This was a very thought-provoking interview! Sally shares her opinion on a long-term carnivore diet and why it may not be the best option for everyone! If you are on a diet void of all plant foods, this interview is a MUST WATCH!

It's funny how everyone knows that if you're lost in the woods, do not eat any plants because you don't if they might be poisonous. However, if you can get your hands on some meat or fish, you know it will be safe to eat.

Sorry to hear. You just got the diet wrong: Low carb, high protein. You where accidentally high oxalate.. we do best on meat only. Like you much trials and errors. Gabriel lyon, helped us understand the min protein needed to stop muscle loss. More then too many diets have. For me 130g of protein a day. Meat is only 30% protein. Good luck to all.

Yes I agree you definitely got the diet wrong if you are on true clean keto you would not even be eating nuts and if you were it would be no more than 10 nuts a day and raw nut no oils. If you are doing a true clean keto diet you would most likely be eating 90% carnivore. But I am glad to see everyone doing so well on there health journey!! Too bad the doctors don't tell any of this to there patients! I guess they don't want to run out of patients! Lol 😆 😆

Started in March '22 adding meat and then full carnivore by December (with occasional raw honey and homemade raw milk yogurt) - finally getting better. It has been such a hard road to achieve wellness but I think I am on the right road now. I appreciate your time!

I personally eat a "ketovore" diet for 3 years: mostly animal based, with small amounts of non-starchy vegetables and occasional berries. I achieved remission of a previously 6 year diagnosis of uncontrolled type 2 diabetes (A1c ~8 on 3 medications + insulin --> A1c 4.9 on metformin alone) and resolved several related conditions (early nephropathy, significant retinopathy, hypertension [now on no meds], partially the neuropathy) and also unrelated (GERD, shoulder pain, mood swings, etc.). Sure, I have TGs ~60s, HDL ~60s, VLDL/remnant ~10-12. But my LDL is stabilized in the 130s which I am told by my doctor, undoes any possible benefits. So -- recently there is an increase in "pushback from real doctors" on social media and in other circles. They state that there is overwhelming evidence that a carnivore, or even low carb diet, even slightly lower carb than 55% calories from carb, increases all-cause mortality... 😲 And that a complete consensus of scientists is that low carb diets are dangerous - high risk of stroke/heart attacks, high risk of diabetes (???), renal disease, etc. These voices are joined by highly credentialed cardiologists, lipidologists and endocrinologists. This is only growing. What do I do with information? Since their point is that any short term improvements are overshadowed by long term consequences, how do I evaluate my own response and current health in this context?

no reason to put honey in your body. it is sugar. sugar is toxic to humans. NOT good.
@lindabirmingham603
@lindabirmingham603 Год назад
@@dunuth I would find a doctor that understands metabolic medicine, otherwise your current one will sabotage your progress. LDL has many different fractions (LDL1-LDL7) but generally is divided into 2 different particle size categories: Pattern A (large, fluffy) and Pattern B ( small dense). Pattern A is doing an important job of carrying cholesterol and hormones to cells and Pattern B is finished with the job and is supposed to go to the liver to be recycled. If the Pattern B is coated with sticky sugars the liver won't let it in and it accumulates in the bloodstream. Scavenger cells ( macrophages) in the tissues reach through the blood vessel walls and take them out of the circulation. In doing so, the inner lining of the blood vessel is damaged: this is how atherosclerosis starts. Unless you get a proper lipid panel usingMR methodology, you don't know how many of each type you have. Sadly, your LDL is probably fine and your doctor has no clue. The pharmaceutical industry uses "real doctors" as shills for their agenda. Hang in there!

Scary that the health recommendations now say that Lucky Charms is healthy. More so than a steak or eggs. I think maybe the leaders know exactly what they’re doing and are not clueless. Perhaps that’s the same group that started the vegan movement which plays on the empathy of people and their love for animals. Perhaps they really do want to keep everybody in a distended state of ill health. Not too sick to work for 60 years but definitely to have your body give out before you can take Social Security and who profits from all of this, maybe big Pharma, etc. I’m sure that’s just a conspiracy theory though.

I totally agree. Add to that that Bill Gates promotes all of these 'plant based foods' and wants to eliminate animals for us to eat on the premise of a better carbon footprint. Plant based foods are getting more and more shelf space and are filled with crap ingredients and chemicals. To me, it's all about depopulating the world as Bill has stated he wants to do. Bottom line: Many of these plant based foods are filled with high amounts of oxalates...process that for a while.

Then, I got stones in my salivary glands which concerned me alot as I have 1 kidney and didn't want stones there. My dentist who identified it asked if I was vegetarian and suggested I cut out my intake of kale, spinach, etc. I developed psoriasis, also alot of pain I have always attributed to Lyme. But, I am still eating some high oxylate foods though not the highest one. I think it's built up. My husband actually pulled a crystal out of the roof of my mouth. It was very painful. Sally saved my life. When I went carnivore, oxalate dumping hit me like a ton of bricks. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fainting, I lost 10 kg in two weeks. It was horrific! Adding some oxalate food back really helped! I had no clue when I went carnivore..oxalates..what? And how to slow down the dumping..Sally can be relied upon! I probably would have died had I not come across her. Dr. Chaffee says Plants are trying to kill you..yea..they almost succeeded in my case

Me either, I went carnivore just to try it. I did have some issues but had no idea about oxalates. I drink black tea; and I did not give that up so I think it saved me from a horrible reaction. Plus I was drinking a ton of raw milk. I am sure those 2 things were my saving grace. Personally I do not think plants(some plants) as medicine (I micro-dose for internal use; and use homeopathy). I have been an herbalist and into natural healing for over 30 years so I know they are absolutely incredible medicine, but I no longer see plants as food. The dose makes the poison. Maybe a garnish for some; but for others they are better off without them for sure.

