Fresh Pepper hey fresh I'm from North Carolina and I live in. a HUD provided house worth $370.87 that's worth the great bargain and I'm only renting some of the time. the only apartments I can get near los Angeles city college ,which it is. on the west side but not too expensive is Roslyn apartments on main street. but you mention Glendale where the oringinal Glendale music academy and of course beautiful downtown Burbank, thinking doing producing engineering and music technique, editing and directing commercials and films in Berkeley USC.
Alhambra (in the San Gabriel Valley) is also worth considering. It's super safe, clean, affordable and has good proximity to many desirable spots. The food scene is simply amazing there (especially if you love Asian cuisines). Just something to consider!!
Helpful video! I have been to all the places you mentioned at one time or another. I think the reason many people like LA, is the nightlife, restaurants, and architecture. Do they move there for safety, not sure. The "safest," place is kinda relative too. What might make one person feel safe, might put another on edge. If you are thinking of moving, best to always contact the sheriff's department, for the neighborhood you are looking, and the check out their blotter. You can find out all sorts of unbiased information on a city, a neighborhood, even a block, or an address. It pays to do a little research. The next step would be finding a realtor to help you narrow your search, based on what your criteria is. Knowing an area is important, so you want someone who knows the area you want to move well, as a long time resident. I reside in and specialize in the South Orange County area, so I know where to find places within a desired budget, and where to look.
I’m from New York City. A Nurse .. I thought about moving to the West Coast ..thank you for showing us different towns in LA the detail of pricing, things to do and I appreciate your video. Thank you so much very informative.😊
I'm in DTLA. My office is also downtown, which makes commuting a breeze, and you're right, it almost has an NYC feel to it. (As a former New Yorker, that was important to me when I first moved out here.) I lived in Koreatown before making the move to DTLA - I did NOT like it. I don't know where I'm moving to next, but I will surely NOT return to Koreatown. One last thing - I have never heard anyone pronounce "Los Feliz" like that, hahaha! But it's all good. Great video, my man. Very informative and on point. Cheers!
This all depends on your lifestyle. If you have a family with younger kids/high schoolers it is better to live in the nice clean suburbs, with a lot of parking, a lot of parks and open spaces. Honestly, Glendale and Burbank is super safe with a lot of open spaces and parking. North Glendale (La Crescenta/La Canada) is like what you see in the movies in terms of suburbs. Pristine clean streets with no crime and nice middle class homes. Also, most of the San Gabriel Valley like Pasadena (not West Pasadena), Arcadia, Alhambra, Monterey Park are all good areas for families. The school districts also are high ranking. San Gabriel Valley has a lot of Asians and Asian restaurant/businesses. But in general, wherever there are a lot of Asians in a city, they tend to be quieter/cleaner/better districts. If you are young and care about the whole night life, bars, clubs, then I guess it's better to be near Koreatown, Downtown LA, etc. Those areas feel crowded and busy like New York. East LA and South LA in general are the "hood areas." Sounds mean, but most of those areas are poor people and gang infested. Think of the movie "Boyz in the Hood"..that's South and East LA. The Santa Clarita area is affordable, but again that is more like suburban peaceful living. The san fernando valley is a mix of clean and pretty suburbs or gang infested "hoods."
Back in my USC grad school days, lived near downtown (W. Adams Blvd.), Studio City (Moorpark St.) and West LA (Evensong Dr.). Loved and survived them all almost unscathed.
Shawn Osburn I looked into that as well. A lot of safe neighborhoods in LA have an F or D crime score because of petty crimes. The score factors in the volume/frequency of police reports and doesn’t actually look into the types of crimes committed. Hope this makes sense
How long have you lived in LA? I was born a raised there but almost all of your suggestions had awful crime rates! Did you check out Eagle Rock where I lived for 16 years AND it’s right next to Glendale. It has turned into a nice artsy community and people who work at the studios in Burbank live there!
