Hello Ziggy, I enjoy your videos. This one was my favorite for some reason, maybe it was because of the joy of misery element that goes with sailing. I am interested in doing some boating/camping in the Matagorda Bay area (Sunday Beach). I was wondering if I could pick your brain through friendly correspondence about boating in that area.
Looks like your guest could use a windshield. I use one on SF bay, besides protecting your sailingmate it keeps water out of your bilge. Thanks for the videos amigo! 😎
Yeah. And I have one we didn't use. I shouldn't have gone out into the bay. If I had stayed in the ICW, we would have been dry. The wind drove every little spray right into our faces.
I have a small Standard Horizon. No GPS in it. I also carry a Garmin Inreach for an emergency. As far as man overboard features, now that I've downsized to the Windrider I'm almost always solo sailing so a MOB system is not as important as it was on my 34 fter.. I have a MOB feature on my main GPS too. Although a GPS in the radio would be nice as redundancy as long as it didn't effect the battery life. I think the biggest thing I will be looking 4 on my next radio in USB charging capability. The cradle system worked for me in the Great Lakes fresh water but here on the Texas coast the salt water environment is hard on the contacts. Thus I have to keep the cradle packed away taking up storage space. When small boat camping for days every bit of space counts. Zig
