thanks for watching! the website is here: http:/www.alluringarctic.com And as you all know, these videos are crowdfunded 😉 www.patreon.com/alluringarctic
For the past 4 months I've been wondering what's different about you and it's just dawned on me, that you got a haircut!... but you've been wearing a cap that's covering it up.. but I bet your scalp feels much better for it.👍😊
Never ever apologize for having a life beyond RU-vid and making videos. You have a life, you have jobs and you're doing your best. Thank you for all of your wonderful videos and for sharing your lives with us!
I think it's quite important to have/do things outside of youtube, despite what Mr Beetrooot does (yes I know he eats/sleeps/dreams/farts/smells/excretes youtube but not everyone should go to that extreme ).
For me, AlluringArctic is unique among sailing and adventure vlogs. Your Northwest Passage episodes are keenly awaited. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
@@AlluringArctic A sauna tent? Some version of it. You could take one to the shore when you go skiing or otherwise. Would be max Finnish content, extreme sauna-ing. Esim. savotta-fi. Parhaat terveiset Tallinnasta.
Tell me you’re from Finland without telling me you’re from Finland: „I‘m here to sit on the beach and watch the ice float by“. Nicely summarized and gave me a good chuckle 😁. A fellow finn.
@@SvengelskaBlondieHonesty the biggest thing that turns me off from other sailing channels is the feeling of disconnect. As if they just exist. With Alluring it feels so grounded in reality. They go grocery shopping, they ground the boat to fix problems, they talk about visa issues. They show us something incredible I've never seen
@@SvengelskaBlondie And even the ones which don't take that route do seem to go off the boil as the process of putting out videos becomes both more routine and (I would guess) more irksome. I think it's a bit like particle physics: when a process is observed, that unavoidably affects the process. I think this channel has retained its freshness and vitality (obviously some episodes are more vital than others, but I'm talking about the average) more than any other channel I can think of.
@@Gottenhimfella In some ways, it's sort of inevitable that some form of routine gets established, I can't think of doing something like that and not have that happening. I think one thing that helps is to have things other than just sailing, I like that they do stuff like skiing and waterboarding. some channels seem to have very little outside of just "we have boat, we live on boat, show boat on camera" thing going on.
First of all, you are the owner of your life, so no need to excuse yourself. We are grateful to share some moments of your incredible experiences in areas that we just dream about. You are very lucky to have such an exciting life with a beautiful and intelligent partner that shares your aspirations.
Upping my Patreon membership level to $50/month and encouraging others to do so as you and Sohvi get ready for the North West Passage. I applaud you staying in the moment, and not filming every moment.
Yeah. In the south of my home waters, where I sometimes sail, we occasionally get 80 knots of wind even in harbour and it's a challenge. At that wind strength, containers not restrained well enough blow off the dock. Not good for any boat that's in the way...
Live data being transmitted from the boat would be called 'telemetry' data. You just do as many or as few videos as you feel like. They are such high quality gems of beauty and exploration that they are well worth the wait. Live your own life. You only get one. Your videos are the only ones that I share on social media, because your cinematography, your wide variety of skills, adventurous spirit, and sensitivity to your beautiful surroundings make your videos jewels of the RU-vid world. So you just do you.
Hi guys, you shoot some of the very best videos on U Tube. The nature shots are great and then to get the ski content as a bonus is just great value. I’d take your quality over quantity every time.
Do you worry about bear? Wolves? Whenever you can put out a video, I very much appreciate it. This is so unique and amazing. I love it. Your adventures ARE SPECIAL. And I know hard to make. So when ever you can, it’s great. Thank you. Don’t let the documenting spoil your voyaging. 😊
Truly an impressive video. I realize these videos take lots of time and erroft to produce. Thank you. My wife and I sailed oceans together for over 55 years. Great experiences, however we almost always stayed between 40S and 40N. You guys are incredible. Your lady/crew is DOUBLE incredible. HOW do you get her to stay??? 😂
Don't sell yourself short Juho. Some of us very much appreciate you providing voice to your thoughts. For instance, "I'm here to sit on the beach and watch the ice float by". Bravo!
I'd much rather watch one high-quality video once a month from you than 4 from some of my other channels because you never disappoint. The drone shots with music are just incredibly well shot and edited, hands down world-class footage.
Chances are your treading ground that no other human has kind of makes you wonder how far back in time your footprints are traveling. I find the view mesmerizing.
"I'm here just sitting on the beach to watch the ice float by" To me that humble sentiment superbly sums up the best philosophy for blending with Nature and staying true...and that's why I watch your videos. Thank you and I'm looking forward to following your Northwest Passage and Greenland journey.
Thanks for explaining your reasons for less video and I would rather see you and your partner exploring places and enjoying it without the pressure of camera. Like you said, you're ready to shoot something if its worthwhile. It makes the 1once a month video even more precious because you both explore places beyond that of any other sailing channels I know at present. No worries and Be Happy. We support you both.
hershey's is like bad coffee, it is fine until you try the good stuff. You do you, I'll watch when you put something out. The scenery is amazing. No need to compare yourself to other sailing channels. Everyone has their own motivation.