K-town is pretty affordable but parking is HORRIBLE. If you plan to live there and have friends over tell them all to Lyft/Uber or they’ll be circling the neighborhood for hours lol also a lot of people double park to save spots which is so annoying & if someone is having a bad day they can definitely fuck with your car. AND be careful where you park your car overnight (if it’s on the street) because one day it’ll be there, the next day someone could’ve stolen parts of it or even steal the entire thing. It’s like a roulette game 🤣 & DTLA has a massive population of homeless (skid row) and a lot of people who walk around that are on something 🥴 but a lot of them are really nice if you get to know them! 🤣 just an FYI. Love my people & city tho! 💜
I'm moving to Los Angeles California by 2023 I'm moving in my friends at their place in Los Angeles it's four years since I've seen them i can't wait to move back there and start my life over there I've missed the beaches and other stuff I'm actually looking forward to moving back there in 2023 I'm done living where I'm at it's not as fun as I'd thought it would be as well
@@tonga05 welcome to California hope you have a wonderful time in Los Angeles California I'm planning on moving back there with my boyfriend i hate living in San Francisco
I watched this video like 20 times before I moved to Los Angeles for a job. Thank you man. I ended up picking Koreatown. Really central and you could be anywhere in Los Angeles in under 45 mins. I wouldn't raise a family here. It is the most densely populated area in Los Angeles. If you find a spot along Western north of Wilshire you can snag parking spots in Hancock Park. I pay 1275 for a 400 sq ft studio (utilities included). Could get a 600 sq ft 1 bedroom for 1550. Stay northwest of Vermont and Wilshire if you plan on moving to K-town. Wilshire Blvd has all the Metro stops and nightlife. I'm planning on making a move to West Hollywood. Cheaper than Venice Beach, fun, and central. 1400-1800 for a studio apt. Really fun along the Sunset Strip.
Bro thanks for the tip! Haven't found anyone on RU-vid who did a video like this. You should do a video of apartments within each city. Especially Glendale because that's our favorite spot to stay at
Glendale Burbank Baldwin Hills Venice Echo Park Los Feliz -D-Town LA Korea Town -no parking D-Town LA 💓 -Arts district Noho -artists -studios -castings Studio city -not bad traffic -chill -Ventura restaurants -old apartments
I know my friend and I are looking to move into Los Angeles from Utah. Of course we are saving up first but since I am an interior designer and she is a graphic designer / web designer we were hoping to find some cities in California that would be safe/affordable and would help boost our job careers
Would you please explain the crime scores that you have listed in your video? For instance, for the city of Venice the crime score is listed as an "F" but you stated that it is a very safe city. Please explain? Thank you
How he forgot Marina Del Rey is mind blowing but then again it's certainly not cheap! Im an.A native and its definately one of my favorite areas in L.A
You need a college degree or some type of skill. Trying to live off of "jobs" isn't gonna cut it, cost of living is too high! Take on some debt, get a good/useful degree or skill, then move.
Not really, you will regret coming here. Rent is very, very expensive and you'll live literally in front of homeless tents or vagrants shooting meth everywhere. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend LA to no one. Do some research first.
