Interesting design, decently built, better than most of the modern junk I've kept going by combining multiple parts units. Neat to see a different design!
Most of the fires from space heaters come from people leaving them on unattended with too much crap too close all around it. If you read the manuals they want you to have like at least 4 feet of space all around them.
i had a neighbor like that she was in late 80s and lived across the street from me she had our spare house key for decades (got us in more than a few times ) i miss her
actually i might connect it to the ducting in the basement to help circulate basement air in the house, but eventually i might add it to the forge thing. ^^
I have a heater like this in my bedroom it has like 4-5 elements i think 1 is burnt out because its not as hot as it used to be. I think that small was from the elements or the copper being heated. you should use those elements to make a forge. you could use that long 240v extension cord and run all the elements in series. or you could use those elements to preheat a stone forge so it wouldn't crack then use your ark welder as a ark furnace. Idk just brainstorming.
Interesting tear down. Surprising that the filaments were springs instead of quartz. There's lots of sheet metal left over too that could be made into other things.
Rinoa Super-Genius for a cheap unit maybe. I still have a similar quality unit that with the right maintenance has lasted over 30 years and is still safer that most of todays cheap Chinese rubbish. I guess I just hate seeing precious resources wasted too. It's is why I said I hope you find good use for the parts. All the best :)
That was one of the best space heater around. You sure have kept it. Unless something was seriously wrong with it, don’t get why you would destroy a expensive well built space heater?
Rinoa Super-Genius That a shame I guess not as good as their bigger one. Burning plastic smell never a good sign. I had to scrap a heater recently due to melted cord and burning ceramic elements that have off a nasty strange oder. Thank god birds wasn’t in that room when it happened.
That was a reparable heater. Too bad, those Eden Pure's were well made and cost over $300 new. Most likely the blower motor is going bad. It slows down and the glass tube elements get a little hot. The hot metal and plastic will then smell because of the lower airflow ..
I found a heater in the garbage just last week that has the same blower. Problem was the blower stopped working because the lube dried up. Re-lubed with bacon grease and good as new!
