I believe it was Richard Kobritz that used the NOSFERATU Barlow because he was tired of seeing the evening-clad Dracula-esque style of vampire depicted in King's novel. He wanted to go behind the facade to project the horrible, malignant, pulsating evil that was the vampire's soul, a humanoid parasite. They couldn't have a better actor than the horribly burn-disfigured Reggie Nalder to fill the role of Kurt Barlow.

I remember watching this when it first came out . For tv show it was pretty terrifying . I remember the scene at the jail when the vampire unlocked the cell door and popped up on screen , both me and my mom jumped out of our seats . The creepiest part was definitely the Glick boy scratching at the window trying to get to his brother . That’s one of the best horror scenes ever !

Never have I been so terrified, watching that kid at the window in the fog. I don't think I slept for weeks afterward.

I remember seeing Salem’s Lot in a Clamshell to rent at a Video Store I used to rent at decades ago. I was born in 1972 and I have “soft spot” for 80’s horror movies that I would have to sneak and watch from my parents in the early to mid 80’s. I always will remember as a kid when Video Stores were in their infancy and holding the Original Boxes to the Friday the 13th,Halloween,Nightmare on Elm Street & many Stephen King movies. Y’all are awesome bloggers because I can tell y’all are genuine fans and are so excited to be their with your filming locations are at!

My favorite Salem's Lot item is the Collector's Edition of the novel including a section with deleted scenes. This was back when King actually had to EDIT himself, and he cut a really good sequence with the vampire hunters killing the trailer park couple and their baby.

Animals really aren't THAT good of a judge of character. Adolph Hitler had a dog that loved him. I've found that more human monsters dislike animals than the other way around.
