Very few sings like this nowadays... Why? They think chestvoice hurts their voices, instead the desperately trying to ”place” their sounds in the mask. (Nasal and/or fake dark sounds that usually get wobbly) The singing of Saioa Hernandez is truly refreshing: Great chestparticipation in headvoice which give a true chiaroscuro sound all the way up. Add to this a massive ringing chestvoice that is sung correctly. (Netrebko, Yoncheva and even Pirozzi are examples of the opposite).
It is nice to hear nowadays. However, she is still finding herself. Her top notes still often fall shallow and quiver because she's off of her body. When she is really connected, it's a nice deep sound.
Dragan Vidic It’s nothing new! It’s the debate that has existed since Duprez sang the first C from chest! It’s a matter of preference for the singer and the listener. She’s very thrilling but not everyone is cut out for it BUT chest engagement is necessary for healthy singing.
Much better hear her, than others... What is it chest register? How tenors must sing? I heard, what tenors must use breathing to put sound from lower stomach.

This is very distinguished singing from a first-rate lirico-spinto soprano with well spun legato lines & icy chest tones for dramatic effect. The perfect voice for Gioconda, Verdi & Verismo. Saioa Hernandez reminds me of Callas, Gencer & Mancini, a dramatic style of singing one doesn't hear very much today as Dragan Vidic explains so beautifully why.
The best Gioconda on stage nowadays and one if the very few sopranos capable to singing properly this very demanding role. A voice very similar to the great Caballe. Bravissima Saioa.
Habe sie erst vor kurzem auf RU-vid entdeckt! Sie erinnert mich an einige der großen Soprane des vorigen Jahrhunderts! Bravo dieser Stimme! Jetzt fehlen nur noch adequate männliche Partner! Milanov, Callas und Tebaldi hatten immerhin del Monaco und Corelli!
What a wonderful soprano with such a fantastic technique and consummate style. I am so eager to hear her live once this terrible time is over, I wish Covent Garden would mount something special like La Gioconda but otherwise anything verismo or Verdi’s will do. In the meantime I shall cherish performances of hers on RU-vid, my comfort and balm in this terrible time.
No sólo está muy bien cantado, sino además Saioa se ve muy guapa con ese vestido azul y la capa, el que diseñó el vestuario ha sabido hacer justicia al físico de esta artista.
Es una gran soprano spinto o dramática y si, es verdad hay pocas, pero tbien se necesitan las más líricas y más ligeras.....y de estas últimas también las hay muy buenas....
