I would pick a Costco over the rest but I have to admit that Costco needs to revamp their online site and shopping experience. However, when it comes to quality of products and customer service, I doubt a company owned my Walmart can compete.
There are a few videos explaining how you are only saving about 14$ and because of the portions most ppl toss half of everything they buy out it’s crazy I shop both Sam’s and Costco I only buy my meat and veggies from Costco but the rest is the same as Sam’s club
I don't see any Sam' s Club north of the border. I do shop at both Costco & Walmart. I find Costco way more user friendly and way less screw ups. Costco also offers a discounted fueling & liquor service. I'll keep paying the $60 Costco membership fee because of the various benefits & savings !
Costco caters to higher quality products but at a price. Sams being connected to walmart sources from the same lower value product, not for all items but indeed for most.
I worked at the Sams club in Alpharetta ,Ga and terrible managers there. They do not know how to communicate at all and yell at you after you do something you did not know anything about.
@@whynot23 That's not really true for me. It's definitely about the service, selection and employees. Price isn't a big deal usually if it's reasonable for a high quality product.. I mostly go for the high quality meats wine sometimes and cheeses. I’m not out shopping for 100 rolls of toilet paper
It’s literally sponsored by them. It says so in the video. This is an advertisement disguised as investigative journalism, and you didn’t catch the part where it literally says in the video that sams club paid cnbc.
It is about Sam’s club challenging Costco and what they are doing to get a share of Costco’s lion share in this industry. There’s a video also posted years ago by this channel about Costco winning this category. And why no one can beat them
@clot shots That's not what I was saying. The point was is unhappy employees ( or customers) are a lot more likely to take to the sites to rate and vent. And the difference between a 3.4 vs 3.5 rating is immaterial.
I hear you but they do need to chill out at the door man. Don't yell at me because I am not a member. How about make it so I can just look without buying and being yelled at (because I did not have a membership).
@@DROIDFARM Just not how it works at Costco. You need a membership period. The "yelling" probably comes from your own attitude. It's a well know and long established policy. You don't get to window shop without a membership.
@@謬 Absolutely not. Few Sam's Club employees are happy with their company. Most Costco employees are. Stats and online sites such as Glassdoor have made that clear for quite some time
Each place offers its own special items. Costco brand is usually name brand repackaged. Their diapers are Huggies and their laundry soap is actually Persil. Sams brand diapers are pampers and their laundry soap is tide and gain. Costco where I live is just a store with a fueling station. Sams where I live has a fuel station and car wash that is free to those with platinum status. Both offer bulk products. Both sell organic and name brand crap. Both have toys, books, alcohol, and seasonal items. Idk. I can go into either one and find what I’m looking for.
@@謬 Negative Ghost Ryder it all comes down to SMART business management practices. You can tell the difference in attitude in employees versus Sam’s Club members. The new innovative products Costco distributes is head and shoulders over Sam’s Club. The commentary in the video even said so…
I work at a third party warehouse that has only three customers. Sams Club, Costco, and BJ’s. We can send ANYTHING to Sams club no matter how damaged or crappy the product. Costco is absolutely meticulous and requires perfect product when we pick and ship their orders.
yep I work at the Costco depot in NJ. If the plastic wrap on a pallet is ripped they will refuse the entire load and send the truck back out. Ive seen many unhappy truckers ( not there fault) Costco is strict with what material is coming into the system
The one thing I dislike about Sam's is the produce. It's often bad quality at every one I visit. Hardy stuff like carrots are fine, the berries and greens are rarely good.
Kirkland stuff all the way baby! Even jeans that are Kirkland are of better quality than Levi's. I don't give a crap if someone notices the Kirkland label.
I’ve never seen a Sams Club so they seem the fewest to me. Just Costco and BJs around here, so it depends where you live. There’s a Costco 15 minutes to the north of me and also around 20 mins to the south of me, but I go with BJs since that’s only 5 minutes away. Costco is the best overall though, gold standard of wholesale clubs.
i like how Sam's Club has the Pay n Go, option, bypassing the checkout. Other than that, Costco seems to have higher quality products on average, better customer services, & bigger parking spaces.
@@johniii8147 definitely not ideal for all which is unfortunate. Makes Costco extremely congested at all times. Especially weekends. I have both memberships and I do lean towards sams. I keep my Costco membership for their water, clothing, diapers, and some of their premade foods. Oh and squishmallows.
