Direct visual comparison of the recently released Saints Row: The Third Remastered and the original 2011 version of SR3 on the PC. #SaintsRow #Remastered #Comparison
This actually looks like a remaster that has passion behind it. Other remasters would make very little improvements and just update the textures slightly.
Yeah and if you listen closely the sound repeats after a few seconds. Meaning its a lot shorter of an audio clip unfortunately. Hope they fix it so it plays until you have to reload.
Bruh I'm pretty sure grove street is a mobile game studio with 21 employees that was assigned to 3 iconic games u should be more worried about rockstar.
This is what "remaster" should be. Texture, lighting, shadows improvement. WITH meshes improvements for characters and some extra stuff. Not just HD textures and that's it.
@@desmondawele30 No, it's not. They clearly went out of their way to redesign many of the models, textures and lighting that were crap in the original and made them better instead of just slapping a higher resolution texture on pre-existing models or increase the bloom on lights. For 40$ I think this is one of the better remasters that have come out recently.
Let's be real, this is what we mean when we say we want remaster, literally the original game with better graphics! Kept all the old bugs and sent me down a real nostalgia trip.
@@robinbanda1723 It's a glitch that enables you to customize non-customizable vehicles. The only drawback is that some parts on some vehicles cause the game to crash.
Nikola Tokovic True, i wish they changed the weapons sounds effect because it almost sounds same with a very small tweak, but either way the game looks amazing af!!!!!
feels like im back in 2011 again when i play it begged my mama to buy this game till she finally did brings alot of nostalgic moments mane fr ....playing the game till late night, waking up early to play it and sadly shes no longer here with me but this game gives me back fun moments tho💯
@@deaneyle3940 Maybe their pc is old. Or even an old laptop. I was using a low-mid range gaming laptop from about 2011 until this year, and towards the end it was so slow that it couldn't even run Portal 1 at 10fps.
I found something interesting, in the remastered when you go through one of those tunnels on the highway and if you call someone, you can hear your character echo in the tunnel.
honestly it was the best remaster i ever played! It came with all the DLCs and it’s only 40$. I remember being in middle school playing this too so it’s worth the nostalgia!
This is a really good comparison video, it's really frustrating when clips are showed back to back instead of side to side. Having both on screen at the same time just makes it a lot easier to tell the difference
@@shishaceo5204 To be fair, Mafia 2 is much older and received less of an overhaul compared to Saints Row The Third. Saints Row The Third is much newer and received a much larger overhaul. I think that is what he means. Mafia 2 does indeed look good, but it is older and you would have expected a much larger overhaul compared to Saints Row the Third which is much newer. Saints Row The Third has indeed received an much more impressive and surprising overhaul, especially considering its age, very unexpected that they went so far with its remaster actually. Unexpected and impressive indeed.
Daniel Youngblood it actually makes the game better because they have gone too far on the details and gives the game more life, so sometimes better graphics can make the game better.
Basically the remaster is how you think the game was when you remembered it. Then what it actually was. Both are great. Hope there are patches to fix bugs
@@mattybutler1985 when I was a kid and put in that cheat code, which is "whatitmeanstome" I always was confused what they mean by that because the words where connected together and I read it as what-it-mean-stome instead of what-it-means-to-me fir some reason.
This remaster is cool, although personally - underline personally - I prefered this cartoon like graphic - in my opinion it was more linked to gameplay, and didn't really got old
I saw a thumbnail a bit ago from someone else who made a comparison of this game, and I was like "no thanks, I'd rather wait for Nick" then here it is shortly after! Keep it up Nick, love your content!!
When I saw the remastered, I thought it looked the same and nothing improved. That is, until I saw how the old Saints Row 3 looked like and holy shite, it looks so different in the remastered and I love it. It is a huge improvement on most things
It is much better. To be honest the original SR3 in most parts looked worse than SR2 did. They really should remaster SR4 next. Most of the work is already done since SR4 was made with 70-80% of SR3 assets.
@@imrileth6618 it may have looked worse than 2 but the character models in the remake look much worse than 3 in its original state, they look realistic but not good realistic.
Thank you for making this video. It did convince me that I really shouldn't spend money on the remaster but I do appreciate the work your put into making this in-depth comparison.
I mean to say they look the same, or there is no difference, or the difference is minimal. The person would have to be blind, or lying, the majority of the game is a “night and day” difference. But having said that, I wouldn’t go broke buying the remaster, if I already have the original. The OG is still good enough to pretend the remaster doesn’t exist.
While I do love the new lighting and improved textures, I personally would have preferred if they kept the cartoony artstyle for all of the characters. I thought it gave a nice style to the game that differentiated it from the models in GTA and the like. Overall though, a pretty great remaster.
