Nothing is really breaking new grounds. I've never seen another tech company increase the price of one of their main products by 50%. Inflation doesn't even justify it. This is insane 😂
@@nonamebrand1633 And they're a lot worse than the Airpods pro, so what's your point? Nothing is a total scam, which has strangely been christened by Android fans as the next coming of christ somehow. You can get far better value buying the underrated brands like Jabra.
@@nonamebrand1633 airpods pro are still leagues above these nothing buds and their in ear ones. You can look up for great buds for the same price with audiophile reviews and forums. The AKG N400 are basically like the galaxy buds (they surprisingly have great sound) for half of the price of these nothing buds lmao
The editing in this video is a riot. James cocking his "guns", the lightsaber, the beep out of James' mouth. Love the flair, keeps the video engaging. Nice work, Marcus!
From owning a few pixel phones, a fine mesh on the speakers or microphone is a terrible idea, filth gets in but never escapes - they will get gummed up and be difficult to clean
@@dakiloth yep. It even debuted in a fashion show before it came. The whole case design itself is based on a lipstick. And we all know that fashion focussed people aren't someone who is gonna buy a product for day to day usage. They buy the product just to keep up with the trend. There are far better half-ear designed TWS than this one. For example, you got the Airpods(non-pro) , Galaxy Buds live(which is half ear but not the Airpods type design), then you have Oppo Enco Free and Enco Air 2, they are far superior in sound quality and everything than the Nothing ones and are actually meant for day to day usage.
I got the original ear(1)s on James' recommendation from the previous shortcircuit and I'm glad that I did, the ANC is quite good and they pack a decent punch. No way they're worth $150 tho.
I got them from his and MKBHD's recommendation and I really regretted it. Sound quality was trash compared to my pixel buds and my galaxy buds 2, the noise cancelling switched between two ANC profiles when on the bus making it super jarring and uncomfortable, and the countless "game-breaking" bugs I encountered over the 5 months I owned them made it so I will never buy a Nothing product again. They weren't worth $100 (because they never worked) and they certainly are not worth $150
@@NavicNick Exactly my experience. I have no idea how all these tech reviewers used to praise those things so good. In my case, they where nothing like the reviews at all. Sure, they looked very good and they sounded allright, but that's where the positives ended for me. The music often just stopped for a few seconds every minute or so (especially when I was in open area's or riding my scooter, then it happend way more frequently). Sometimes only one bud worked, so I had to reset them. The ANC was a mess, it kept switching between the two modes exactly as you told, that was really, really annoying. And worst of all, I had it happen to me tree times that after I put them back in the case, the caselight kept showing the green LED, and I was not able to do anything. I wasn't able to Reconnect them, reset them, it was like they where bricked. I had to wait two days before they went back to normal. I was so done with these things that I sold them after two months. Never have I ever bought a piece of electronics that where this frustrating and buggy. I'm gonna avoid anything from Nothing from now on. Bought the Galaxy Buds 2, and had absolutely no issues with them
I got the White Ear 1's when released & then the Blacks. Love them both, no issues for me, maybe I got lucky. I use mine while out saltwater fishing in the rain & extreme heat here in SE Texas. I've never had Bluetooth issues like loosing my connection, etc. I do wish I could get further away from my phone before I start loosing connection but for $99 I don't really care. They sound great for a flat $99. I don't like these Ear Sticks because of no tips. I don't like hard things in my ears. That starts to hurt after hours of use.
To me it’s the exact opposite. Silicone seals really bother my ears but I barely feel the looser fit earbuds sitting there. Glad there’s another option for this type finally. I have these for the gym, and AirPods for work. Hopefully these will last just as many charge cycles or longer.
I never use earbuds because I hate having them jamed in my ears. So these buds that stay in very well without being jamed in your ear are a pair I would actually use.
I took my glasses off and looked up and it was all blurry (12:05) and my heart sank, I thought to myself, omg I've gone really blind... then your camera focused and I breathed a sigh of relief :D
Big Space Odyssey 2001 vibe from these very cool. Having red for the right ear initially annoyed me because red is always starboard (left) in marine talk but then I realised the red RCA and speaker connectors are always on the right so I'll let it slide.
i noticed a clever point of the case. the orange accent on the case lines up with the right earbud spot. its an odd thing that wont be noticed as a feature but its a clever little thing
I'm just saying, the Sony WF-1000XM3's can be had for as low as 60$ depending on where you're at, and they'll rival even the new AirPods. Not to mention, they're one of the easiest TWS headphones to replace the batteries - you can order a pair of new ones for the earbuds for 20$, and be listening to music for longer again within 30 minutes following the ifixit guide.
Careful on dropping those. My Nothing ear(1)'s broke a bit of the plastic shell around the charging contacts and now they don't always charge (because they make no contact with the case) and support says "though luck, no support except for warranty". Now every time I take them out of the case the left one is a mystery it it's 100% charged or 0% charged.
@@milky_weh Don't know the AirPods 3. I did get the Stick ones meanwhite. They are terrible for my ears. Way too big and have no grip. Old style Apple earpods (the wired ones, with no rubber) used to stay fine.
Ppl talk of inflation but imo Nothing's strat has been pretty obvious since the price hike. They always meant for these to be the entry level earbuds and the ear (1) to be their "pro" version. They sold the ear (1) at a lower margin, and now that the ear (stick) is out they raise the ear (1) to the price tier it was meant to be.
