Located at the crossroads of the Mediterranean, the Maltese islands are a treasure trove of maritime history. To understand how the sea has shaped these lands over the millennia, Tricia and I hopped aboard a sailing boat bound for the island of Comino.
Along the way we would get a chance to see the fortifications of the Grand Harbour, including: Fort St. Angelo, Fort St. Elmo, and the formidable Senglea peninsula.
After exiting the Grand Harbour, we sailed up the coast towards the small island of Comino. This stretch of coastline has an incredible string of watchtowers built by the Knights of Malta.
Following a delicious seafood lunch with the Gatt family, the owners of Sailing Charters Malta, we made the sunset voyage back down to the Grand Harbour.
It was a great day sailing in Malta.
