Saint Conan's Kirk the jewel of Loch Awe, Scotland is a church that sits just outside the village of Lochawe near Dalmally. Saint Conan's Kirk was voted one of top 10 buildings of the last 100 years in Scotland by the Royal Incorporation of Architects. It was designed by the architect Walter Douglas Campbell and built between 1881-6 but was then substantially extended from 1906 to 1914
The oak beams in the cloister are believed to have come from the then recently broken up wooden battleships, HMS Caledonia and HMS Duke of Wellington. Saint Conan's Kirk is built of local stone with the large, unsmoothed boulders of granite from the nearby mountain Ben Cruachan. The building itself is a blend of church styles from ancient Roman to Norman. The ornate windows were brought from the holy island of Iona and South Leith Parish Church.The Robert the Bruce chapel commemorates the Battle of the Pass of Brander that took place just a few miles away in around 1308.
After Walter's death in 1914 his sister Helen Douglas Campbell ensured that final work was in progress by 1927, the year of her death. St Conan's Kirk was consecrated in 1930.

I don’t like traveling. I don’t want to sit on a plane for 8 hours or sleep In a strange hotel or lie on a beach and get sunburned- but if I were to travel- I would go to Scotland and go to the castle in this video.