@@jorll7916 stop down talking LOS ANGELES if you don’t like it then just say that but you sitting here discouraging people who want too move there… every state got its ups and downs… take your fuckin head out your ass.😒
Hi there! I’m moving this summer but I’m on the east coast searching for apartments & it’s kinda hard to choose a safe affordable space for me & my son. We’re both models & actors
@@testizelhey I’ll be turning 16 next year and as well immigrating to America Los Angeles early 2022 to major on acting/modeling. Can you add my IG? @local_west_african I’ve got a lot of question, You could maybe help with some tips and advice on moving to LA as a minor Ty :)
LOVE the video, LOVE your accent and you look GREAT!! (I don’t mean that in a derogatory or objectifying way at all!). Thank you for this video and really excited to live between LA and LDN. So excited!!! I’ve only been once to visit for work and LOVED it!☺️😎😎😎
I've been in Ktown the last 2yrs and wanted to move someplace more spacious but still safe, inexpensive, & maybe close to public transportation. Thx for these recommendations! I also lived in North Hollywood arts district for 5yrs and LOVED IT. Might go back, but first I'm curious about arts district LA, or even someplace outside LA like San Luis Obispo😅 Just want space
@@caringgurl4444 I think it's kinda a hit or miss. Highly recommend checking out apartments and surroundings in person, so that you can decide if it works for you. My sister and I were lucky to find a 1bedroom for $1350 and there are others like it, but have to be flexible with certain things you want and move-in date. For example, since it's 1bedroom, we have to share closet and can't have a lot of things that we left at our parents place. We're sisters, so it works for us. We also don't have dishwasher, have to pay for laundry, and parking is kinda horrible. The surroundings are great for us. Groceries, Starbucks, restaurants, shopping, train all nearby. The city is currently upgrading Ktown too with new condos and hip entertainment spots. Hope my info helps! :)
Hi, great video Fresh Pepper! I was hoping you could provide your source for median rental prices, to better understand the different price ranges in these areas. Thanks!
Hi Tenise, the score is based on the frequency of police reports in the area. There are a lot of petty crimes that occur in the surrounding areas and general police reports for minor incidents. The frequency is what gave it an F crime score
Born and raised in south LA. I’ve lived in various cities throughout South Bay. West side. Valley. Best place hands down. GARDENA. Aka Freeway City. Close to 110, 405, 91, and 105. 20 min to Beach cities (Manhattan, Redondo, Hermosa). 20 min to downtown Long Beach. Transit hub has direct on-ramp to Fastrack. This way you can avoid all the south LA traffic. We get to natural history museum in 15 min. Walking distance to some of the best restaurants in South Bay. Homes are relatively affordable. Schools are eh! But you can always try permit into neighboring Torrance. Fairly safe. Just stay south of Marine and west of Normandie! Good luck!
Where did you get these prices? I have never seen rent this cheap unless you are breaking down the cost per person. I like 30 miles outside of the city and still pay $2450 for a 2 bedroom.
You are the best🤗🤗 I'm so excited to move to LA this summer. What is the best way to find a roommate I don't know anybody in LA? Also an aspiring model, do you think I should get signed with an agency before moving? Thank you very much, you always motivate me 😘
Hi Tanzeel, its easier to get an agent once you're already living in LA, but it doesn't hurt to start doing some online submissions now. As far as finding a roommates you can try roomiapp.com/
You can check out the el segundo, Culver City, westchester, Manhattan Beach, and Torrance area to see if there are any places you like. Let me know when you’re here in California. I can recommend some good places to eat.
Moving to LA after the quarantine and I found this very helpful! I am familiar with a lot of these parts because I visit often, but it gave me idea of where to start looking at first!
Same here covid-19 here is making me want to move back to Los Angeles California by 2023 I'm done where I'm living at it's boring and dull i can't find Jobs where I'm at and the worst part of it is that I can't do anything there aren't any parties or anything like that
If you move to Long Beach look at Belmont Shores, it's lovely and right by the beach. I grew up in L.A but only when I left for a year did I realize how great L.A is compared to the rest of the U.S. California in general from San Diego L.A San Francisco is beautiful.
@@terrelbrown3216 thanks for the tips , it’s still on my watchlist but honestly spending 1100-1200 on a studio apartment that was built in 1989 dosent seem much worth it now that I’m looking at cities like Dallas and Phoenix where I can live downtown in a 600+sq ft 1bdroom for the same price around 1200 in one of those new modern style apartments with rooftop bars etc
Venice people’s cars get broken into a lot so be careful with that. Korea town that happens also. Not really any public transportation in K town either.
@@patbrown2699 We actually found better job opportunities and housing options outside of San Diego. I haven't ruled out LA someday, but not anytime soon.