Yes, that was a big disappointment. A missed chance to make the game better in every possible way. Also, they could have added back the removed/cut content before release, as first intended.
Played this game solo twice when sr3 first came out, really enjoyed it. A friend and I bought the remaster recently to play coop and man its probably the most fun I had with a game in a while we're having a blast.
Can't believe Saints Row is actually doing a really good remaster for a 9 years old game and we still waiting for Half Life 3, Conker's Bad Fur Day 2, Black and White 3 maybe (impossible because Lionhead is no longer), etc, etc. You know what I mean. Funny how I used to think Saint Row was a copy straight out of GTA, now I think the opposite, gta online players understand.
@@takahashi111 I mean sure it 3 was good but 1 and 2 were good serious games but kinda got silly afterwards which ruined the competition between saints row and gta
Nick I'm following you for a long time and i really want to see the day where you will reach 1 million sub when i wake up. Your among those dudes who actually work with lot of passion stand alone. Hope you're doing good take care.
@@HS-jt2fl both games are very different tho.... Yes saints row is more fun and goofy... But gta has a better story line, characters (some) , and even missions (heists and stuff) both are great games.
Both franchise have their strong points. While GTA is leaning more on the immersive, realistic side, like a crime drama, with great serious plot, Saints Row leaning more toward fun and ridiculous over-the-top action and activities, with decent street gang story, light-hearted with sprinkle of serious, heated moments.
@@HS-jt2fl Yes but Saint row 2 is like 100 times better than the 3. Just look at all the fun cheat code in the 2, plus you can play with them in online coop. The 3 was such a downgrade compare to 2
I think they’ve said before that sr2 has really old code that’s difficult to work with, so they can’t remaster it easily like they could 3. Maybe they’ll do a remake though.
I think they do not have access to the original files. It would have to be built from the ground up. Who knows their next game might be a full on SR1/2 remake.
@@notthespaghetti1997 No SR2 was made by Volition, like every other Saints Row game. THQ was the publisher. When THQ went bankrupt, Deep Silver bought the Saints Row franchise and published Saints Row 4 under their name. Now the Saints Row franchise has been bought from Deep Silver by THQ Nordic, which is a publisher that largely consists out of THQ assets.
THIS is what the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition should have been! Rockstar and Grove Street Games needs to take notes. THIS is what a Definitive Edition is supposed to be, not that GTA Trilogy Defective The Sims, Roblox, Fortnite looking ass Edition!!
@Sahil Husain My bad, but what I meant to say is I dislike remaster idea when it only refine some texture to be HD and changing UI for a bit modern looks. I need something like RE series, as if RE wasn't a remake but a remaster with better graphical approach and everything else.
Actually probably trying to judge if they should remaster SR2, which they probably don't want to do & remind people that they jumped the shark with the series.
@@RtistiqSkubie Three wasn't that insane but two was better in many ways most notably the outfits you could do in 2 blows the shitty clothing system in 3/4 out of the water easy. If they did remaster or remake 2 with the same good old clothing system they'd print money I think.
Kinda awkward that there is no sound at all, but thanks for the comparison. I played it on PS3 when it came out, now I'm playing the remastered on PC, did not expect that the graphics are that much different before seeing this video.
1 million pffft. He deserves and will get at least 2 million. Once he gets that, we start working on the next 2 million. His "History of" gaming videos are second to none. And his "Direct Comparison" videos are so good they have even received an shout out by "Angry Joe". Nick puts out fantastic work, so I fully agree with you. He is working hard as heck and is delivering some fantastic content. I really do want to see his channel thrive as it should.
One thing that bugged the heck out of me: The endless shifting. Seemed like cars in saints row 3 have 20+ gears. I really hope they fixed that, if not, well shiiit. 😭 I'll still buy it though cause man, this game looks gorgeous.
Guys, every time you do such videos and notice some downgrades or bugs - please send your videos to developers and publishers and request a fix. Use twitter, forums, steam, emails, tech support, everything. And call us - viewers for support.
That's true, I feel like we need a bigger voice, such as from a popular channel and then the viewers can back them up. If it doesn't work there will be a lot of negativity, which does encourage fixing.
Hear me out here, the cartoony character models in the OG Saints Row 3 are timeless. The remaster will age quicker just because of that. It removes some distinction.
I really like the remaster and I wanted for some while to replay this game and the remaster was the perfect occasion to do so. The game is as fun as ever but better than before. The one thing I don't like with the game though is that the night is really too dark in my opinion, especially when you go out of downtown. Also, I feel like the day/night cycle is a bit off, I've got the impression that the game is almost never at day but I don't know if it's the case for everyone.
