I have had 2 gen3 heaters and a gen 4 for about 13 & 12 years and they have been the most dependable and efficient heaters I have ever owned. The first 3 years I had them they provided a lot of the heat in my house in Michigan without breaking the bank. Set them so they cycle in auto and they work great.

I service these units where I work at, we sell and are a warranty/service center for EdenPure. Most Gen3 units have a 3 year warranty, which EdenPure will cover the bulbs and most everything on the unit. If you only had a 1 year warranty, than you have a refurb unit. I have never had any issue working with EdenPure for customer issues. They stand behind their product. I love mine.

I agree that eden pure stands by there warranty about 70%, we have 2 heaters a Gen 4 1500w and a 1000w don't remember the other name Gen 3 ? Idk adc purchased Jan 2012 the Gen 4 blew all bulbs at about 2 winters, called eden they sent replacement bulbs the only problem is that it took damn near till spring to receive them literally no bs 5 weeks 😕 The 1000 watt just died so I don't know if there is still a warranty, anyways these heaters are good economically and heat fairly well. My only complaints are is that these are expensive and 1. when the bulbs go you are without a heater for weeks 2. bulbs are pricey 3. Should have a longer warranty and faster bulb shipping for the premium price tag.

My Gen3 is from 2009 and still going strong. You have to be smart enough to use a thermostat so your heating elements last. If you run it on high nonstop, the bulbs will burn out sooner. I haven't changed the bulbs yet. It's not meant to replace your furnace. It's meant to supplement your furnace!

I bought 2 Edan Pure "Sun Pro" heaters in wood cabinets & remotes about 16 yrs ago. I haven't had an issue yet, but I also don't run them on max. Thats the one thing that burns them out. High temps degrade things quicker. That's the one consumable part you can generally expect to replace over time. The problem is a lot of people run these on high for extended periods. Yeah, that's gonna wear out those elements quicker. They actually sell a much better replacement element that they use now. Quarts element works of electricity. It isn't a magical glass element that works by itself. They will all eventually fail, but at how fast depends on how hard you use them.

I have this edenpure heater and blower stopped working. What I found is there was one peace on the circuitboad (SRD-S-112DM ) had blown. Looked up part on edenpure web and board cost $39.95. Installed it and works like a charm. This is a 8 yr old unit. So you can fix them.

Ron: The same happened to me not too long ago. Brown + red should be high, leaving brown + white as low. Just be sure to use wire connectors and cap the left over wire to avoid any inadvertent connection. Quality electrical tape should seal all wires. The auto-shut off still works in case the unit is tipped over. Remember that you'll now have to plug and unplug the unit to turn on and off.

you don't have much working knowledge about your subject matter and your basing your information on one heater. I have 2, my mom has 2, my sister has 1, my aun't has 2, and several of my friends have them and we have had them for years with only a couple of minor problems and edenpure stood behind their product 100%. You need to do a lil' more research on something before you go bashing a product based on ONE out of thousands.

Because the glass tubes the tungsten coil is contained in also contains a gas in which let's the coils burn years or until the gas escapes and at this time of seepage the tungsten coils overheat and melts

Oh it says in the manual its very important to keep the filter clean. Its possible that the filter got to dirty and it did not get proper air flow... could be what burned them out. The elements are rated at 20,000 hours which should be about 5 years of normal winter use.
@groovee63

I removed my filter altogether.. I blow it out pre season with compressed air.. A filter will cause problems because people rarely check it, at least on these things.. Just my SOP practices

The main reason these go bad is people unplug the unit while it is cooling down, it should be allowed to complete the cooling cycle when turned off and not unplugged until the cooling fan cycles off, that's why some people are having problems they don't read the instructions then gripe when something goes wrong that could have been prevented.

I have a Heat Wave EA1240 about 3 yrs old and it quit. First thing I found was the on/off switch was bad. So, I bypassed it and now it shows E2 on the display and does nothing. I have pushed all the buttons and get no response. There some kind of switch mounted on the side. My guess is it is a cutoff switch in case it gets knocked over. I bypassed it as well. Still get the E2 on the display. I do not want to throw it away, but I do not know what to do next. Looks nothing like the one in the video, other than size wise.

@drewbie416
@drewbie416 10 лет назад
Call EP first because if it is still under warranty they will send you to a warranty center or send you the part needed for free, if it is still cover. A Gen4 like yours, when new, has a 5 year warranty. Take the 4 screw off the rear black cover. The rear cover will come off and than you'll see the fan and circuit board that is attached to a metal plate. Don't mess with the fan or circuit board. There will be one screw at the top above the fan and one at the bottom of the metal plate, almost hidden. Look under the metal lip to see it. Take those out and gently lift upward and the fan and metal plate with the circuit board on it will lift up and out. You can lay this piece down and there are your bulbs. Do one bulb at a time and just follow steps in reverse. Easy. I can do one of those units in about 10 mins.

Overpriced Quartz Infrared Portable Heater. It may supplement your whole house heater gas cost but your elec bill will spike. quartz is the glass tube that the heating element is inside. quartz is used i think because it can handle very high temperatures without breaking. in modern refrigerators the defrost heater is a quartz heating element and there the quartz is being used because cold water dripping onto a hot tube would shatter normal glass.

