re: billionaires funding the government around 2:16. Total wealth held by billionaires is about 4.5T. 4,500B. If the government spends 16B a day, then the wealth of billionaires could fund the gov for 281 days. Not "a couple of weeks." Not that it matters because his "argument" is nonsense to begin with, but worth pointing out again that his scenario is way off when it comes to the actual math he's claiming is on his side.

Last Friday Emma falsely claimed that Harris had made polling gains since the convention. At 2:42:17 of that stream, Adamant Lefty asked: "Where are these supposed gains that Harris has earned from triangulating since the convention?" Emma replied: "It's reflected in the poll numbers." Despite the fact that according to 538 Harris had declined an average of 1.4 points in battleground (AZ, GA, MI, NC, NV, PA, WI) states since the convention. Now it's a decline of 1.6 points, and -2.2 in the 3 crucial Rust Belt states. Instead of continuing to defend or make excuses for Harris' failing DLC-style triangulation strategy, her campaign should be pressured to change course, stop embracing neocons and corporatists and start campaigning on policies that are popular. Medicare coverage for at-home care is a good start, but she has to be way more vocal about policies like this. She won't even support a public option, which is extraordinarily popular.

Weird to hear Emma lose it on the "reality" of electoral politics. Here's an idea: vote for whoever you want to vote for. There's no test. If you tell me you can't bring yourself to vote for someone who has had a direct hand in blowing up loved ones, I understand that's real and valid. Don't vote for someone who disgusts you. If you're worried enough of those people "undermining" a candidate, then talk to your candidate. If you think giving people ultimatums is a good way to get them to act the way you want them to, I've got some bad news for you.

Higher-income people also accumulate more assets, which appreciate as well, which is why their capital grows, despite taxes. Besides which, there are many clever ways of reducing one's tax burden. Nobody earns 600,000 and then pays a straight percentage on that, unless they're stupid. I'm not in favour of expropriation taxation, but a little balance please, not propaganda aimed at people who don't know anything about the real world.