@@lr1732 Not seeing plants as food is ridiculous though These basic whole plants from fruits to vegetables etc are not only nutritive, but they provide many beneficial phyto-chemicals such as polyphenols etc, which have numerous health benefits. Missing out on these health benefits because of irrational out of proportional fear over "dietary oxalate" or "anti-nutrients" etc just saddens me the level of vegan-esque type demonization of these foods The vegans no longer see meat/animal foods as food because of some "toxin" they don't understand. @@TheNaturalHealthBlogger Maybe for you. My lovely vegan diet almost killed me. Glad eating plant food works for you. You must have excellent detoxification abilities. @@lr1732 Vegan diets are a joke, they are highly prone to nutritional inadequacy and I am not a proponent. This does not mean that all healthy whole plant foods are suddenly bad or that we need to irrationally never eat any healthy plants ever again and just box ourselves into unhealthy dangerous extreme all meat/animal food carnivore fad diet nonsense. If eating some plant food causes symptoms then you need to actually accurately decipher why that is, not having these types hysterically incorrectly claim its "oxalate poisoning" or some other nonsense carnivore pseudo-science. Starting with what your symptoms are and the specific trigger foods.

I thought about going carnivore because I've heard so much about it helping with pain and inflammation. My problem I think was , that I wasn't eating any meats that were good for me. I was eating processed meats because of all the hype from the news and things people telling me what not to eat. So, I decided to start eating Real Steaks, Fish, Pork chops, Chicken and more Steaks :) ... I gave up all ice cream, cakes, candy and so on. No sugar for me. Then decided to lower my carbohydrate diet to smaller amounts, because I was eating a lot of pizza and junk like that. My back pain went away, I am more alert with little to no brain fog now, And my muscles are starting to repair themselves from all the stupid non-meat eating I've been doing for the past couple years. Some doctors that we go to need their license pulled for trying to tell people to stay away from meat. I've been taking care of myself now. No need for a doctor. Only if I absolutely need a doctor will I go to one.

All of a sudden without warning, my bladder was literally quivering and I was struck with worry. My bladder burned like no other. My brother has celiac disease, so I thought I was having food sensitivities. I was also eating a lot of chicken breast. I sought help from doctors and they wanted to treat me with antibiotics. I had CT scans, X-rays, ultrasounds, etc. I was so worried about my health, I struggled to even eat. My integrative doc had me go paleo to get off sugar and grains. The substitute? Almond flour and almond butter, nuts, etc. I continued to spiral, my thyroid tanked. I was at a healthy weight and have since gained 50 pounds. After hearing this, I can’t help but wonder if I was simply suffering from oxalates those many years ago. I have been suffering ever since. Have had countless labs done over the years. I've been watching doctors and other people here on RU-vid that have been carnivore or doing the Lion diet for 5 to 20yrs. They are immensely healthy and some do a fast here and there and drink like Element or Keto Mineral drops. My big disagreement here is to do a fast and then dump a bunch of fructose, sucrose garbage into your system when your body is going to react horribly to that. Also it's a very dangerous move for a carb addicted person like me, it would trigger a sugar craving again, give me diarrhea and stomach pain and bloating for a week. My Rosacea would flare and it would be hell. I fast with water, salts, minerals if needed on a longer fast but usually I don't fast more then 24hrs.

Like the author said, the plant foods people consume did not exist in the form they do now. They are frankenfoods. With the exception of tropical regions, most edible plants are seasonal and if humans did not eat animal meats, we would not have populated almost all the regions of the planet, let alone survived as a species. Sally is awesome, love her P.O.V. and she makes some very good points concerning 'eating for the season'. I have a question for any carnivore diet person here. I hear people starting out on it eating only beef, as you know the word 'carnivore' is derived from Latin meaning 'meat eater' hence meat in Italian and Spanish, Latin based languages, is carne. So, if carne is meat, why not eat a variety....beef, lamb, pork, chicken, fish, turkey and other fowls also? Man I would hate to share a bathroom with her...hahahahahaha! I mean vegetarians don't eat only carrots, do they?

I bought Sally's book and it gets here Monday I can't wait!! I so appreciate her knowledge and the very common sense approach that she has. it's not about cutting it all out it's about understanding how to work with the process and knowing how to listen to our bodies. my plan is to start to eat less of the high oxalate vegetables etc and switch over to the foods that are low in oxalates. this way I can to be gentle with my body because our body doesn't like it when we actually stop putting the oxalates in there... so disappointing to find out that the things we thought were good for us are not good for us!! it's like we're back at block one in our goal for good health 😔 thank you so much for such a great interview ❤️ 🇨🇦

@@TehLiquid Fruit and honey do not cause cancer. infact they have numerous anti-cancer mechanisms. This is the ridiculous part, you carnivore types irrationally fear these perfectly healthy foods, packed with polyphenols and other nutrients/phyto-chemicals with various anti-tumor activity, anti-viral properties etc when 30% of human cancers are viral induced and so on. Yet are happy to promote extreme all meat/animal food/excessively high saturated fat/zero fiber/no healthy whole plant nonsense, which is likely extremely taxing on the kidneys. High protein diets have been shown to potentially be an issue for kidney health, carnivore takes the piss that one step further.
