Awsome rifle! The fixed stock TRG 22 is one of, if not, the very best “do it all” factory built rifles out there. Target, hunting, and tactical. Little known fact that TRG 22’s are very good off the shelf rifles for the ISSF 300m Standard rifle event. They come with a hand-stop rail in the forend and Sako makes 11mm dovetail sight bases so you can mount standard front and rear target diopter sights on them. The stock is shaped to conform to the standard rifle rule requirements. They are more than accurate enough to compete at the highest levels and have very good triggers.

Exactly! The tweaked up version of TRG-21 was the basis of our sniper and anti-sniper program "program" when M-76 did not have enough punch! during most of the Croatian Homeland War! Often competing with much deadlier enemy .50 BMG Crna Strela M93! When TRG-22 was launched the first time it was both time of frustration (like; Why didn't we have THIS out of the "box"! Along with: "We HAD this BACK IN 92.! Hehe!" (in magnum calibers) with heavily modified TRG-21 and brightest of domestic minds (with some parts from Steyr!)) I bought my own TRG-42 the same years after it first came out, after just enough time to save money for it...

The best thing to do at 500mtrs on that range is set up the piglet size steel targets or steel chickens make the target smaller to test yourself. Oh and if you shoot someone else's steel at 500mtrs apologise and go forward and reset them at the soonest possible moment 😂

I wish they would make this rifle in 300 prc. It keeps up with 338 lapua in all aspects in any factory 338 magazine fed rifle including the trg. Because 338 was designed originally for 250 grain bullets the magazines are never long enough for 300 gainers. And with 250 gainers both the 215 grain and 230 burgers in the prc out perform the 338 lapua using 250 grain burgers. Not by much but they do and literally half the recoil.

I have used & owned Sako TRGs , TRG-21 & TRG-41 w/42 brake & TRG-22 , in 308 & 338LM , and had the mag jam on the 308 version , not often , but still had the odd jam , thats the 308 mag that is double stack , single feed like a old sten gun mag , however with the 338LM seems smoother and more reliable than the 308 version. Nice triggers and both accurate rifles , at 1/2 the price of a AI they where a bargin back in the old days , these days not so much. BUT comparing the Sako TRGs and proper AI rifles , ( ie all except the AE models ) , the Sako appears more suited high end civie/LE , and the AI a all out Mil rifle , just another league , just look at who the endusers have been over the yrs , even Russia ? , even the Germans had to adopt IT as it won the trials , BUT Germany wanted to buy Mauser and keep in country , Opps . I love Sako's and have used them much longer than I have used AIs , so it pains me to say AI are better in everyway except weight the TRG series are quite light weight for what the are. The AI action is also unique in its design , uses a locking ring/insert that sandwiches between the bolt and barrel , and the action/receiver is just a block of steel with a hole thru it , nothing to wear out on a HOLE , nothing , the ring insert & the bolt head are replacable ( these are the wear items ) , as is the barrel ( another wear item ) , which means the rifle can always be brought back to be in spec and operational . I will say the Sako barrels will last longer due to being cold hammer forged , this usually results in a harder wearing barrel .
@fernandorondon4004
@fernandorondon4004 2 года назад
Problem with feeding the TRG in .308 magazines is simple. Since they load from the left side, the followers wear out on that side and cause feeding problems. I have a 21 on its third barrel and I always have new followers in my toolbox. I also have a 42 in .300WM because they feed straight. Love them both!
@ryaniam22
@ryaniam22 Год назад
@@fernandorondon4004 Hey. Is is possible to handload 215 or 230 grain bergers in the 300 win mag trg and still use the magazine or must it be single shot? Thanks. If not I really hope they start making this rifle in 300 prc because the recoil on lapuas is annoying lol

I was just going to ask if this was Heinola. I remember centerlining the left ram at 500 with my DPMS LR-308 spitting 155gr Scenars on our way up to Häyhä in 2007 if I recall. 500m is pretty boring unless you shoot smaller targets. 2 MOA targets are challenging at 500.

Currently only have steel out to 400m at my range but no problem with my Savage 110 hunting rifle (circa mid 90s from Walmart) with a 3-9 Nikon chambered in 270 Winchester. That Sako is rather nice though. I was just eyeing one up yesterday in fact. Only had it in .308 and I think 6.5 creedmoor? Can't remember. 300 PRC would be a fun chambering for that rifle.
@aqualung.
@aqualung. 2 года назад
Yeah, 500 m wasn't really anything. I'd previously only shot bulk FMJ in intermediate calibers and for those 500 m was already something. The TRG's shown to be a half MOA rifle with SMK factory loads, which is mind-boggling when you're used to 2 MOA bulk .223. The video was shot (very ad hoc btw) before I'd had a chance to shoot the rifle past 300 m. Since then I've completed two thirds of basic sniper training, which imparted a lot of confidence, and taken the Sako to 675 m which was still very easy. I'm looking forward to an opportunity to shoot out to 800-1000 m and see what happens with the transition to subsonic flight.

Is that some Varusteleka prototype anorak that you are wearing? Three pockets side by side at the front , middle one a bit larger then the ones on the side, is an arrangement that I have seen only in old photos (Gebirgsjäger Anorak M42), but that anorak has canada-buttons, velcro, and other stuff that tells that it is not a re-enacment repro but a new model (yeah, I'm a geardo with a predisposition for picking ideas for my own designs from the past; "tacticool steampunk" :D )
