Just got to 4-1 and my head just went *BOOOSHH* Not cuz of execution, but I now get that from yuzu's stance you have so much control over when, how, and where she executes her slashes. There's so much potential even before you get into actual combos.
On 4.1 explanations: Holding all the way through versus not holding all the way to the last special. Not holding your button basically defaults it to D Hold, which lets you automatically chain your specials. This ALSO comes at a slightly Damage Scaling as well however. Holding your initial button is better in most cases (as you control when you leave stance. Manually holding D also allows you to not have to deal with scaling, but you only get up to 4 specials (Because you can't do A+D/B+D).
You can do x+D on D hold man =v it's a negative edge motion, basically x+]D[, and manual D hold applies the same strange scaling penalty, the scaling comes from the D hold itself, not manual vs automatic, it's just pretty small so you can kinda ignore it, but if you want to be 100% optimal the logic is D hold on neutral for extra buttons, and something other than D hold on combos for extra damage
4 years later, I am here to say that you can alternatively do the same BnB in the corner but replace 66C> j.236[A] > j6C > j214B with 66C> jB+C > j214B. Hope it helps 👍
Seeing Yuzu in a LiangHuBBB compilation video years ago was what got me interested in playing UNI before UNIEL even got a console port and to this day I still cannot play this character at a skill-appropriate level. :(
This is my second time trying to pick up the character, and I really struggled with it my first time around. It’s not even close to the hardest shit rn tho lol. It’ll get easier (if it hasn’t already)!
Dash b gets easier once you realize you have to hit B while you're still holding the direction, the mistake I made was I'd do 66 and then let go before hitting B so I'd just get 5B instead of 66B
this character is sick, but i might just stick to enkidu. I just found out that all my combos that i practiced whiff on vatista and Linne, so i have to learn a bunch of new combo paths for what i consider one of the easiest execution characters in the game. If i have to do that with merkava and yuzu... im not sure i have time to learn the situational hurtbox specific combos between each character.
Cool! I was hoping that you play Yuzu online some day to hear you analyzing matches. I just bought the game on Steam and tried Yuzu's missions day 1. Had to stop at the Veteran 4-6 combo too.
Games like Unist and other weeb fighters must be a nightmare to commentate, just to be able to even read what's happening on screen would require a pretty strong knowledge of all characters movesets at a bare minimum. Then you get mechanics like GRD/Vorpal chicked into an already fast paced game and keeping up with the play and making relevant commentary must be insanely difficult!
How long did it take to get these combos down on stream? I play Hazama in BB:CF and her combos look really fun, was curious if Sajam got them really quickly or if they look as hard as they appear.
So, you don't need to hold A on 4-1 combo, you can just ignore that part and press D during 214B You do need to hold buttons however if your combos involves delayed slashes

Personally I didn't have trouble with Yuzu's combos, mostly cause I play Naoto in BB so I'm used to insane buffers, but more than that the tutorial has really bad translations. You really don't have to do any of those holds as long as you press the buttons in sequence. The game will even accept "improper" methods like pressing 9+D OS after a 236A. Once I realized that Yuzu's combos became a cake walk. I think what makes her difficult is her neutral is tough, you gotta be perfect if you want to keep the heat off you.
It would be cool to see you try out Waldstein! (Partially because he is very different then the other characters you have played in unist so far, partly because I play him and I would love to see you doing cool stuff with him, cause I suck and can't do combos very well.)
Yup, PC version of game has colour modding including vergil and BBTag actually has a velvet room attendant colour which doubles as Vergil. Not sure if someone has done it yet but you can also replace all her sound files if you wanted
Vergil and Yuzuriha are both practice Iaijutsu, a style built around the quick draw of the sword. Johnny from Guilty Gear uses the same style, as does Jin from Blazblue.
Someone tell Sajam he doesn't need to hold buttons down unless it's for a charged up move or to hold down a stance for a delayed follow-up(e.g j236a(hold a) >delayed j236b>214b+d etc etc). Most of it is just tapping(the d cancel to reduce stance recovery), and what is most likely tripping up players, leading them to think Yuzu combos are a lot harder than they actually are.
But you gain damage for holding lol (but yea i managed to do every trial on pad without holding, the flow of her combos are really easy once you understand when you need to slide the inputs, and press them at the same time)
Holding buttons does give you more damage. btw does anyone know how it works for Yuzu in general? Like, when exactly does holding buttons boost damage?
@@koronator It affects strikes in battou stance. Sage Dragoon Didn't notice the damage difference before. Since I only play Yuzu to screw around(Chaos main). But still, it should be easier to learn her combos if you don't bother with the holding down-button-stuff first.
@@ItsJustTeddington Silly me. I figured out and it's simple. Holding any button except D increases the damage of battou moves. I was confused because holding C in 66C>236A works too but that's just the same as sliding from A to C.
I've been fighting so hard with this issue whereas the game tells me I input something like 23A6A instead of a clean 236A and nothing comes out at all. Like that's getting me more than the actual combos though I've already practiced inputing stuff clean a lot. Not sure why that happens but it's really the first time that has happened to me in any fighting game so far.
There's two things that I'm running into in this game compared to some others I've played. Not sure where your experience lies but mine is mostly MK, DBZF, and 3d fighters. I've had to slow my inputs way down, I spent probably 20 minutes just practicing the mid-combo base moves until I could do them consistently. This game is a lot more particular about the inputs than some of the others I mentioned. I would recommend to go slower than you think you need to and speed it up from there until you hit the sweet spot for the input.
@@ezpk- ik that's how I'm supposed to practice stuff but inputing stuff as fast as possible is already instinctive and I'm trying to get rid of it. I'm even clearing the vet section now but i wont be consistent unless i get rid of that mashing stuff too fast lol. I didnt play much dbfz but I was a hardcore Marvel 3 player back in the day so I guess my urge for pressing stuff is justified lol.
@@SH4D0WBattousai You can mash pretty effectively in DBZF, the auto combos aren't horrible for starting mix ups so I definitely feel you there man. That game is a lot more forgiving in general until you start getting into the higher levels of play where people actually know how to pick up with assists and stuff like that. Obviously to be as effective as possible it's still best not to mash, but bad habits die hard bro, lol. I'm also learning a fight stick at the same time so my directional inputs are sloppy as hell.
