I am a Christian but am also a lover of Cinema and am often quite disappointed with the quality of faith based media in cinematography as well as writing. If its going to be true to the times and not hold back on the viceregal nature that was the crusades I might be willing to give it a try.

It was a certainly a different time lol. People seemed to grow up faster in the past, or at least were expected to grow up faster. I can't picture many 16 year olds that I've known leading an army in battle or being a king. But also remember that many of these kings and leaders were raised to become leaders and military men, so their upbringing would be much different than the average person. Still doesn't change the fact that he beat Saladin's army at 16 years old with such a small force though all while being afflicted with leprosy. That is amazing and extremely respectable in any case. I reckon that most 16 year olds (or even much older people) in his time wouldn't be up to the challenges that he rose to.

But he did capture Jerusalem eventually. One of the great warriors of Islam.

About the mamluks , i believe they were the toughest knight order in the medieval era ... they were so strong and skilled , fearless , and unbelievably organized ... This was due to the strict military education they received when they were young ... it was something like the Spartan system...

@@giantgrowth4204 if you outnumber your enemy and flee it isn't some "live today to fight tomorrow" tactical mastery just straight cowardice. Although who would blame them, heavy western cavalry charges were terrifying, leaving puddles of people behind them.

In reality by all accounts he wore no such thing, and made no attempts to hide his appearance, also the practical aspects of the conditions he was in, make it much more likely that if by chance he happened to, it certainly wouldn't be during a battle.

@@indraadha987 Typically leprosy in advanced stages could cause lesions to the face, there aren't many accounts of what he looked like, though I imagine during the period in the movie his face would not necessarily be, as you put it "Destroyed." He did have an accompaniment of two men to hold his armaments before battle as he was still relatively left frail throughout his life due to leprosy. Look into the history though, he was still relatively accurately portrayed in his actions, I mean he was quite the badass, even by accounts of those who witnessed him.

@@sumanahamed9891 Saladin beat him at the battle of Marj Ayyun but the Baldwin beat Saladin again at Belvoir castle after that. Baldwin then died of Leprosy. Who knows what would have happened if he hadn't had leprosy and hadn't died at such an early age? Baldwin was dead by the time the Battle of Hattin happened.
