Loved all your finishes! I pulled an all nighter looking at my wips and floss tube and Etsy and just as you started talking about Live on Little , I was pulling it out and mine is kitted but I’m deciding on my fabric. I hope you get it finished! At 69 and stitching alone, I enjoy laughing and smiling as I watch your videos. My two quilty/ stitchy friends are sadly both gone and I miss the camaraderie. Thanks so much for the discovery and explanation of why my blue DMC varies. I’d never had caught that and the 931,932 etc. I use a lot. Love all your pillows! They look great. As for change in DMC colours, as I understand it, it’s rather more complicated than just different dye lots. DMC have always prided themselves on consistency. I heard a year or so ago that environmental rules in the EU had changed, and meant that the chemicals used in the dyeing process, and the chemicals used for fixing the dyes, had to change in order to meet new standards. I thought it was mainly going to affect reds, but obviously the other colours look like they’ve changed a bit, too. (All the 926 I have is like your “old” colour). And yes, here in New Zealand we are in the depths of winter, and traditional Christmas stitching makes perfect sense!

I'm so glad you're pulling out some WIPs to work on. It's so satisfying. Your work is oh so beautiful. Oh and congrats on the many FFOs. What a shame that that big beautiful tree was taken down by the tornado. It must have been quite old. You know my mom told great stories and before telling one she always asked me if she'd tole me before. I always answered that I was sure she had but to tell it again because my memory is so bad and that was the truth. I just love rehearing the old stories and my one regret is that I didn't record some for me and my children. Love you too Carol. Stay cool if possible. It's been super hot here in Québec but we're getting a storm which seems to be cooling things down.

Oh my gosh love that shirt, Carol, all your Patriotic finishing is lovely. I have a collection of watering cans that I plant flowers in each year, love that sewing bag, I love Maggie Bonami designs, lovely progress on your stitching, oh my Baily is adorable, Mr. Salt Box, you are also adorable. I have bought new DMC to use with my old DMC, I have had nor problem with different color threads, I keep all my threads in a DMC box out of the light in the sewing room. Carol: You have so many lovely designs in the works, we have had many storms and another today. It is very hot here, I am a hot weather girl, here in Minnesota it gets cold, very cold, so sorry about the power outages. We also have a generator, so worth the money.

I agree with you on the DMC dye lots. We all consider them “stable”, but those of us with vintage stash can see a change. I try to gauge how much I will need for a project. If my older stuff is enough, I use that to try and get rid of it.

Carol…OH my word… that DMC issue happened to me…I pulled out thread from an older number and stitched part of a dress and it was a large part… I couldn’t believe it.. I ended up tea dyeing the old thread so I didn’t have to take it all out. I had no idea this was a problem. Loved all your finishes.

Thanks for the tip on the DMC that I have kitted for LIVE ON LITTLE. I must check.

Thank you for taking the time to explain the color change in DMC. I was having some of the same problems. Also, some of mine have faded in spots where light has got to the outside. Love your floss tubes.

Interesting info for "Live On Little". I have stitched it and really thought the waves lacked a lot of contrast, but I rolled with it because I was a newer stitcher when I started it. In the end I am very happy with it and did enjoy working on it. But, I have no idea how someone could stitch it in 3 weeks. I hope you can get your needle blazing. It's a beautiful pattern! Love all you shared. Thank you.

Deal with it people! Your patriotic finishes are beautiful. I love the choices of charts you choose to stitch. I love your style. Some of your future stitching is very labor intensive. I have been doing smalls lately. BTW, my husband subscribed to the new channel to be coming soon being presented by your hubby. Am also working on some patriotic smalls that can stay out technically until after Labor Day. Great minds! We are on the same page! I finished 'Live on Little' last Fall and had some issues with the colors as you discussed. Now I see what some of the problem is. Thanks for that and heads up...my issue was more around the white that did not show up on my linen at all. The yellows in the sun were also problematic. Overall, though, it is a beautiful piece! Just need to find the right frame. Happy stitching and stay cool, my friend!
