The public unveiling in St. Pölten, Austria, of the first of our 18 multifunctional, low-emission firefighting and rescue trains for ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG marks a major step forward in railway safety.
Built to the ÖBB safety and quality requirements, the new Stadler tailor-made rescue train is a pure innovative tactical all-rounder with a highly sophisticated extinguishing technology concept. At its head, the train has two extinguishers that can be controlled individually from the driver’s cab. The vehicle is well equipped in case of emergency, transporting firefighting equipment and offering enough room to evacuate more than 300 people in its three cars from damaged trains. Besides rescue operation, the powerful “Servicejet” is also suitable for carrying out maintenance work.
Meant to be stationed at Austrian tunnel portals and deployed on site to assist firefighters, the rescue train has already a two-country licence which allows its use on main and secondary lines on Austrian network. We are delighted to take the next steps towards the mobility of the future while ensuring more safety on rails.