I am a member of both Sam's and Costco. I think they both have nice offerings, the advantage of Sam's is that it's like half as crowded as Costco. I do love Costco though, it's just always packed. I actually think Sam's employees are just as nice and helpful as Costco employees, they are definitely not your standard Walmart employee they seem happier and are very polite.
And customer. Never hear of anyone happy with their experience going to Sam's, they always say it's just as bad as having to deal with Walmart. But I hear (and experience myself) nothing but good with Costco
@@leotide1990 I agree. Costco employees are more intelligent and helpful and have usually been there for years. Come to think of it, maybe that’s why Sam’s is focusing on robots, and automated checkout because the customer experience is so bad.
@@leotide1990 I enjoy going to my Sam's Club. I was a Costco member for over 12 years but when we moved to our current location, the Costco was crowded and stressed to go to. The Sam's Club was more convenient so I tried it out instead and found that they sold the items I was interested in, at a comparable price and I lost nothing but the stress moving from Costco to Sam's. NOW I can even use the app to scan as I go and know exactly what my bill is going to be, plus make checkout a breeze.
As a member of both clubs, I find that Sam’s has excelled in their technology. Their entire shopping experience can be pretty frictionless and is significantly better than Costco’s. I think this is the biggest differentiator between both for me. However, Costco tends to have a lot more options and their Kirkland brand is usually pretty solid. I’ve noticed sams is a bit cheaper for some goods too. Still enjoy going to both.
I have a Sam’s club membership and it’s the Walmart of warehouse stores. My sister has a costco membership and we don’t have one near me so I went with her one time and it was the most amazing experience. Those that go to Sam’s club, go there because there isn’t a costco around. Lol
Taking the first step is the hardest, but 7 house later living off passive income since June 6, 2016. You’ve got to start taking steps to achieve your goal.
That's a good decision if you start now. I invested in Stocks or Gold coins with the help of a Fin. consultant and was able to buy my second house last year September and hope to buy more if things keep going smoothly for me.
The scan and go, or whatever it is called, is such a convenient thing. Skip the super long lines, and just walk out. To me that alone makes it worth it.
I’m a Sam’s Club girl. Not as busy as Costco. I’m a plus member. It works for me getting free shipping (not sure if Costco has an equivalent) in a day or two. I earn cash back at Sam’s (not sure if Costco does). In my area gas is cheaper at Sam’s than Costco.
I work at Sam's I never worked at Costco so I can't compare from an employee standpoint. One of the main differences is Costco workers are Teamsters, a great union. We don't have a union at all. I'm working hard to change that at my club, I'm the leader of our organizing campaign.
Mobil checkout is the game changer at Sam's Club. No waiting in lines, whereas every Costco is always slammed. Also I hated going to Wal Mart before self checkout, but now that they have so many self checkout stations I shop pretty much exlusively at Wal Mart if Sam's doesn't have what I need. I have tried curbside pickup a few times and it was a horrible experience each time, which just goes to show as long as you don't have to be dependent on any kind of service, Walmart is great. Personally I have no desire or need to ever talk deal with or talk to any employee while shopping so Sam's/Walmart works well for me.
The stock market has been a really tough one this past year, but I watched an interview on CNBC where the anchor kept mentioning "KATRINA VANRENSUM ". This prompted me to get in touch with her, and from August 2022 till now we have been working together, and I can now boast of $540,000 in my trading portfolio.
I worked for Sam’s Club, and it is not up to par with Costco in many areas, especially member service. They pay so low, and they run the club with as few associate as possible.
u said it ...always a lot of work not enough workers ...also some members be mad as hell when the item their looking for is out or has been discontinued and take it out on u
Walmart is known for cheap products and bad customer service. Costco is known for great products, great customer service, and good prices. I see no reason I would ever give sams club a try, unless they totally broke from Walmart.
i love costco in store shopping, but sams club online experience is even better. The free shipping on everything being sent right to my door is top tier, as someone that buys items by the pallets, sams club makes online shopping wholesale wise SUPER EASY
@@lralou8 I don’t doubt it. I get all of my business supplies and other things shipped for free. Even though you don’t get the 2% as a Plus member when you shop online, when you use their credit card you still get 3% so it evens out. And the 2% will probably be lost in profit if I sent our trucks to Sam’s Club to pick up merchandise.
