Cenk, in that soccer team story with the Google Drive docs, was just stating facts. Ana's opinion was that it's not appropriate to talk about women in that fashion, Cenk's argument was that it was locker room talk and it just happened to get public, it's something that immature guys do. He also mentioned that girls do the exact same thing, and that they're not guilty. It's just factual, and if you think Cenk is sexist in that fashion, then that's ridiculous.

This is so gross. They knew if they'd linked to the actual interview, Cenk would have come off that piece with MORE supporters. He smacked David Duke down. It was awesome.

I was waiting for someone to mention how Cenk used to not believe in the existence of mold (yes, it's true)😂. He also used to support pro-war rallies. We can agree he used to be a dumbass overall in many areas. However, he later changed for the better and has done plenty to redeem himself and denounce his prior stupidity.

I didn't follow NYT's coverage of the Kavanaugh hearings, but I don't believe for a second they made the same remarks about him.

Why does Trump not have the same standards as any other politician? With all the scandals, women coming forward, and his genuine impropriety in conducting himself, you would expect him to lose popularity. This is not the case. His character and progressivism inspires a lot of fear into corporate and establishment dems. I'm not a fan of Cenk - I prefer Sam Seeder, Michael Brooks, and David Pakman - however, I think this smear-shit is deeply disgusting, and he definetly don't deserve to get treated like that! I hope people, especially the voters in his district, sees through that shit and sees that he's actually a good guy, and the type that is needed in Congress!

I'm impressed with the defensive effort from the TYT Network. I've seen Kyle, Anna and now Sam gracefully defend Cenk and take the attack to the enemy. Hopefully Pakman will also join this fight.

I love Jamie, but come on. This isn't the time to bring up criticisms of Cenk, however legitimate, when there is an all out smear campaign against him from the corporate dems. He is the most progressive candidate for CA25 and there is no denying that.

For the first time I'm disappointed in Bernie I dont care what political influences people were putting on him he didn't stick to his principles by taking back his support of Cenk. If anyone on my staff had given me that ultimatum I would have said "ok that's fine just clear out your desk and I hope you have luck in your future endeavors bye. Dont let the door hit you on the way out." Principles matter and should never be put aside for politics.

I love what Michael says near the end- "taken out of context" is waaaaay too generous a phrase. PS: Not to dismiss what his stupid take on the list, but he's definitely a feminist. I think if you stacked up the stuff that could be misogynist to the amount of the progressive ones, the stupid ones wouldn't even show up on the graph. Interesting tactic. Worked well in the UK. Labour may have thought they could ride it out with certain smears thrown at them but the main outlet there, BBC, kept it alive right to the death. What I find most interesting about the BBC thing is that they went in on Corbyn knowing that Labour would firewall them from destruction whereas the Tories would most certainly go in on them. It has not been but a few days since their victory and they have started a campaign against the BBC and believe me, there isn't much love for the BBC in the UK. Begin of the end for the BBC.

Whoah!! Cenk appologised/recanted those positions well before he decided to run for office. It's an unfair characterization to say he's saying "I used to be sexist, then I got better" because "that's how you have to talk about things in this political climate". If you had been watching the show over the years (and there's no reason you would have, necessarily), you would have seen the (genuine) evolution of Cenk from these positions to ones he genuinely holds today. This is true for many of his opinions and of the nuances he used to hold on others. Is the fact that he was once a republican going to be held against him today, even though he's clearly one of the most progressive voices in America? Does the fact that he held unacceptable sexist attitudes in the past and has since come to realize that this is, indeed, unacceptable negate his current, more mature, informed and thoroughly thought-out, discussed and debated opinions? If so, then perhaps we should consider thinking about where we're going to get all those saints from to represent us in public or stand for office. Just saying. I have no dog in this fight - I'm not an American and I don't reside in the US. However, I really do have hope that it will be the US that the turns current global trend toward authoritarianism and neo-extreme-right-wing politics around. But I don't see how that is best achieved by saying you'll only vote for someone who has an impeccable record (particularly if they've ever spent any length of time speaking in public). Which of us has never done anything even slightly reprehensible? Which of us has never held any views or opinions that would now be considered (by us or others) naïve/immature/stupid/disgusting/unacceptable? I seriously recommend looking at the different times Cenk has discussed these negative aspects of his personality and how he came to see them as such. It's important (for this discussion) to note when that happened. It wasn't after he decided to run for office.

There is a disease amongst liberals where people are put on pedestals and get buried at the first sign of controversy. There is hardly any room for nuance; criticism is always uncharitable; and let alone any forgiveness for lower instincts (which are inevitable). This is the cost of being extremely aggressive against opponents. We resort to acrobatics to defend allies while keeping the hallway pass to be nasty and uncharitable against ideological opponents. The New York times piece against Cenk is not all that different from hundreds of similar uncharitable "bits" against conservatives on this very channel (except here you can guise it as "talk radio" or "clickbait"). I consider myself liberal; a "modern" one at that.

Obviously what we're talking about is the (dis)honesty and the priorities of the NYTs and corporate news. But I would even support his defense of the men's soccer team that had the sexual "scouting report" of the girl's team. At least, I'm comfortable saying I don't know which part made it so objectionable. Political correctness and cancel culture are creating an atmosphere where people in the public sphere deem certain words and actions wrong, but in private, people aren't convinced that those things are wrong. I'm sure there are decades of feminist literature that explain exactly what's wrong with something like this, but their arguments haven't been effectively disseminated. What gets disseminated is "men's team sexist; sexism bad; men's soccer team bad." We have to do better at having conversations as a society.

By the way, I dont watch cable news at ALL. I used to read the newspaper when I was in high school, but I exist largely in a news space completely disconnected from cable or print news save for editorial work and critiques on this show or others. Had I not discovered TYT as a young adult and then later on, this show, I'd have no way to debunk or think past the MSM narrative of the political landscape. I think the most important part of this show and others is that they provide listeners with a better sense of political epistemology when one is confronted by spun mainstream news.

I won't be surprised at all if a lot of people (Blacks, conservatives, trumpers, centrists, democrats and the pseudo-woke people alike) rail Cenk about his blog a decade ago, and then uses Kevin Hart's twitter situation (which is similar, but not the same) as a reason to justify the smear as if Cenk deserved it. (Really quick, the difference is that Cenk made a change in order to consistantly advocate for the folks he used to disparage as a conservative, and Kevin Hart made very little change at all, is still the same person who made those comments a decade ago, and refuses to advocate for the folks he disparaged or apologize for his remarks and "jokes.")

I have completely replaced mainstream media with shows such as this, TYT, David Pakman, amongst others and also late night comics all on RU-vid. I know their biases and they never have to issue a retraction, I can count on the accuracy.

The NYT has lost all of its credibility and if they want to gain it back they need to retract and accurately portray cenk and also fire that lazy reporter
