Just used my Parker 96R this morning. Very aggressive razor. I switched from the Parker blade to an Astra green, still a very aggressive razor. I agree with not using this razor as a 'daily' use. I'm not using this Parker again without a couple of days growth.

Thanks for sharing. It's a classy looking razor modeled after an old Gillette. The parker's typically lean towards the more aggressive, think it has to do with the head geometry

I was looking for a razor with a longer handle. I bought one these from Amazon. Used it three times and each time it cut and nicked the heck out of my face. They are non returnable so It sits in a drawer. Will continue the search.

So, my Parker 96R is back in my rotation as of tomorrow morning. I'll treat it as an aggressive razor akin to Mühle R41, i.e. as you say - with great respect. I'll go for a two pass shave: wtg - atg + pick ups. Thanks for the tips and inspiration.

@@GregTardif Thanks. I'll feel much better when I've learned to master this razor. The psychological side of it all is interesting. In September 2018 we moved to Granada in Spain for one of my 1 year sabbaticals and I realized that I had only carried with me the Mühle R41. I shaved with it 2-3 times a week untill May 2019 when the heat took hold and I wanted to shave every morning. I found a barbershop and bought a generic type DE89 razor to that end. Shaving with only the R41 during the winter worked fine as long as I adjusted my technique.

@@GregTardif Perfect two pass + pick ups with the Parker 96R with a Green Astra third use this morning. Treated her like an old lady, a bit like the R41. The R41 has a much heavier head though.

Thanks for this. I just bought the 99R. Wanted a longer heavier handle. First 2 shaves looked like Freddy Krueger hit my face. I have determined it is just nit gonna work. I shave minimum every other day and it appears my cheap walmart VanderHagen and my “Supply” SE take care if my needs. I would like to find a heavier DE razor tho that is suitable for daily shaving and sensitive skin. Thanks for the review.

There are a lot of options out and coming out all the time. Every other day shavers like us can go more efficient, just don’t chase getting a baby butt smooth shave
