I corresponded with Thomas to get my CZ Shadow 2 squared away, which took quite a bit of backing and forthing. Glad to see he is a real gunsmith, not some dorky sales guy! Much respect, bro.
We don't have sales people. If you call for support you are usually talking to a gunsmith. That is why you hear beating, grinding, and the occasional "oops" in the background.
I've dealt with Wilson Combat, CZ Custom and a host of other Custom Gunsmith shops, and I have to say Cajun Gun Works is the BEST. Thank You David , Daniel, Thomas and Dale!
Yeah just got off the phone with Thomas. He installed the pro package on my P01. I was so star struck that I asked him how he was doing twice and was pretty embarrassed. But seriously though, even with my social awkwardness he was patient, professional and explained everything in detail. I'll get to see the results when I get my pistol on Monday. Super fast turn around time.
Nothing to worry about. You can legally ship it directly to our shop we can return it, all without using a FFL. This is a provision of the 1968 Gun Control Act. We can send a prepaid label, making it easy and convenient. At any given time, we'll have 80+ pistols in our shop from CA.
Just got my P01 omega back after trigger job optic cut done absolutely amazing job. Getting ready to send them my rami. Great company friendly staff excellent customer service!!
Lived in west Monroe for 21 years had no idea these guys are as well known as they are. They do awesome work and have done awesome work for a long time. Great video
That first question is one I've asked a whole lot. Really prefer decockers over manual safeties. So much so that they're the only ones I'd carry. Unfortunately, CZ only makes a few decocker models.
Also share the same decocker preference for anything carried. CZ needs to make steel framed compacts with decocker. Might have to beg CGW (or CZC) to do a 75BD Compact L or modify a SP01.
I think you guys are genius. Everything you say comes from such knowledge and experience. You're the utmost cz experts. I can't wait to feel the trigger on your pro package. I have 2 guns into your shop and will be trusting them with my life.
I actually ended up shimming the sear cage in my SAO SP-01 manual safety, it got rid of that wiggle in the hammer and made the trigger pull really crisp, I hated that last bit of sponge in the pull made by that small gap. With the addition of the Standard Package trigger kit, race hammer and a lot of fine polishing I've got the pull down to 1.8 pounds and only .050" thou of total trigger travel, it hits the wall at .037" thou with only .002" of creep. CGW is the bee's knees😁.
@@556suppressor I ordered the SP-01 competition from them too. They were just discontinued hence the $999 pricetag. I couldn’t walk away. I’m a total Cz convert now. Thanks Shoot Straight.
Thanks for the honest feed. I have a CZ75 SP01 safety version. Been considering sending off for some upgrades. But I am seriously hestitant to let other hands touch the gun. I live in California, and for me to transfer my favorite handgun to another state... Well it gives me the heebie jeebies because California has 1001 ways to sieze your weapons. ... And nobody knows what crap they will legislate day to day. Have any suggestions for us here in communist Kalifornia???
I'm curious, does a factory CZ Shadow 2 (Blue) have the same setup where the sear cage is sprung so it doesn't cam the hammer back? If not, is that a possible mod you can do? My other question, as I'm new to CZ, but would like to purchase my first, is: What is the practical difference between the various hammers available for the CZ Shadow 2? Final question: is there a CZ Shadow 2 available with a full picatinny rail, rather than just the single cut slot? Reason I'm asking is I'd potentially like to be able to carry the CZ Shadow 2, and I think cutting a full picatinny rail would drop the weight a bit, as well as make it more practical.
The Shadow 2 sear cage is different from the TS2 sear cage. The factory gun comes with the CZ competion hammer which is ok. Our hammers that we offer here in house are better to help clean up the break. There isn't a full rail mount for them. The Shadow 2 wasn't designed with defense carry in mind since it is around 48oz.
@@cajungunworks526 Is it possible to mill a full length picatinny rail for the Shadow 2? It should also bring the weight down a bit, by removing some material off the steel frame, no? It just seems like such an oversight by CZ to not put out a factory version of a CZ Shadow 2 style pistol with a full picatinny rail. They've done it with the Shadow 2 Compact, why not the big brother? They milled one slot in, why not a full rail? I know the next question is: Why not just get the Shadow 2 Compact? I have a few reservations of that specific design. Like the fact they have an internally railed steel slide, riding inside of an aluminum frame. My concern is rail wear, and rail spread, over prolonged use. The other concern is no striker block safety plunger, this one is more minor, but still a bit of a concern. As for overall weight, most 1911's with pic rails weight around 42-43 oz, which isnt that much lighter than 46. I'm a big guy, 6'2-6'3, 300lbs, the weight isn't a huge deal breaker. Some people carry even heavier guns for their own reasons. I also own smaller and lighter pistols that are more my regular carry (Springfield XDM 3.8 Compact in .40 S&W, and a Walther PDP Pro SD Compact in 9mm). But I really want a full size steel frame handgun, that I can also carry if I wanted, or for more special occasions.
Over time I've come to agree. It is relatively simple to safely thumb the hammer to the half cock position while occluding the channel the hammer fits in the slide with your finger. Since the decocker only brings it to half cock anyway it is a valid practice and can be done safely. The only real advantage the decocker brings of being unable to accidentally put it on safe or fail to take it off safe is diminished some by the fact that on most of the safety models the manual safety cannot be engaged if the hammer is in the full double action or the half-cock position as they come from the factory if memory serves.
How would I go about sending in my Shadow 2 for some upgrades? Would I have to go to an FFL to send and receive it? I know that I have to go to an FFL to order a gun, but I don't know if that applies to this situation too.
On the "Contact Us" page of our website there is a message form you can fill out to request being added to our waitlist. When you are added you will get an email describing the process. When it is time to send the gun in you will get shipping instructions but no FFL is required.
@@cajungunworks526 Thank you; I actually have sent an email and gotten a quote from you guys about getting work done to my Shadow 2. I forgot to ask about the shipping process. I definitely wasn't looking forward to going through an FFL to send it away for work, so that's great news!
I want the CZ Sp01 Tactical, but I live in f*cking dumbass California, so I can’t have it. Ideally I’d get the basic Sp01 and install a Decocker. Edit: F*ck it. I’m getting the P01
