Sam came to us from another training facility that deemed him "untrainable". The original owner and several trainers gave up on him. We knew we could help Sam so we took him in. This was a dog that was extremely aggressive and was not even potty trained at 3 years old. After a few short months with Your Dog Guru, Sam is now healthy, happy and ready to find a good home!

It is clear that poor Sam was badly mishandled, not once, but repeatedly. The more intelligent the dog, the harder it can be to undo the damage. I'm so glad you were able to do so for this beautiful boy!🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

We adopted our Malinois when she was one. She was sweet, and had a lot of habits that needed to be trained out of her. After two years, she is a great addition to our household. This video reinforces the idea that with a talented trainer, a wary, "unworkable" dog can turn into one that walks around carrying his leash, needing only his owner's verbal/visual cue. GREAT video.

@@khaaleliilighntingcoronado9009 Friday night is pizza night. We order pizzas delivered. We put the pizza on the table. One of us goes to get napkins and paper plates the other goes to get Pop. If one of us comes back before the other, my dog will run to the front door barking it's ass off. The person that got to the pizza 1st always goes to see who's at the door. The dog waits until we almost get to the door and he makes a mad dash back to the pizza, pulls the pizza off the table and eats as much as he can. He suckers us more times than I will admit.

Thank you for rescuing this Mal. Mine spent over a month at the humane society till i came along. Her pass/fail test was how she was with my kids and she was indifferent. I could work with that. About 3 months later, she's one of the pack, i mean family. This is my first dog so i have a special place in my heart for the breed so it's heartwarming to see this one make it. Honestly, it looks like all it needed was love.

Dan DeGraw correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t the breed specifically bred as a farm dog not just for the cattle but to hunt and kill rodents also to work in packs to help trap for hunting and other animals Athleticism is in the genes so ya if you have one a house pet that you keep in your house 24/7 and take on a few walks around your neighborhood then you shouldn’t have one IMO

@@yosour6733 They are belgian shepherds, they are herding dogs. They have a lot of energy and drive, the average person should NEVER have a Mal. They require a lot of training, playing, socialization, exercise, brain games, and they need to have a job, such as doing sports. I've trained many dogs and I've had 2 service dogs that were owner trained, I'm getting my 3rd prospect soon. I would NEVER get any of the belgian shepherds because I know they require a lot of time and work and I would never be able to give that to them. They are a very advanced dog breed.

I must agree. I have seen all kinds of “tricks “ and even been in on a couple. Every time that I think that’s the best.Something new comes along like this. Great job! I truly hope that he’s still here. We had a handler that had taught his dog to limp with his front paw for the word “Sickcall”. This was useful in the cold. He would call out the flight chief. Then the duty officer would come out and put the dog on a medical waver for the night. This worked out real well. The dog went back to the kennel and the handler got a warm pickup for the night. It was pretty funny to watch that dog run around and then all of a sudden just limp around and you actually felt sorry for him.

I have a year old Belgian Malinois that I started training at 2 months old. He is a fast learner. All his commands are by voice and hand. He is rewarded by love, treats or his favorite toy. Never had to use any e collar or spike collar. He is currently a search and rescue dog. Check out his videos at my profile.

hah that’s what my dutch shepherd does when I take her out. I just hand her the leash and she walks herself until I see someone else and then take it back from her so they feel safe. She used to chase after cars and ran / postured up to other dogs, I trained that out of her and she’s awesome.

Wow that's amazing! I have a malinois myself and I know first hand how much of a handful they can be, hes such a loving dog but still gets over excited when coming across new people or dogs, I would love to be able to have this much control over him to be able to walk past other dogs without having to hold him back and try and move him in another direction, one day hopefully we will get there, hes only 2 so plenty of time to learn.

So basically, when I planned on getting a Belgian Malinois and planned certain fence in mind, I unknowingly chose a fence that would have absolutely no purpose in my future yard.
@erinschroeder7866
@erinschroeder7866 8 лет назад
+amsaric This is exactly why I have to laugh when a Malinois breeder asks on their buyer form if you have a fenced in yard, if the dog wants to leave a fence may not be enough to stop it. That being said there is a potential to get a Malinois with no interest in jumping fences, it just isn't likely.

How was that trust formed? I didn't see that...nor did this trainer give viewers any idea of HOW that would be trained into the dog. All I see is a dog in a inadequate crate size, being shocked with an e - collar to form his brain around choosing between which pain he prefers....but whatever makes you be able to justify it to yourself

@sinmore11
@sinmore11 9 лет назад
Oh, I see you're a non-critical thinker...typical. Dave, here's a clue about how YT works; people see my posts (even months later) and make comments and I come back to correct their way of thinking....simple. Of course your obvious arrogance believes you have the right to judge and comment on how I choose to spend MY time. Maybe you are hung up on people that don't agree. Maybe you need a _better_ job, maybe you have no clue about my training methods...of course how could you. You made a lame comment and that had little to no reason behind it, and now you are rightfully chagrinned...buddy
@Tinohadji
@Tinohadji 9 лет назад
sinmore11 Stop speaking rubbish. The dog was going to be killed. An e-collar is not abusive. And this dogs life was SAVED YOU CRUEL PERSON! Also it says no harsh corrections were used. You can train a high drive dog like a mal, exclusively with a tug toy. Nothing done in that video is incredibly hard. Part of it comes down to the dogs natural atheltic ability. Want to know the commands? He did a sit, a down. He taught the touch command, which you can use to get the dog up on anything with just a hand signal. Rest is natural athelticism by dog. The heel was taught probably positively again with tug toys. The obedience like heel and walking next to him under distraction, probably did take some minor corrections. Thats the hardest part of the whole video. Above all it took time and patience. Because you cant understand it shows how little you know about dogtraining, just like all those other stupid trainers who gave up on dog and siad it was untrainable.

Great! I feel so rewarded to have finally hit on a video of someone who truly knows what he is doing. Congrats, Dog Guru! I reckon this is the way to communicate with a dog (or a horse even). A correct understanding of the way animals communicate, which can be observed in each and every scene of this video, is the number one ability humans need to master in order to obtain best results when teaching anything to an animal. Unfortunately, too many people get it wrong or do not get it at all. I hope every beginner replays this video as many times as necessary until all the tiny details become apparent. Once you master this, you will be able to "effortlessly" make of your pet your best companion and viceversa. The same skill is good for teaching a puppy to siting, later on to staying put, and all the way up to leading a blind person through the city trafic, or whatever you want your dog to do. Yes! Treats, clickers and harshness are for morons only. Your pet is not.