I’m from a neighborhood in St. Paul where crime is common. Honestly crime wouldn’t scare me from moving to a neighborhood. I’m looking forward to moving
There are lots of great place to live in LA county. You should go check out westchester, Culver City, el segundo, Manhattan Beach, Torrance and lawndale to see if there is a place that you like. Let me know when you’re here in California. I can recommend some good places to eat.
I loved your video it was Insightful and entertaining. I will be moving to Los Angeles in February '22 and wondered what your thoughts of Little Ethiopia neighborhood? Thank you for your reply and again for the video.
Very interesting video. Just confused about the definition of neighborhoods since Burbank and Glendale are proper cities in the LA county. Apart from that, very cool tips!
Yes they are different cities but they are a part of the larger Los Angeles metro. Don't be afraid of living or working outside proper city limits. Cities like Burbank and Glendale and Pasadena among many others are much much closer to LA's historic central core of downtown LA (where it was founded) and where its main administrative and financial districts still reside, than areas much further north like Sylmar or Porter Ranch which are somehow considered a part of the city of LA proper. LA's "proper" city limits are the classic example of gerrymandering and politics in shaping the current city borders. It's a very irregular shape of city limit.
Still , even they are part of the metro the definition of neighborhood is wrong . Barcelona has also a big metro area with different neighborhoods and also cities liken Burbank inside of it .
I don't know if you pointed this out, but when you highlighted Koreatown, those shots are not of Koreatown, that's actually little Tokyo. Just to clarify for your viewers.
Just discovered your channel love the way you explain everything so calmly and superb video editing simple and very informative 💕💕🇮🇳love from India northeast
I hope you’ll be posting soon again. I’m new here but I’d love a new perspective in 2021. I’m Moving to la to reach bigger opportunities in modeling and acting in 2022
I'm from NYC and the rent all over is pretty high. People spend a lot of their income on rent. California seems like a different country when I see the videos. It also seems so unattainable unless you know people and have friends there. The weather seems so good. I could never imagine living anywhere, but NY, California, or Florida as many people leave the N.E. because of the weather. I knew one girl who came here from Pasadena for University and her parents had a good living, they owned a store I believe.
There's a company in Santa monica called Samo apts. They offer affordable housing in various parts of Santa monica and the process to get approved is pretty easy. I rented from this company for several years and lived in an amazing apartment and it was a great experience. I do know that Samo apts have raised their prices lately but its something worth checking out. There's also an affordable apt building called Rosslyn lofts in downtown LA but these apts are not very nice and kind of in a bad area called Skidrow. (I wouldn't recommend renting at Rosslyn if you are a single woman living alone but I think it'd be ok if you're single woman with a large dog or gun or boyfriend and probably ok if you're a guy)
What neighborhoods do you recommend if you work in Baldwin Park? Married couple, early 30's, might have kids one day, enjoy hiking, walking outside, farmers markets, walking our 2 dogs, a nice bar or two and meeting new people. Looking for a short/semi short commute to work. Any recommendations? We are from out of state.
Some affordable places people never seem to want to move to and are actually pretty safe and affordable are places like South Gate, Downey, Lynwood, Panorama City, parts of Maywood, and parts of Huntington Park. They are also about the sam distance from DTLA as some of the places mentioned in this video.
most of the safe affordable places like the ones you mentioned are only accessible by car and that's the problem as to why people avoid these places the public transit system doesn't really access these places and if it does they shut down really early like about 7:00 p.m. so you've got to have your own transportation to live in the areas you mentioned but you're right they're much safer and nicer I don't know what kind of trip this dude is on because why he lying
Great content...however, the bird's eye video footage for Korea Town is not correct. The footage is showing historical J-Town or Japanese Town and Cultural Center. Thanks.
Find another dream. L.A. will eat you alive. But if you're going to do it, bring a pile of money and understand....EVERYONE is a liar. EVERYONE. I should know, I'm one of them.
@@Dan4x2282 People will tell you they are something they are not. Actor, producer, agent.
