We lived in Bremen for a few years and the Christmas Markets are ... just ... something else. Special. Unique. Our comment when we were at the Rockwood German Christmas Market was that we have been absolutely spoiled for Christmas Markets. We felt that the Market was missing more ambience. Music. Lights. More vendors with more unique food offerings. Feuerzangenbowle, Nutella Crepes, smoked salmon. We really are grateful that this was being offered, and hopefully it gets amped up next year! Also, I really agree that the entrance could have been a free will offering. Cash, foodbank donation, ...

I was thinking the same thing. By donation, a good majority would have tossed in $10 or $20 knowing it was going to charity. Or a foodbank donation would have been an excellent option.

We lived in Bremerhaven! Have been to Bremen many times - the hub for all travel for us :P

@@atribecalledowens We loved visiting Bremerhaven! We used to bring the kids up there on the train to walk along the waterfront and have ice cream. :)

Wonderful video. Did I notice you've made the transition to a super cool, must-have, mini van?

A new addition - yes! My parents upgraded so they lent us their old one. Could get very used to this - game changer with the kids lol :P

I planned on going, but just got to busy. Honestly, i didn't make a huge effort to go, though, because my mom went the first day and said it wasn't anything special, just a few vendors in cute little shacks. She didn't mention the entry fee, but that would have deterred me, too. My favourite market is the one at Harbour Station each Christmas. I've never traveled to others, though, so really nothing to compare it to

I don.t recall ever being to a Christmas Market, The Hamilton Farmers Market would be the closest to that, Nice big indoor Market attached to Jackson Square, in Hagersville where I purchased my first home we only had a summer market in the Market Square in spring untill fall. Germany the thing I remember most about it is that it was much cheaper to drink beer than have a soda especially a Coke. Peace...

I’m guessing the entrance fee is to shield the venders from the trend of people seeing things at a market, but then turning around and just ordering it online. Being there in person, moving the goods, their time there, all have value that online markets have cut into. I’m ok with a small fee since the experience of the market itself is entertainment and I don’t mind paying a little for that. And my favorite market was in Germany where I was stationed. Nurnberg was just 30-45 minutes down the Autobahn and it’s is one of the best Christmas markets in the world. Gluhwein is gross though IMHO

Hi, I am from Belgian-French and my boyfriend is French-Congolese. I saw Christmas markets in Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. When I visited the one from Montreal called big Christmas Market, it was cute but not big at all. 🥲 I nevewr paid for a Christmas Market either. ^^

Thanks for the Video of the market, I am the General Manager of the Saint John Horticultural Association. We are a not for profit benefiting the Public Gardens and The Rockwood Park campground, so every penny from this fundraiser goes to keeping these Saint John services going for everyone to enjoy. Our entrance fee helps to offset the steep cost of putting on such a market, built by hand by our staff and a host of volunteers. Our first time doing this, we strive to make it better every weekend and year over year, so your feedback is welcome. Our price also includes tax so its just over 6$ and kids six and under are free. Support for new events from people like you, can help small not for profits succeed in bringing new life to Saint John. Hope you were also able to see Santa at Santas Grotto, or or the Alpacas down the path, didn't look like you made it that far, that road is paved. Thanks for the video, appreciate the review.

Christmas market snobs 🤣 It looks cute, but sort of out of the way, I think the markets are great when you can tack it on to a full day out of shopping, like in standard stores or malls. You won't really be able to buy for everyone on your list at the Christmas market. Did they have events to take advantage of all the space, like reindeer games or anything?

We didn't notice anything but I think we were there on the first day so more might be set up now.

Went to Belding Farm Christmas Market...price was advertised to get in was $10, however when you got there they charge tax on top of that, so really it was 11.50. And paths were muddy, with just gravel dumped in front of each tiny stall. Was there for 20 min, doubt if I will go again.
@atribecalledowens
@atribecalledowens 8 месяцев назад
Oh wow. If the market is really outstanding I can justify the price - but if not 😟

It was meant to be a German Market. A vegan German is an oxymoron.
