My gastroparesis is getting worse. I started seeing a therapist last year just to vent! Having a chronic illness is not only physically exhausting but mentally it messes with you. Sometimes I think it’s all in my head, or maybe I can eat more food than I think. Btw all of these are wrong ! Lol but there is no shame in seeing a counselor, always take care of your mental health! I know it’s cliche but I’m a firm believer that if you have your mind right than you can handle anything. I love watching your vlogs and thanks for being so relatable. 😊

I’m so sorry your gastroparesis is getting worse. One of the toughest parts of this mentally for me is the uncertainty of how this illness will progress. I’m glad you have a therapist you can vent to! I actually did reach out to one in my area who takes my insurance. I’m seeing him for the first time this Friday. I have been feeling so down, even depressed, lately, so I really hope therapy helps. Also, I totally do the same thing to myself where I wonder if I’m just not “pushing” myself hard enough to eat. Of course I try it, get really sick, and realize that this is real and not in my head at all. I’m grateful you find my videos helpful. I am sad we both have to go through this, but your comments always help me feel less alone. I hope you have a good week 💜

By the way my Sibo method!!! Helped my stomach and being home made me more regular ish lol then I went through a b12 crash fought with a new dr who thought he’d do me the grand favor of taking away my b12 shots when I’m dependent on them. My primary to the rescue!!! Got my shot and helped do Much! Now I have a neck flare and mild vertigo with pre syncope episodes. Girl this life is just not easy but we will be ok!! I saw a therapist in the beginning and she was chronically I’ll as well and got me through the grieving process and that helped so much. You are handling much better than you think or feel. Trust me I’m looking 😂 not that I want you to be diagnosed with fibromyalgia but you are describing a lot of my symptoms. The Low dose naltrexone is what helps me with that. Overall inflammation and body pain. Love this video. Everything you feel is so so so so normal! Love that you are excited to put a fun meal together. Still only half way through this video

Thank you for sharing your updates :) I’m really glad to know your stomach is doing better! I’m glad you got your B12 shots back 😊 I hope your neck flare and vertigo clear up soon. I’m glad to know therapy helped you. I’ve been feeling so sad lately and struggling to find joy in the days. I reached out to a therapist. We have our first session this Friday. I hope he ends up being a good fit. I really appreciate all your encouragement and kind words about how I’m handling this. I feel like I’m not handling it well, and I’m very hard on myself. Your encouragement means so much 💜 I hope you have a good week.

I’m really excited for Friday. I found out my insurance will cover therapy 100% with no out of pocket. So if he’s a good fit for me, I’m going to try to go weekly for the rest of the year.

I have EDS and have problems every 10 years or so with frozen shoulder. I have pain in my knees and feet too. You may already know you don't have this but ai wanted to share ❤

Thanks for letting me know! I’m sorry you deal with knee and foot pain. It has made me sad for many years that I can’t run or walk without pain. I had to stop running (I used to run half marathons in high school) in college because it was just too painful. I haven’t looked into EDS, but someone in my family has it.

Hope your shoulder feels better! I thought it would be smart to do a squat with a weighed bar across my back...bad idea! Lol I think I pinched a nerve to my arm. Back to my "geriatric strolls".

I'm so sorry you are struggling with this i understand I also hate having to look at Instagram where there's food everywhere. I don't want to admit it but I think I have also developed food fears. I'm terrified to eat fruits and vegetables, When fiber It's one of the worst things you can eat with GP But I need some type of fiber because I can never poop my constipation is always so bad. My heart goes out you.

My heart goes out to you as well. I feel like we go through so many similar experiences with this, and it is so hard. I think its okay to admit that fear foods exist. I think its a normal response to being hurt by food, and especially certain foods, so often. Honestly, even though I made this salad, it was hard to get myself to eat it after filming the video. A lot of it went bad because I just couldn't face the pain I knew the vegetables would cause me after eating it a few times. I have been experimenting with facing my fear of fruits and vegetables in ways that are more gastroparesis friendly. I have found some flavors of baby food that I like. I find that most baby foods combine fruits and vegetables in small portions that are really finely ground. I tolerate those so much better than solid fruits and vegetables. I still eat solid food that makes me sick often because I get such intense emotional cravings for it, but its good to also have GP friendly versions of things to reach for instead. I'm sure you've heard the baby food thing before. I wish there was more to help those of us with GP eat more "normally." I really need to stop looking at food-Instagram. It just makes me dream about all the meals I can't have. Sending virtual hugs your way. This is so hard.

@linneanelsonvlogs Same.... my husband tries to rip my phone out of my hand when I'm looking at yummy recipes on the gram i know he means it with love..... Some of the baby foods I have found were good were split pee and butternut squash... I also find that chicken Broth is easy on my stomach. Even though it has barely any calories, my stomach doesn't seem to hate it...rice is a also very easy as well on me....I do drink certain fruit smoothies But I have to be careful with those. Because they can get stuck for a while and cause a flare... What scares me the most is not the vomiting Honestly I don't really have much vomiting never really vomited as a child. Often, I've had excruciating nausea tho But what terrifies me is my food just gets stuck and doesn't move anywhere. It can be 5 to 6 hours later and I could still feel the food sloshing in my stomach when I walk. Lay down, sit up and drive, and it's causes some of the worst nausea. But my stomach doesn't wanna throw it up... And when I do feel like throwing up, I try not to because that's the food. My body needs to be nourished with. My specialist has given me a diet and list to follow. It says to try to eat 5 small meals a day and it does help....but I think it can causes so much anxiety and fear around food. I just miss being able to eat like I used to.

A lot of the foods you’ve listed here such as broth, rice, baby food, and certain smoothies also work well for me. Even though vomiting is a big symptom for me, I can feel what you mean about my stomach wanting to hold onto as much nutrition as possible. I tend to throw up while being in so much pain from my stomach not emptying/being too full from small amounts of food, but my vomiting episodes are a bunch of little vomits. My stomach rarely completely empties because it wants to hold on to nutrients. So I end up in a similar situation where most of the food is stuck in there for hours and the vomiting isn’t getting that much out despite its frequency. I’m sorry you have to go through that feeling of food sloshing around and having severe nausea for long periods of time. I really dislike that feeling as well. It’s so awful and you never know when it will end. It feels like I just have to wait it out and power through even while feeling awful. I wish there was anything to help with food getting stuck like that 😞. I’m so sorry you have to go through all of that.

Intersting u mention u have ocd. I have ocd too and it i believe is what shuts down my colon. I will be taking high dose sertraline hopefully it will help both problems. I think there is a big link between ocd and chronic constipation, whereas ibs-d is a totally different condition

Yeah, Dr. K from @HealthyGamerGG has a video on dysautonomia/POTS/functional health issues (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oHoFqwF2OAU.html) being connected in some way to OCD/trauma/autism, other mental health issues, and connective tissue issues like Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. I know that when my mental health has declined (e.g. with the stress of adjusting to married life or getting a new job) that my symptoms have gotten worse and then better over time as I start to adjust.

Does anyone find that they are either hungry and craving food or feeling sick and suffering as soon as they do eat? So it's like pick your suffering?

This is completely my life! I get cravings and I think about food and how much I want it (perhaps especially foods that make me feel ill), eventually I give into the cravings and make myself so ill just eating a normal portion. Just did this tonight tbh. It’s hard because I love food and I can’t stand knowing I’m not eating enough. I hope it helps to know you are definitely not alone with this endless cycle.