This is where Costco is lacking. I think Costco deliberately handicaps the online experience to keep shoppers in the physical stores. Especially with the higher product prices on the Costco website.
I frequently order my dog food that way. It’s usually to my door in 1-2 days. The scan n go is a big time saver for me. Even when getting gas. Scan the gas barcode and a couple clicks on your phone and you’re good to go.
@@Emation7 I believe it’s because of the lack of distribution center that Costco doesn’t have is the reason why they don’t push the costco online experience more. Costco mobile looks like a mobile app from the 2015’s, super outdated, hard to scroll by etc. But I can see why they do that, they probably barely break even or even in some instance lose money when they have stuff out for shipping. I’m sure their cost of the merchandise, their sellers include the shipping already, so if their cost is the same as if they were to have it delivered to their warehouse vs them making the deliveries I can see how it can cut on their margins a lot. VS Sams club that have a bunch of shipping facilities, walmarts everywhere etc i can be way more feasible for Sam’s Club to dominate the online space
I will always stay a Costco member Costco have better organic food. Costco have better home appliances. Costco dont have to change anything they just need to expand more stores in Texas
I don't even have to step in the Sam's Club store for my membership the pay for itself. All I have to do is buy gas there. In the past I also bought the Sam's Club brand split King adjustable base and saved between $2,000 and $3,000 compared to local stores. 10 year warranty. ❤ Sams
Also if you order contact lenses online they are less than half the price of retail which pays for itself as well. I have vision insurance through my employer so the eye exam is free, and order the contacts from Sams Club.
I love the scan n go feature. I love my free (and timely) shipping. My curbside pick up is slow, but it’s like that everywhere in my area, lack of staffing I imagine in every retail store. I spend so much that my plus membership pays for itself the following year. So all the perks and not really paying to get all the perks.
We bailed on Sam’s Club in favor of Costco a few years ago and never looked back. We’ve found the quality of products at Costco better than that offered at Sam’s Club.
I always had Costco card, but when we moved 2 years ago we only had a Sam's closed by so we shoped there, until last november a new Costco opened on the other side of the street from Sam's. We did a few months of shopping at both and poor Sam's has nothing on Costco, other than Pay and Go which is very useful. We will let our Sam's membership expire in April and just keep Costco. Sorry Sam's you need to do better with the quality of Member's Mark since Kirkland is not much more expensive but quality is at a whole other level, and customer service, we had to do a few returns on both, aveerage time for Costco about 5 to 10 min depending on the line and over 30min at Sam's every time.
Sams club all the way. It’s cheaper, have better/known brands, there is less people, everything is organized with signs guiding you to what you’re there to buy, cheap gas and the scan n go app that not only lets you skip the lines but actually lets you know how much you’re spending in real time so no surprises at check out.
As a Costco member, I'm not buying cleaning aisle inventory robots. So I don't see why I should switch from Costco to Sam's. True technology helps cut operation cost down but that's their concern as savings don't go directly to the clients.
BJ's has the spying robot, one is a floor cleaning machine, that has a sign on it, "do not use to clean floors", they also have a new spying robot coming out, under the lie of cleaning etc.
Having worked for Sams Club (AKA Walmart) I will never give them a dime of my money. Treat their employees terrible, pay them low wages...... No thanks
The thing that Walmart & Sam's doesn't understand is that Costco treats and pays their employees better. And many consumers, including myself, would prefer to support companies like that.
BJ's was originally started by the ZAYRE discount department store chain (eventually Zayre sold their department stores to the AMES chain) and the TJ MAXX chain was also created by Zayre! Also, there once was a wholesale club chain called PACE MEMBERSHIP WAREHOUSE which was started by KMART, but that didn't last long, and most of their stores were sold to Sam's Club in 1993! Yes, KMART once sold a failing division to WALMART! There were many locations where Kmart and PACE stores were next door to one another, so it was a bit strange seeing KMART stores with Sam's Club stores next door (after the failure of PACE) since Sam's Club was owned by Walmart, and usually Sam's Club stores are next to Walmart Supercenter stores!
I live in the southwest part of the Las Vegas Valley, and I have a Sam's Club membership mostly out of convenience. The closest Costco is farther from where I live than the 2nd closest Sam's Club. Also, the Sam's Club Plus membership still allows early hours. Way more convenient when you're trying to shop in the morning before the heat ramps up on summer days. I heard Costco no longer allows early hours for Executive members.
