it, it’s still stone stock. But over the last 28 years I would purchase extra parts when GM still offered original parts. Case in point my daily 09 Crown Victoria P71 has 152k, I purchased it in 2017 with 62k and it’s running 100% 👍

Hard pill to swallow. But yeah. Although it’s nice to see a time capsule once in awhile at a show or museum, as far as owning one to actually make memories, not so good memories. I’m in the market for an 87 Buick GNX but I balk at the super low mile ones but the high mileage ones have been treated like a cheerleader that got passed around by the football team…..on prom night. Haha. So something in the middle like my 87 GN mostly un molested with 51k and even then I’m just waiting for something stupid to happen on my monthly cruise.

There's another point to bring up, when mentioning the older 'classic cars' and their collector value. A BIG part of the 'collector value' associated with the older classics, are the GREAT MEMORIES associated with those vehicles and THAT particular ERA in American history. If these new 'collector cars' sit in a garage for 20-30 years... They won't have a chance to get any GREAT MEMORIES associated with them. No great memories = No desirability = No REAL collector value. 😕

Great video and extremely valuable points you’ve made about the value maintaining. I also think there’s a technology aspect that makes future value even more unpredictable. We are currently in a 5G market with 6G rapidly on the horizon. My 2017 SRT GC is basically a brick when it comes to receiving software updates as it’s still a 4G platform. Newer cars have a ton of features and software that will be obsolete 10-20 years from now with no support. Just my thoughts and opinions. Take care

This is something that I learned a long time ago when I was 16/17 and the reason why I hate car collectors, cars need to be driven they're not art pieces that can just sit for long periods of time they rot and will ruin. I always laugh when I see Bring a Trailer 10+ year old cars that have delivery miles on them and the bidding is going crazy, you just know that none of those buyers are planning to drive that thing and if they are they're in for a shock. While I’m all for collecting cars to preserve them because they’re awesome, it shouldn’t take away the fact that at the end of the day, it’s still a car. It still needs to be driven to a certain degree, like you mentioned. To just let it sit and rot is kind of a waste of money. Then again, I’m not concerned about the value going up or down, but that’s my two cents.

People don't realize how bad it is to let cars sit for very long periods of time. Even regularly driven cars, something as simply as making sure to run the A/C periodically, so it cycles the freon and lubricant through all the lines. It helps lube all the seals and O-Rings. These Chargers and Challengers (even the Hornets) sitting now for upwards of 2 years, OUTSIDE mind you....is terrible. And no way in hell, are these dealerships starting each and every one of these cars daily/weekly to keep them going.

You drive home a really good point there OC. Cars are meant to be driven at the very least selectively if nothing else. Here's what I wonder about however, will there be after market parts support for these cars 10-30 years from now? See I'm not so sure there will be. Even if there some of these parts are still available I'm wondering what they will cost years, decades from now? I guess time will tell eventually!

My cautionary tale on speculating with cars is the 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Indy Pace Car edition. People bought those things and stashed them away. Now? They're a dime a dozen. Nobody actually used them.

Restomods are great. They improve things and make a version the factory/designer could only have dreamed of doing back in the day. Its a shame the black ghosts and other limited editions will not have lives lived on the roads like they should have. Probably only the new one owned by the son of the original black ghost owner/driver will see a life on the street.

Another thing is when a majority of the cars are stored and not driven. People don’t have fond memories of owning one, knowing someone who had one, or seeing them in use. I know I get nostalgic when I see an old Pontiac like my mom had, than the rarest Porsche or Lamborghini.
