@@advancedboilertraining Done all that wired up as per video, I've removed the link left the old timer on do I leave it on perm or timer program . both light are working , I've tried testing by putting the temp setting above the room temp but still won't fire up unless I put the old mechanical on . seems to defeat the idea if having a wireless thermostat . any comments .

@@bobwilson4195 Just leave the timer on the boiler constantly on. Then control the heating from the thermostat

@@leemclaughlin3927 It’s a safety precaution. With an earth connected the flex cable is protected and could cause the rcd to trip if there was a fault. Without the earth connected than a potential live fault (a nail into the live or the cable sheath gets damaged by the metal boiler casing for instance) wouldn’t operate the rcd, thus leaving an unsafe install. It’s unlikely in this scenario where the flex is so short but it’s not only good practice, it is a requirement of the BS7671 wiring regulations.

@@Videowatcher85 it was only cut back at the stat but still inside the rest of thr flex - so a nail through the flex would still have same protection surely
