I was a high school student at the time and visiting my father at a Sisal plantation in Fort Hall where he worked at the time. It was great fun watching these cars zoom past. There was a foreign photographer wearing an AGIP T-shirt with a picture of a six legged Lion and taking pictures of the cars with a Lubitell box Camera. He lined up the five of us lads and took some pictures as we waved the cars past, none of us ever saw the man again and neither did we ever see the pictures.
1st two minutes. What happened to our beautiful Nairobi. Now Nairobbery, is filthy, corrupt and full of crime. We used to ride our bikes in the suburbs, the same houses now have high fences, alarmed gated and armed security. Its a disgrace.
I can't imagine driving a rough course in Africa in an English car with Lucas Electrics and then finding the road flooded. Probably as perilous as driving in Africa today.