Having just visited Alaska this past summer (2023) with my family, I am just awestruck with the beauty that you are experiencing while cruising. Your videos are amazing, and I can't believe the bitter cold that you both are able to endure. I especially love your skiing mixed in with the drone shots, just beautiful!!! Keep up the awesome videos, I love them!
Well, Hershey's makes eating chocolate, it is just not sold in stores very often and only appears around Easter time period. The stores stock and sell the cheapest version of Hershey's. You get what you pay for.
Most Americans prefer dark chocolate. Milk chocolate is cheap, that's why it's ubiquitous. Make a buck no matter what. They make a pretty good 5 ingredient syrup.
I like that your videos show what it’s really like and not this perfect false reality that other sailing channels do. Glad to see you guys back aboard. Boat faired well considering the weather and wind conditions. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us!
11:02 this is one of the reasons I love your channel! Your channel is the only one I’ve seen with sailing and skiing in such beautiful surroundings. Thank you for sharing this with those of us stuck in suburban life!
We’re here for the quality not the quantity. Exceptional video production. I can’t stand the bikini sailing crap. It’s just Alluring Arctic and TallyHo. Carry on!
Alluring Arctic and RAN Sailing are the only two sailing channels I watch now. I said bye bye to La Vagabond years ago. Though they do have a badass boat again. At least Riley is a true sailor...
@@Heathen22 its a shame about lavagabonde because anytime Riley did solo sails, or their older crossings etc it was awesome. But hey they got a whole family now so i can't judge the dude.
Taking pictures and videos and sharing their beauty with friends and family is much more humane than generating content for the masses. I have a hard time believing that the people that watch sailboats sailing in winter are the typical RU-vid sailing demographic. There is a serenity to the north-woods that is mystical and alluring. Once you glimpsed that spark it is hard to not be drawn back to it over and over. I am really excited to come along on your NW Passage. What an adventure that will be. Fair winds!
I certainly understand your reasoning for not wanting to spend your time pumping out videos. The videos that you do produce are of such high quality that they are worth the wait in my opinion.
top 3 youtube video I have ever watched. And I am talking about every one of their videos. The channel is such high quality it blows others out of the water!
Hey Juho, easily the best sailing YT channel for scenery and stunning locations. I’m not a skier but even I love your skiing / snowboarding sequences and the photography/ videography and drone work are the best! Love a few little technical sailing tips thrown in occasionally but please just keep doing what you’re already doing. Infrequent, high quality videos are so much more engaging than the torrent of rubbish that is so common on other YT channels. Very much looking forward to seeing your journey through the northwest passage. Cheers from Tasmania, Australia.
Couldn't agree more. If you spend too much time sharing your life with us, you don't spend enough time living it. I appreciate your style and content. No rush! Life is like the old adage of flying: aviate, navigate, communicate. Keep the plane flying safely, once that's set, work on where you're trying to get to. Once that's handled, get on the radio and talk to others. You're doing fine.
I totally get your top 3 reasons. If I could paraphrase it, you're more into creating something worthwhile the effort. That is sooooo evident in your cinematography. I'm beyond excited for the trip through the NW passage this summer! Thanks for taking me along.
I’m not sure if you realize how unique, original and beautiful your videos are. There are so many videos that are very much like a hundred others but yours are very different than most others. Not only that but they are really interesting. I enjoy them very much and am among the others that would like to see more but I honor your choices and we will see them when we do. God bless.
I'm so proud to be a Finn! These two sailors are the very most interesting couple that sailing in the world! So original, hyvää matkaa ja kertakaikkiaan paras YTube video. CHEES, Ben
It is wonderful you are sharing your journey with us. Please don't ever feel you have to produce a weekly episode. Quality over rides quantity every time. Keep doing what you are doing it makes your channel refreshingly different. Cheers Eric
You two guys are an inspiration, what a way to spend our short time on Earth. The peace, beauty, romance and adventure your sharing with us has me very envious. Safe travels, love from Scotland 🏴 ❤
Juho this video reminded me of what hooked me on your sailing channel 4 years ago. A crazy Finn and his lovely girlfriend sailing above the Arctic circle, sailing, skiing, and not trying to freeze to death while shooting amazing drone footage and entertaining us all with your sense of humor. I laughed pretty good a the important skiing gear showcased in the outdoor beverage cooler. Another great video. If you are stressed about the number of creations a month then consider changing your Patreon subscriptions to one charge per month. Many creator have done this whether they put out 1 or 8 episodes a month depending on the level of interesting activity they have to share. This give you the flexibility to work on a single longer higher quality episode as opposed to grinding out shorter videos each week or two. Keep up the great work. Glad to see you back in full Alluring Arctic Sailing form and I totally look forward to watching you and Sohvi navigate the Northwest Passage journey. Thanks for sharing..