Product at Costco is better but I HATE the crowds and the fact that I have to wait until 10 AM to shop at Costco. The PLUS membership at Sam’s allows we to shop as early as 7 AM and avoid crowds, so I’ll sacrifice a little bit of product preference for a better shopping experience.
Sam's needs to carry higher quality products for upper income levels. Costco needs to open more locations in rural areas and carry stuff they don't have that Sam's does.
Costco and Sam's club shoppers need to learn they can order products directly from manufacturers at a fraction of the cost and get it mailed to your front door. Why anyone would pay a middle man for the "connection" is just ludacris.
Sams and Walmart in general are not targeted to upper incomes. Quite the opposite. They know their customer base, just as Costco does so that's why they split the market.
the scan and go is a game changer for me, i went to a costco and the line was crazy. i can go to sams get the same items i always get and be out of there in less than 10 mins!!!!
I'd love to have access to a Costco, but Sam's was our closest option so I went with them. Discovered a BJs just as close as Sam's, so when our membership runs out I'll consider trying them. Everyone of these are over an hour away from me, so gotta do what works.
Being a user at both Costco and Sam’s I see Sam’s have improved exponentially with scan and go, dropping prices, running offers on inventory where as Costco had became a class now where they went up in prices for the same items if you are comparing with Sam’s. Given the current market situation going up on prices and driving away the consumers is not a good business.
I shop at both, for the most part sams club is cheaper. The robots in the sams are usually better then the people who do the cleaning, they will often clean right up to you even if they are pushing dirt and dust, where as the robots won’t. Scan and go is ok, but the app is off and on very buggy. I often go in the line since almost no one goes there now preferring to scan themselves, so it’s usually faster to let them do it, but I only go every 2.5 weeks. Costco I will only go once a month, usually when the in-store buys are going at the same time as member savings, then I will stock up on things I need that our on sale. Overall Costco has better variety while Sams club is cheaper.
Coming from a former sam's employee, I give them the effort in advancing technology, but they are still no match to Costco in terms of product quality and customer service. Besides, they still can't lose their Walmart DNA which is treating employees like crap.
I love Sam’s! I eat very healthy and left Costco last year alone for the produce. Sam’s is MUCH fresher and has MORE organic food overall from brands I love and know.
@@Homar-jr Understood. My question is - why do we need a machine? For a given product, we just need to track how many we stock and how many we sold, and just do a simple math. There must be something I’m missing.
I have only a Costco and BJ's near me. I've had memberships for both, but I only shop at BJ's these days cuz the lines for Costco were always too long and find a a parking space in a Costco lot was always a hassle. Both have a good selection of almost the same things except for Costco having more prepared foods and a food court with Pizza, Hotdogs, etc.....
This is my theory, based off of my experience moving across this country. Costco only builds in areas with high income and high educational attainment. Sam's builds wherever their target demographic is. Costco is making their target audience, hence the loyalty. Sam's will take whatever they can get.
Sam's club self check out process is much better than Costco's. They give me the price gun so I don't have to remove all my items out of my cart and then put them back in. More efficient.
Costco takes care of their employees. 99% of them are always kind and helpful, and it’s definitely because they feel like it’s worth their time to be there. So we customers should take care of Costco too
They both offer relatively good deals regarding bulk purchases and as someone who has shopped at both Sam's Club does have a better app and website experience. That being said I am grateful that Costco treats its workers well and has store hours to accommodate a life outside of work.
If you want a price club experience check out Costco business centers (only in select markets). They are open to all Costco members. Where else can you buy a full refrigerated lamb or an oil drum full of olive oil and a professional refrigerator. Remember when Costco sold tobacco products in a caged area, business centers have this section.
I've been working at a body shop for a bit now and extra tips I learned was if you're painting the door, it's better to take off the mirror and belt molding (the trim at the bottom of the window) for a better paint job in the end. The mirror can get in the way, and if you're unlucky, the clear coat could stick in that gap between the door and the belt molding.
We were Sam's Club members until one day while shopping my wife spotted an item that she said was cheaper at the local Walmart store. That ended our adventure in paying to shop.
I remember going to costo with my mom and getting to eat all the free samples multiple times over. I'm not in the USA anymore, but Costo will always have a special place in my heart! Guess you can call it customer loyalty
