I don't really think this kid has thought it through very much. He's probably got a shitty job and the idea of having no taxes taken out of his paycheck is really appealing. I remember feeling that way when I got my first job but I was lucky enough to have a family member explain all of it to me. Changed my mind real quick.

Tbf Jim Fixx was a heavy smoker til his mid 30s, was genetically predisposed (his dad had a heart attack at 35 and a second and fatal one at 43) Plus Jim Fix was really overweight at one stage and apparently had a pretty stressful life. The guy definitely added years to his life through running. The caller is a delusional moron for sure, but get your exercise in folks, it's crucial.

Most opioid doses are due to the goverment forcing people who are physically dependent to acquire substances from a black market supply chain due to prohibition. Alcohol is more harmful than almost every other recreational drug when abused, but you can buy it in known quantities from a liquor store and know your product is not contaminated with methanol. We already have a regulatory body that ensures the quality of drugs, the issue the other regulatory body that arbitrarily restricts access to those drugs, leaving the black market (and assosciated violence) as the only provider. All drugs should be sold freely from pharmacies, with a marginal tax applied which funds abuse treatment if people develop issues.

That'd only happen if the harm is immediate and visible to everyone, but products with substances that cause cancer for example, won't show any sign until years of use. It'd be too late for the market to correct itself by then.

Because they ultimately hadn't thought their arguments out. They operate in a space where they don't need to do so day-to-day but they live in the world with everyone else, listening to the problems of people they don't care about and can't identify with. Massive amounts of money get spent to discredit people like Bernie who are honest, and then they don’t get elected. Politicians also get lots of money from capitalists so they write policy which favours capitalists. Lobbying is another major issue that leads to capitalists having legislation implant which benefits them. All that gives capitalists more power which they can use to further control the government.

The problem, is anybody with eyeballs knows the AnCap's argument is historically accurate, with the only exception being when the government props up the crappy developers and 'experts,' thereby shouldering the blame (for example: just about everything sam mentioned in the video). I'm still toying around with this in my head, but there's probably a reason the happiest countries and highest per capita GDP countries are almost exclusively monarchies / emirates, and therefore basically anarcho-capitalist by default.

In monarchies and emirates, the monarch is sovereign, making the 'state' literally their private property, to do with as they see fit. Sure, many monarchies today have constitutions or charters. But what is a constitution if not a contract? Which again, is one of the few parts of anarcho-capitalism. If there's an argument to counter this.. Well, I wouldn't necessarily say that in the sense of trying to dismiss the concept of Anarcho-Capitalism. It is akin to those who argue Social Capitalism can't exist because Socialism and supposedly antithetical to Capitalism. We also need to recognize that just because you use one term does not mean you take every aspect of that. But if he defined himself as a Anarchist first and foremost, then he is wrong plain and simple.

That doesn't mean the term "Social Capitalism" can't exist like we saw being argued in this video where the woman basically said anarcho-capitalism wasn't a valid term. Anarcho-capitalism is taking premises from ANARCHY but not applying it in full. This is because they still accept social strata which Anarchy tends to be against. Your problem is you didn't understand what you were reading.

Its complete nonsense to say that socialism and capitalism are completely incompatible. Have you ever heard of a MIXED ECONOMY? Where the means of production are both publicly and privately owned and they operate in parallel based on different but complementary organizing and orientation principles. Granted this is unfortunately more of a theoretical optimum and exceptional rather than reflecting the mediocrity and corrupt compromises of real world systems.