I have been really enjoying the design of the nothing products, but so far nothing (hehe) has convinced me to go out and buy one of their products. I am looking forward to a new version of their phone though.
Huawei did. I got to try one of their AirPods-style non-sealing earphones with ANC and the effect was incredible. They worked so well. Unfortunately they never left China. For anyone saying it's not possible, it VERY much is.
They're not direct versions, either. I've used the Ear Stick for three weeks, and they're a totally different experience. You can compare them to the first set of buds, but I don't they're worth thinking about as straight up "versions" (like you could for say, Soundcore Liberty Air Pro, Air Pro 2, Air Pro 3, etc etc).
I bought the nothing ear last year, it lasted 1 day. After returning it 2 times and having trouble with both replacements I gave up, got refunded and bought a decent brand.
hilarious revew, from one that completely missed the key on such a pair of earbuds and likely why people look at these. almost like he doesnt even notice that they are targeted two different perspective of users. Im one of those that simply dont like that stuffed feeling of in ear models that gives that plugged feeling and Im vacuming the market for these semi in ear / half in ear types, and trying to find the ones, that is as good as it can get from that design aspect that useally take a big hit to bass. Had some B&O soem years back, as they are here from Denmark and on sale, and generally like their clean soundstage, but dang those E8 did not fit well with my ears and definately did not like that stuffed feeling of siclicone or memory type earbud types. . Have a pair of Apple Pro 2 in the household.. and I was impressed how comfortable they are for stuffed plugged type, but still would prefer those half in ear types. so been purchasinga few of those like Edifier W220T with all that snapdragon loseless sound and the full AtpX dynamic adaptive codec and yeah..a big hit to the bass.. they were around 40 bucks with incl. 25% VAT. EU. also purchased the Soundpeats Air3 HS deluxe (38USD), and atm looking at these Nothing Ear and the Xiaomi buds 4 that both are significantly more expensive.. but thats my incentive get the best decent half in ear types atm.. that take the leats hit to the soundquality from that variant..as I aitn that fund of that plugged feeling with the silicone type.
As someone who doesn't want ANC, the awful carrying case stops me from considering them. The case design is a cool novelty, but pocketability matters. Personally I don't leave earbuds in constantly so having the case accessible is important.
12:37 Not really. I own both the Nothing 1s and AirPods Pro. Although they are really nice, the Nothings 1s aren’t even half the overall quality of the APPs. Not a surprise since they are half the price. Nevertheless, nice review! Thanks 💜
Damn this was going to be an instant buy for me until you said no ANC :( My ears get extremely irritated by the in canal earphones. The Samsung galaxy buds live were a perfect purchase for me (and I'm looking for a potential upgrade), sure the ANC isn't great because the buds don't isolate completely but it's a massive benefit over not having it at all.
Have you tried over ears? Sure, they're not as portable as TWS, but they'll easily be the most comfortable out of them all, and the ANC will also be unbeatable by any IEM's or earbuds. Sony WH-1000XM4 or XM5 might be worth a try.
@@doqtorisykero7971 yeah this was unfortunately the route I was taking before the Samsung buds Live came out. Now that I have those I'll just buy another pair if they die. No arguments against the pros of over-ears but the weight/comfort with wearing them 70% of the time whilst also not being pocketable doesn't sell them to me
I think it speaks volumes to the culture at LTT that the staff commonly take shots at their boss with no fear of retribution. It suggests an honest and transparent working environment where employees feel they can do and say what they believe is right, rather than what they believe their boss wants to hear or irrationally and unreasonably demands. Well done Linus!
next you guys should really checkout the freebuds 4i from huwawei since it has many of the features of the airpods and in a similar form factor but has way more battery life, i think it could make a cool short circuit episode
Imagine you are camping, you drop your earstick buds and need use the find my setting to find only to discover it sounds like crickets churping like the crickets churping around you.
That case is atrocious from a comfort standpoint, it has a really annoying shape that is both long and pointy, plus you can’t really operate it one-handed. There is a reason everybody else uses the chest-style earbuds cases. Sometimes boring is just better.
“We’ve created a unique and creative case for our wireless earbuds!” Cool! Is it in any way better than the standard that has been set? “Not really, but it looks unique!” Alright, but it’s focused on the high end right? Those people care the most about looks and status. “No, we focused on the midrange. Good looks should be available to everyone!” Alright, that segment is mainly focused on price performance so let’s see. They are an improvement over the previous one right? “No, we had to remove some features to get it to the same price” K
Oh but then I'll get the older version. They're better and the same price! "Sure, but those are 50 bucks more now. You know, because of inflation." Inflation makes your product 150% the original price? "Yeah. Totally."
i bought ear1 and for price that it used to cost, was ok. Problems: loosing connection whenever i was squating for cleaning after my dog on walks and suddenly no music becase my had got low, loosing connection on windy days, right plug once is charging as it should be but sometimes its not - but it shows that battery is full. The worst situations i had...right plug stops to play music - i have to put it into case for a minute or two and after it works for many hours - like somewhere in software there was a glitch. So...good product with the old price - the new one is a bad joke :)
It’s actually so cool to hear from the pixel user that creative people work in Apple. That means something. I personally like recognition when recognition is due. Apple makes sick stuff. Not an Apple user myself, but it just shows that the guys at LTT are open minded, and that’s kinda important when you work in tech coverage media.
I have the ear phone ones, I would expect them to bring the equalizer to the old headphones, but apparently not, bummer. You still have to choose between presets