Most quartz elements uses coils inside to heat up more surface area. It the tube itself that is quartz glass. These heaters are built well overall. Plus you have other brands with same technology that are built well. I prefer these over the cheap plastic crap Lasko that only lasted 6 months and others. The quartz based heater heat the place better as wider spread and not like Lasko where heat goes to ceiling. Plus had that quartz heater for 2 years and no issues and runs quiet. Perfect for bird room, beside my oil based radiator heater as no PTFE. Yes is overpriced for costing over $350 for the EdenPURE no doubt, but not a scam. Their are other heaters that are based on the same, or close to elements that are built well you can buy for about $125 that do a good job. Yes these heater can do about 250 no problem, but won’t push it past that?

These are great, easily serviceable heaters. This guy obviously has no real time experience with using or repairing one of these heaters. I suspect this heater he is working on was probably dropped, they are glass elements and they can be broken, treat it well and you will be really happy with it.

I suspect they wanted the hyper-trendy 1990's buzz term "Quartz Heater" on the box although, as a heating unit in use, it's decidedly convection (aside from a bit leaking from the grill for show). I tend to agree with other commenters on air-flow. The misapplication of those IR emitters in a design like this adds risk since air-flow suddenly becomes very critical to emitter life.

It isn't tungsten, it is nichrome (nickel and chrome alloy) wire in the elements and REAL quartz infrared heaters use the same elements only they are mounted in front of a reflector where you actually see them. Not sure why these are brown unless that is from the wire oxidizing.
@garreymorford4337
@garreymorford4337 4 года назад
What wrecked that specific heater was.....someone unplugged it from the mains before the heater shut off. The fan keeps running after you turn it off to cool down the elements. If they are not allowed to cool down before mains are removed, then you get overheated elements that break like what is shown. NO other reason for those to die like what you are showing. I have had Edenpure heaters specifically the 1000 and the 1000xl and learned the hard way.

Perhaps the elements burned out because someone kept turning the heater off before the blower could cool down the elements. Or the heat sensor was defective. The heater is never to be shut off by pulling out the plug or shutting off the power to the outlet it is plugged into. the fan will run after the heater is shut off by the switch on the heater in order to cool down the heating elements so they don't break from overheating them. That is what the sensor is suppose to do in order to protect the heating elements and yes they are quartz elements.

They are made to heat an enclosed room. They will heat the room pretty fast then shut off. If you use it in an open space they will run continuously and not last as long. Also, the filter on the back needs to be cleaned about once a month or sooner depending on how dusty the area is or it will cause the unit to run hotter and burn the elements out. You have to be smarter than the unit which it seems you are not.

Same thing coming out of china is worth no more than 60 bucks. Never spend more than that on any electric space heater no matter the claims the key is to have good insulated house or room to have best efficiency out of a heater. Obviously you don't want to have a tiny one in a big room but it doesn't take much to heat a small well insulated bedroom. I just run cheap 40bucks wire element heaters about the size of an average home computer monitor in an average home. Two of those take care of the down stairs well on low with knob at 11:00 .

They are not quartz heating elements. And mine burned out the elements after only a few years too. They are not worth the money they cost. Their made in China too... The fan wont come on, until the elements heat up some. And when you shut them off, don't just unplug it, because the fan must run for a little while, to cool the elements. Or you will burn out the elements very fast.

This is one of the BEST units sold, a shame that the importer abondoned them. So you have to buy elements every 5 - 6 years, what is the big deal? Its not made to heat the entire house. If there is any scam here its YOU. Why dont you make a video that actually helps people, like on LifeSmart, LifeCorp, Lifepro, Lifezone products?

I spent $70 on bulbs and it didn’t work. I’ll never buy another eden pure. Overpriced and overrated. Duraflame from lowes is half the price and works just as good. Vornado is good too and cheaper as well.

Lol...first of all it's not a bulb it's an element second of all the elements are made up of a quartz tube wich is a hollow stick or maybe you would understand looks like a glass drinking straw and in the middle from one end to the other is the filament or element made of a coiled metal that produces heat when electricity is applied just call it the springy thing so you can keep up then the glass straw allows the heat to distribute evenly or more evener and as soon as this process brings the heat just a little higher than what the air that is to come out from inside of this warming machine this is when the thermostat controlled switch that controls the fan makes the fan turn so the heat machine can make a warm wind eventually blowing more hot air than you can but without the straws with springs hooked up and working this fan or Squirrel cage Blower will need Direct power In order to test For it's working Status And there it is rocket science simplified ROFLMAO

You actually know very little about quartz heaters, the TUBE that the element is in is made of quartz. Quartz doesn’t impede the infrared. These elements ARE quartz! And this is a very good, very efficient heater.

Oh ok your the brains of this outfit....not....you don't know what I know for sure
@jbontra2

You clearly stated these were NOT quartz heater elements and the very much are, this a basic portion of what quartz heater is and somehow claiming that they were a scam because of this or the fact that an element burned out for one person doesn’t make this a bad product any more than a burned out bulb on a car headlamp does. You don’t know how the heater was handled, may have been kicked or dropped with the heater running, may have been mishandled by UPS or Fedex when it was originally shipped weakening the element. Making broad statements like calling a product a scam based on one bad element is a bad practice. These heaters contain copper tubes(part of the expense) that are heated by the elements and the elements can shut down and let the copper give off heat so the heater uses less energy.

It's designed like this on purpose, so you have to keep buying light bulbs and the company rakes in the cash.

Hate to be contrar, but have an Eden Pure and 2 Life force Heaters and the Life Forces are twice better heaters as the Eden pure and cost 1/3 less. Would not buy brand name Eden ever again. We tested them both, Both same size, same wattage. Eden Pure fails

I purchased an Eden Pure 500XL for about 375 dollars. Replaced the bogus "Quartz Infrared Bulbs" three times. Get yourself a Ceramic Lasko space heater. Eden Pure is a scam.
