I agree. I do like the Logic version about as much, but the progression made more sense in the original. I think starting it off with Logic threw off the progression a bit. Still great songs.
The progression worked better on the original. I do like this version too, but Sam’s reasoning behind his vocals made more sense as he was singing more and had the emotional power to require the things he did at the end. It was a bit of an insult to say it was Logic who inspired Smith to sing how he did at the start when it obviously was Smith who inspired Logic to add a rap to Smith’s so g.
The choir is what makes this song even more powerful. I feel like you guys had your minds made up about both Sam Smith and logic. It's obvious that you respect logic more than Sam Smith. You should look into the lyrics as well. This song is beautiful lyrically and artistically as well. If it's not your cup of tea that's fine but don't disrespect it by comparing it to a generic pop song or a cover on got talent.
People hate what they don't understand and with Logic people hear the things Joyner Lucas has said about Logic and think he's a phony, Logic is my inspiration for why I make my rap music, for me Logic is misunderstood by people, because certain people are so ignorant to see the talent. They think his motto is corny, Peace, Love and Positivity, that's why people shit on Logic
REACT TO J COLE, he’s logic idol in rap and logic has said he’s the main reason why he started rapping. Also some Kendrick would be nice but not his mainstream stuff Love yours- J cole Loved ones- J cole Sing about me/ I’m dying of thirst- Kendrick Feel-Kendrick For your eyez only- J cole How much a dollar cost- Kendrick
I feel like a lot of musicians really discredit vocalist who really are doing some amazing stuff... that, no not any or even the majority of singers could do. Like there is a difference between someone who just can sing, and someone who you can tell has put in the work for a long tome and knows their voice and the “craft”. Just from being a vocalist for a long time, you encounter this kind of dismissive attitude from a lot of other musicians (especially metal), who don’t really let you have any space to show your perspective or abilities. But I still love the channel and how y’all try to appreciate and see value in other stuff- maybe y’all will appreciate vocalists more as it goes on too!
Absolutely loved your guys' perspectives on Logic, coming from a huge fan of over 3 years. Two things I wanted to point out from this video; first off, Logic recently got divorced from his wife, Jessica, and I think that fueled a lot of emotion within this feature. The other thing was the (inevitable) backlash you guys have received from doing so many Logic videos. Like you pointed out, within rock there are countless occurrences of covering and using other work as inspiration for your own, which is very widely accepted, I'm assuming, within the genre. People may copy the Slipknot's and the Metallica's, but EVERYONE knows that they are great. Now, the misconception many rap fans hold about Logic is that he is unoriginal. People have called out Under Pressure as being basically a copy of Kendrick Lamar's Good Kid, M.A.A.D City album, which was released within the same year. In hip-hop, despite the various samples of previous "great" artists that can be found in many current rappers' songs, it's considered to be a very negative thing to steal other artists' ideas, flows, and the like. This, I feel, is why Logic doesn't get that respect, along with the many other factors like his race and his "corny" lyrics. However, I always love new channels getting into Logic's work and I've especially appreciated both of your perspectives on my favorite artist. Keep up the great work, guys.
Mason Cabillon As for the copying issue, I’ve always had the opinion that he definitely takes from other artists and wears his inspirations on his sleeve but I think he combines all those inspirations and does a good job of making it his own. Some songs are better than others about it, but I really don’t get the absolute HATE he gets for it, just seems outrageous to me.
I completely agree, man. I think Logic has always sounded like himself and been about himself, and he uses those influences to create something meaningful to him. I've always loved the guy too, but the haters come when you start to blow up.
You have never heard.... Sam smith... sing from the heart???? Say those things when you have actually heard a decent amount of his music. Sam is an extremely soulful singer.
I just found these guys and I feel sorry that they cant enjoy the Sam smith parts as much as the rest of the people do, sorry guys, great video though!
I love your channel and I've supported Simon in his other endeavours in the past, and its completely fine you dont like Sam Smith, but I think Simon saying at the end that it could have been anyone is massively unfair
I think you guys should check out some other contemporary rappers as well- keep going with logic and his older stuff especially, but also try others. Joey Bada$$ is an incredible artist for example- I’d advise ‘Temptation’ for a generally excellent track, or ‘Paper Trails’ for a more old school feel
Do Joey Badass. Start with Paper Trails and go from there. There's also a video of him and Logic freestyling if you wanna keep going with the Logic theme
How come i just found out about this channel went to subscribe expecting u guys to have millions of subs and u only have 11k you will grow soon lmfao im sure
44 Bars!!!! never been, warm it up, young sinatra 3, paradise, 5 am, roll call, like whoa, fade away, city of stars, anything from Bobby tarantino 1 especially slave 2, and 1-800 of course.
Hey guys, you should really react to some J.cole, songs like Lost ones, apparently, 4 your eyez only (the song) , power trip... Hope you do cause it would be great to see your opinion on this :)
If you guys really want to hear Logic's amazing singing voice, Take a listen to his Unreleased song Changes. He's learned how to play the piano and it's entirely singing with no rap. Try not to cry :)
You guys really understand song structure, I had the same thought. Maybe if Logic and Sam went back and forth after Logic's second little verse and saved the crazy vocals for closer to the end, it would be more effective.
Sam didn’t change anything for this song. One of Sam’s verses was completely removed, and they just mixed what was left with Logic’s verses. It wasn’t originally written for Logic at all.
I'd suggest: Aesop Rock: Daylight/Nightlight combo, two different songs that combine into an awesome whole Run The Jewels: Legend Has it Deltron 3030-Virus
Please react to Earl Sweatshirt -Burgundy -Faucet -Grief -Whoa ft. Tyler, The Creator -Hive ft. Casey Veggies & Vince Staples -Earl is an amazing lyricist and one of the best rappers today, if you guys do react please read the lyrics on Rap Genius.
Honestly if you listen to the track before he had logic featured in it, the soul/choirs sounds better/makes more sense. I love logics versus but i agree they don’t go together that well
With politeness, for the first time I feel disappointed:( I love both Sam and Logic and this song is really great with them collaborating together. and kind of hurt about what you said in the video about Sam Smith but I get that Sam's song is not your cup of a tea:)
gday bois, would be awesome if you guys did a dual first reaction to an aussie hiphop band called the Hilltop Hoods. would be awesome to see what you think. leave a comment if you want to know some banger suggestions! keep up the good work!
Please react to Twelve Foot Ninja - Coming For You : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--ST85Sui43Q.html and/ or Twelve Foot Ninja - One Hand Killing ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-r-v9Aeb7Pr0.html They are a band from Australia, and they don't take themselves to serious. I think you will dig them
Im glad ya’ll like Logic, but could you react to some other stuff like Blacker the Berry - Kendrick Lamar or Dance with the Devil - Immortal Technique?
Maybe this is a UK perspective but we love him in the US & he made it by singing how he wants to. Thats what we love…I understand he may not be your taste but y’all are annoyingly critical. Not that serious bros
