Congratulations Iain what a spanner of a fish. Quite a few rivers up this way seem to be picking up, long may it continue. Thanks for another excellent vidio
What a stunning fish, well done! Great to see it released safely on its way! I always find it interesting that there invariably seems to be a correlation between overhead cables and lying fish! Thanks for sharing.
@@scottishoutdoorlife Some of the opportunities that we had don't seem to be around anymore. Such as you helping on the river or me shooting crows for the farmer which led to me being allowed to flight ducks on his ground. We don't seem to see or hear much of things like that now as everything has a price.
What a Lunker!! 😅😅👏👏but your spinning reel is in it's death throes, or it needs a lot of TLC. I've had Bass and Redfin take lures as long as themselves! 😳
Hi thanks for watching, it was a cracker. I bought my son a new one and I'm using it just now, I'm taking my time buying myself one. Doing some research.
Beautiful fish , great videos you show. I still think of catching Salmon as a food source , because i like eating Salmon . Ive stopped fishing for them because i cant keep a few for the table., that one you just released would of made great eating, all the best
Thanks Ian. I must admit the more time passes the less I'm thinking of them as food. I feel a bit sorry for them now as the numbers are so low. You are right it would have been a great one for smoking. I did think that when I landed it but hopefully the eggs she's carrying will help just a little. Thanks for watching 👍
As a 70 yr old I like your style, have fished all my days going back to guddling wee burns as a six year old. Just wonder if kids ever follow a similar path these days.
Hi thanks for watching, I think some do. I'm covering one of they Tay beats this week and managed to get a 10 year old her first salmon. I'd say she'll do a bit more now. My son was keen but he can take it or leave it now. 👍
Lovely fish but since so rare I personally think knackering them and putting them back is dead wrong. I have put my salmon rods away for good, for me it’s only trout now.
Thanks for watching. I respect your decision. I personally don't think many end up dead, or we would see them in the rivers, especially on the smaller ones.
@@scottishoutdoorlife one of the Ghillies on the Tay told me that since they introduced catch and release they have had a high number of baggots, but that can be countered by playing a fish hard and putting it back after it expends all its energy.
I would disagree with that. When fish were plentiful there was always lots of baggots long before catch and release. I think they recovered quickly, sometimes fish are caught twice or three times over a period of time and fight the same each time. If they didn't have any energy left they wouldn't fight at all. Everyone has theories but the truth is we just don't know so much about them.
Thanks Stuart one or two now on the books, double figures I think. Roan has a new one I've been using just now, it's a dream compared to the old one. Having a think which one I'll get.
Love to watch your videos over breakfast mate 👍 I live in Luncarty and would appreciate if you could tell me who to get in contact with regarding Permission on permits. For the stretch now Luncarty. Thanks
Hi thanks for watching. The stretch just above and below the pipe is on Fishpal as Luncarty beat. The ghillie is Bob White. Fishes well from this bank 3ft or higher on the Ballathie sepa gauge. Fishes well in low water from the stormontfield side below the willow tree especially. Hope this helps 👍
Where was your net??? Nowadays we must be very gentle with these Salmon, not to stress them or put them onto the rocks, pebbles, as they damage them! So please bro no more of this. and more of landing them with a net, please!😢
Thanks for watching. I carry a net where it's awkward to land them. I don't carry one normally as much of my wading is in deep and fast flowing water and cause me to go off balance if the current catches it. I always keep them in the water and am careful with them, sometimes if they touch rocks then for a few seconds then I don't think in the grand scheme of things it's so bad. 👍
