The 'Sailor Fude De Mannen' is a weird pen. But weird in a good way. Very versatile do almost anything kind of pen which has a bent nib at a 55 degree angle.
In your quest for pen videos I'd often thought " why doesn't he just get a Fude pen?!?!?" Now I'm glad to see that you've finally went and done it!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Bought one on a whim about two years ago. I should not like this cheap oddly green and long plastic pen so much but it's become one of my favorites. I immediately made a nice drawing of a dracaena plant. The broad strokes it makes are good for rough random texture effects. I have maybe 40 or 50 different fountain and drawing pens and brush pens and dip pens and this one of the few that is always inked. It's weirdly long but that's great for holding like a paint brush and doing fast hatching. You can reverse write with it for hatching and get a dependable super fine hairline. Also it's so long you can put a spare cartridge inside. I do like the cartridges and just refill them with Carbon or Noodlers Black, using a syringe. You can reseal a cartidge with a dollop of hot glue, which you pop off before using. Two cartridges is a very big amount of ink.
I also bought the same pen recently. I also have quite a nice impression about it. I don't have a converter now, I am gonna try to refill a converter with syringe, to me it's a simple and convenient way to inking with other fountain pens as well. I have about 5-6 fountain pens, in some moment I realised that converters are not always convenient to me and I stopped to buying them, also quite robust approach.
In my experience if you stop using the pen for a few weeks the ink becomes dry. I much prefer using fountain pen ink in it, 'cause the one included in the box is not that good imo.
How is the ink flow? Can you do wide strokes and hatching quickly? And I'm a bit put off by the squeaking, I thought the plastic would have been of higher quality.
I can do wide strokes some what quickly. If I go really quick is does break up a little bit. I don't know if the squeaking means anything at all really. I'm guessing it was doing that because the plastic was really clean. After handling it for a while the squeaking went away, probably due to a slight amount of oil from my skin.
