@@lancerevell5979 There’s a video from long ago where the guy patched up half the fuselage on a Plane with Duct-tape…. and flew back home. it’s a looker.
FINALLY! I can just grab my drill, some screws, some baking soda, a syringe, a D battery, and some gorilla glue to make a lighter that barely lights, and could potentially explode, instead of wasting 2 bucks on a new one!
The part that cracks me up is where he spends all that time to mod that sketchy lighter and then on the next object he uses a completely different lighter 🤣
Although that lighter was pretty cool. It would prolly cost me more to build that sucka then to just go buy a new one. But good trick if im out in the boondocks.
Yep. I feel like comparing my handyman technique and videoing it, which would be a video of me driving to Dollar General 5 minutes away and buying a lighter. Problem solved.
How about the start a fire with a pencil and a USB cord trick? Or the I should probably just go buy another lighter since I used glue that costs more than a new lighter trick?
I also noticed something, it’d make far more sense for your “handyman”, or contractor, to want you to know these. So they can charge you thousands of dollars to repair the explosion you created in your home.
When I saw my handyman hook my refrigerator up to a pencil, at first I was skeptical, but then he referred me to this video and I've been assured that he's a professional after all.
You misunderstand, the pencil isn't being used to transfer charge. The graphite is a good resistor, so they're using it to generate heat to use a soldering iron. Actually a pretty cool trick for if you're lacking the actual tool.
I'm an electrician of 27 year if you twist wire long enough calluses will build up enough you can twist # 12 solid wore with your bare hands just as nice and neat.
That's a great way to fry your usb adapter, Shorting the leads to make that soldering iron tip heat up requires a ton of current. Even on the lower power end, a soldering iron would require 20W to be dissipated. From a 5 volt usb supply that would mean 4 amps of current is required, when most usb adapters are rated between 1 and 3 amps. This is disregarding power losses throughout the length of the tip and contact resistances at the terminals.
I watched my grandfather in Pennsylvania cut tops off glass gallon jugs this way using kerosene & string. When the fire burned out, he tapped lightly around the string line with a small hammer. The top usually broke off clean. He put the body of the jug upside down over his rose bushes to protect them through the winter. I loved that ol’ guy!
I'm going to try it one day but I can't even cut flat cheap window glass with a 25 dollar glass cutter so I doubt if I can do it but it won't stop me from trying
A far simpler and easier way to twist wires is if you have a keyless chucked drill, put both, or as many as you need, into the Chuck, tighten it down, and spin! I used that all the time doing car stereo installs. No need to drill out a piece of wood. And if you’re able to drill out the wood, then you’ve clearly already got the drill. Try it!
Or a small Shepard's hook of like t-grid wire, chucked up in the chuck. You don't have to chuck and unchuck. You just spin, pull off, move to next set.
As someone who has seen a lighter explode when chucked at the ground, that seems like an awfully dangerous project to do when you could just buy a refillable lighter.
.05 mm of flint on that lighter it will stop sparking before it runs out of butane and the screws cost more than the lighter I didnt watch just commenting on the thumbnail lol
I was at home trying to watch this video when suddenly some handyman's kicked down my door and slammed my laptop shut. They told me they don't want me to know the forbidden secrets of the sacred order of the handyman's. I would like to watch this video but they threatened to come back and shut my laptop again. I'm afraid of the handyman's.
I was just going to make this comment when I came across yours. This video just seems like somebody curious and testing different things out. I wonder if he can show me how to repair a truss easily.
People don't need handymen any longer. The Electrical Engineer can do anything on the three-day weekend. Let's see: make $100k to $400k for the Man; make $10/hr on weekends.
Boy oh boy, if my handyman found out I figured out how to make a soldering iron out of a pencil, piece of wire, and a usb connector…. He’d be soooooo pissed!
I'm pissed as a handyman that I have been using quality store bought soldering irons. when I could have been making a superior one with just a pencil broken charger and a piece of copper wire.
I'm reminded of advice by Father Guido Sarducci, who said you can make an emergency umbrella with a garbage bag, a hulahoop and a stick. "So if it's raining and you don't have an umbrella, but you do have, you know, a garbage bag, a hulahoop and a stick....".
Who are these handymen that don’t want us to know these secrets??? How can we punish them?? I suggest we make a lot of crazy Vic lighters to show them who’s the boss!
Very much so. All of them are more trouble than they are worth, some downright dangerous. Hack a staircase into existence, then the handyman might be scared :D
The reason handymen don't want you to know this is because literally every 'Tips & Hacks' that was shown was just a really inefficient way to go about it
youre saying working 1 hour at mcdonals to buy a cheap solder iron is more efficient then making one out of household products? hmmm maybe , but then you gotta write a resume, apply a bunch of times, buy some clothes, wake up couple hours early , or you could have just turned that pencil and wire on your desk into one...? i dunno... close call.
What do you mean? Making a custom wood bit for your drill to twist 2 over stripped wires and leaving them exposed is much more efficient than a wing nut
As a handyman myself I have never needed to rig up anything i just watched on a job site. Maybe if I start charging by the hour i could retire early by making my own tools on the job.
Assalamu Alaikum. I am a student of EEE department. I🧡 have watched all the videos from your youtube channel and I am waiting for new videos every day. ❣️ I like the videos a lot. Love is endless from Bangladesh. 🇧🇩
A typical wall charger is 2.1 amps at 5 volts. That's 10.5 Watts. They sell 10 Watt soldering irons. As it is a resistive load, it should be 100% efficient.
I've seen soldering done with nothing more than a bic lighter. Folding the finger guard up and over the flame. Inmates are way more efficient with these hacks.
I'd much rather have a conversation with the person who made the lighter than all the fcking smart-arsed dullards who are criticising and saying you should just buy a lighter.
You'll be happy you watched this video if you ever get lost in the jungle and all you've got with you is an empty disposible ligther... A drill, two screws, a screwdriver, some baking soda, water, a syringe, superglue and a 9v battery...
Now I know how to give my $1.69 lighter a second life. All I need is: $0.32 screws, $0.97 baking soda, $7.99 mini bench vise and $5.54 9v battery. p.s. I can borrow screwdriver from my friend or use dime because finger nails don't work
To ensure you get success.... Use extremely cold water for immersing the bottle after using the string burn method. It is actually the extreme difference in temperature that causes the glass to contract in the cold.
Even if it did work, there's no way I would use a USB switch mode power supply to do it. That's got instant cut-out or small electrical fire written all over it.
*You should try it right now and plug it into any computer you own. Come back and tell us how Excellent and Fantastic it worked before your computer/laptop died.* 🖕
You spend more money to refill that lighter with your inefficient "trick" that only works 1 time, than just buying a refillable one with a brutane can to refill it a dozen of times
If there was an apocalypse where you couldn't just go out and buy lighters, I guess I can see where the lighter hack would come in handy. Now how do you diy a battery to make the lighter work? 😃
This is the perfect comedy channel. A doomsday prepper walks into a bar already drunk and says to himself "The apocalypse is coming I better get my portable meth head diy tool chest and turkey baster ready, hmm maybe I can combine those 2 things in a RU-vid video."