I am amazed how brave the two of you are, the path you are taking seems so dangerous but you calmly ground your boat in a remote cove like it’s no big deal. In fact, though I’m a Georgia boy living in Florida, I got a chill watching you and Sohvi climb and ski down hill. Love your videos and agree with other comments, it’s about quality, not quantity.
I'm with you. Sit on the beach and watch the ice float by. I don't need to know where you are itching or what you had for lunch. Too many vids just ramble on about nothing. I'm here for the adventure and scenery. Really like your photography.
Do what ever you want the way you want to do it. I am so lucky and happy that you let me participate in your voyage through this beautiful part of the world. What an outstanding work you both do. Thank you!
Just stumbled across your channel and now following. I can see where all the hours of footage and edit time go - the quality is so good. You are doing something that few of us will ever do and it is a privilege to be let into your world for a while each month. Wishing you well for your passage planning.
you be you and sohvi be sohvi, im sure thats what most of us like the most. your vids are of exceptional quality and always 100% interesting. stay true dudes...lovin it
I've missed your videos. You're in such stunningly beautiful scenery and doing things no one else is doing. I understand you not wanting to spend your every waking hour making and editing videos, but when we see the end product, they are on a level that far surpasses other sailing channels. Excellent video as always
I enjoy all your videos and respect your decision to not be a slave to your channel. Srick to your principles! We will be looking forward to your Arctic passage.
Thank you a million times! I just love your videos! Thank you! I get to travel with you guys from Paris's suburbs and it is absolutely amazing! I personaly don't care how many videos you do per months, whenever you feel like it, just keep sharing! Wishing you all the best for all your futur adventures!
I’m happy with the high quality videos,do what you want to do. Life is to short, to do what others want you to do .Sovhi says little, but she always has that grin on her face.✌🏻
I sail NS, Canada and love your vids. I keep my boat in the water year-round, gradually try to enjoy more seasons on board. I learn much of howto and what to wear from your vids. Thank you both.
I totally understand your reasoning for quality content. I once again started watching for a while. I can't stop. the great scenery and the non-bikini content just keeps me watching!
Little tip from a fellow (old) sailor - when leaving boat docked in an area where it might snow, cover as much as you can with a tarp(s). When you return you can just lift the tarp and the snow will fall overboard. Even works with ice. I also recommend a large push broom to push off any remaining snow. Cheers
I will follow You all the way, you have an adorable way living, I wish I was younger cause You have shown me that it is all possible. Thank You Juha and Sohvi for a woderful and peaceful insight
I really enjoy your videos. I've always dreamed of doing what you two are doing. Don't feel pressured to release tons of videos. Release them when you feel like it, we'll be here to watch them! Save travels!
The average sailing yootoober would have taken a camera all over Finland for the two months you were back home. I like the mystery. We don't need to meet your uncle and cousins or experience shopping in a Finnish supermarket. Thanks for sparing us. Enjoy the beauty,
Spectacular! I appreciate your view of RU-vid production, I think you are spot on with your balance. Please take in your experience fully and share it when you can. Regarding Sohvi’s sweaters, they are almost as Devine as she is. Take good care of them.
I thoroughly respect that you want to witness where you are with your two eyes instead of viewing it through a camera. You are in such an incredible place that deserves your full presence. It’s not Disneyland after all! One doesn’t undertake such an incredible journey into a remote and quietly beautiful place only to ruin that experience by making content for RU-vid. But I’m not complaining because I get to be there. For that I offer my sincere thanks.
We prefer the incredible quality of your videos (and the music), to quantity. That's why we like Sailing Yacht Florence, Erik Aanderaa, Magic Carpet etc. No one can expect to turn out 50 episodes a year and not become formulaic and tired and burned out. Not even professionals do that. Your videos are too good to turn into a boring weekly thing.
I have to tell you that I watch quite a few sailing channels, and yours is the only one I am a patreon of. I completely agree with your philosophy that anyone sending money to a channel, must rate the quality and content of the video, making it worth paying to watch. I supported Leo with Tally ho, but he now has enough viewers that I decided to rather give you my patronage. as I now live on a 32ft Aries in Knysna Lagoon South Africa, with a plan to sail up the east coast to Madagascar and beyond, having rented out our house, we like to get tips from people making videos about what it is like to live on a yacht. I am 72 and almost 2m tall, so it is a challenge with such a small boat, but that is all we can afford. So, consider yourself lucky that a poor man like me, with shit currency, rates your work highly enough to actually pay for it. I hope this comment of mine will give you some small boost ,that what you do is interesting and well produced. I look forward to your future adventures in the North West Passage. Cheers, Alex
hi Alex, great comment, to which I have to reply in wishing you safe travels. Did you stop over in Mocambique too? Would be interested to read more of your voyage!!!
