A great day on the Tay. Do you flatten the barbs on your spinners? Have you tried a single hook on the Flying "c"? I'm interested to know as I'm moving to singles next year to help swift release off the spinner when I have to use them.
Hi thanks for watching, no I don't flatten them. I've not used single hooks yet perhaps just out of habit. With them sometimes being so hard to get hols of I don't fancy giving them a chance to fall off.
Hi got a day booked at meikleur on 30 th sept thinking about trying floating Devon for first time any recommendations on size and colours. Great videos by the way
Hi Peter, thanks for watching. I would only fish a small 1inch-2inch Ruby red on the Tay just now, that's my preference. Good luck, you'll be in with a great chance, a lot of fish in the Tay system atm.
Im looking to fish the river tay september time but never fished it before what area do you recommend fishing and wheres best plave to get a ticket ? Thanks
Hi, thanks for watching. I would stick to Middle or Lower Tay, from Dunkeld down to Perth. It will be quite expensive in September as that's generally the best month normally. I would say look at your budget then decide where to go. Walkmill, Ballathie, Murthly 1 and 2 are all good beats. Luncarty is very reasonably priced but probably lends itself to a bit of spinning as well as fly depending on height. Fishpal is the best place to get a ticket as most of the beats advertise there.
Cracking fish. How is it you fish the toby. Just cast across river then start retrieve different speeds start and stop or just let the river carry it around and keep up the slack ?
Thanks for watching. I cast square across and then keep the rod close to the water creating a belly in the line and I always just retrieve fast enough that you can feel it wiggling. I sometimes cast slightly upstream in deeper pools and slightly down stream in shallower pools to fish it deeper or shallower.
@@scottishoutdoorlife thanks for the tip. Had 1 about 6lb and lost 1 a little bigger a few weeks ago on flying c @ upper farleyer on flying c. But still not got on a toby, I’ll try that next time am there thanks 😎
