@@viloinvictus Whether I or anyone else actually agrees with that or not, voice acting is about more than just having different voices. It's more important that you can actually get inside the character's head and embody them. Putting on a voice is nothing by itself, just a cheap gimmick; just like how full-body acting is about more than just melodramatically crying or throwing a temper tantrum. People respond well to extremes, but it's the subtleties that make or break a performance. Everything else is just an addition. And that's what makes Dante Basco a great VA.
There's nothing wrong with saying that he uses the same voice because the voice acting is the voice and performance. you can use the same voice as long as you're playing a great character some people use different voices and still play a great character. Some people might use different voices but they're acting a still trash.
@@arsyam_7 Right, he wouldnt have known how the moon came back, or who caused it, unless he remembered alot of details about their princess which is doubtful
Haven't finished rewatching the show, but I actually prefer he stays solo. He's like early Bruce Wayne, only attracted to vengeance. People crap on Korra being written worse, but I think the whole franchise is not good with romances.
More or less Depends if you follow the Tumblr comics Oh wait I forgot The creators behind this show want to ruin this show even more with three new movies all dedicated to Korra so Yeah Good luck with Zukos happiness lol 😆 ☺️ 😊 Can't wait for all of you to be like perhaps we were too harsh on Netflix when they want to develop zuko and pay respect to him and Nickeldeon just wants to repeatedly kick him in the
@@roluevasreisa5730The tumblr comics? The promise part two originated on tumblr???? Maybe you're being a bit too heated, We should listen to iroh a bit more
@@michaelandreipalon359that whole show was basically an AU Zutara almost (not quite) considering Rose was voiced by Mae Whitman who also voiced Katara. A bit wild to think about tbh
No... That is *_NOT_* how it works lol. Anime aren't _inspired_ by manga, just most of them are adaptations of certain manga. And manga, _are_ comics💀. Just a different type of comics.@@darkdestroyer4228
@@xShadowChrisxNo no, his line of thought is correct. Manga is both inspired by disney and american comics. Manga took the comic format and tezuka introduced a disney style artstyle to manga, which ended up being the blueprint of the modern contemporary anime style.
The voice actor for Sokka (Jack DeSena) went on to voice Callum from The Dragon Prince. In one episode of The Dragon Prince, Callum has a "transcendent moment" when his character stares at the weapon of another character and, when questioned about why he's staring, he says, "Something seems so strangely familiar ... boomerang?" Brilliant easter egg. It helps that Aaron Ehasz is one of the creators of both shows.
@@toxiclightning5303 Maybe I was That homie because My Brother & I use to did THE EXACT SAME, I still remember how hype I was while watching Assault on Abyssus when it premiered on Cartoon Network 🤗
@@dillontennant908it does take inspiration from Japan, yes, but also the mesoamerican cultures as seen when Zuko and Aang visit the last dragons, and are also based on western imperialism, specifically their technological progress, colonization, and attitude of "expanding the prosperity of the empire."
@@michaelweiske702 the implication that "technological progress [and] colonization" is a purely western thing isn't super accurate considering post-Meiji restoration Imperial Japan, which absolutely fits the bill. With regards to technology, industrialized Japan (around the late 1800s) was vastly more powerful than its Asian neighbors due to its technological superiority, and was even able to defeat the (arguably) European and "western" power of Russia in the Russo-Japanese war from 1904-1905 using superior naval technology. Moreover, the industrialized military of Imperial Japan was able to conquer nearby Asian states; consider the occupation of Manchuria, the annexation of Korea, and the more general imperial ambition of the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere. The ability to commit great evil in the name of imperialism is (unfortunately) not limited to European or "western" powers, and features quite prominently in the history of the Empire of Japan.
If your wondering for the Jigme part, I am tibetan and basically China took over tibet and Tibet really wanted to play football. So finally, they had a soccer team and played against Denmark. My dad was in that soccer game! :)
I always felt like Boondocks and Avatar had a very similar art style. Can you imagine the characters interacting? Riley and Toph arguing would be hilarious
Another dante basco anecdote So he played rufio in hook, Rufio was then adapted into a character named rufioh in the webcomic homestuck, whose author was/is friends with dante Dante even voiced rufioh in a voice acted fan project, and starred in a fan music video
LOL joke's on Dante even if he doesn't actually hate Chinese people because Dallas Liu who plays him in the Netflix live action adaptation is of Chinese descent
Zuko voice actor as plays a high school kid in Cartoon Network movie Firebreather. He gets jealous in the movie because his best friend has a crush on the half dragon kid new kid and he liked her first
Got to meet him this last weekend at Planet Comicon and he's just as chill IRL as Zuko in the first clip so it's extra hilarious hearing him in the second clip
I love Dante Basco. 😂 I never knew he was a voice actor. I first found out about him on But I'ma Cheerleader, then found out he was Jake from American Dragon, and played in blood and bone
Ohh man i remember being caught so fxckin off guard once i heard Dante's voice like "Wait..Zuko?!" that entire Boondocks ep 'The Red Ball' was hilarious af esp Jenny dancing & Huey responding in Mandarin to the players talking sh1t about him🤣
The German voice actor for zuko also is the voice for Howard wolowitz from the big bang theory. Which at first sounds stupid but I think he's a brilliant voice actor and plays both roles perfectly
I keep getting phishing calls from "the Chinese embassy" next one I get I was going to say "free Tibet" or "Taiwan is an independent nation" but now I might use this line.
Every time I find dante basco in a new past role I get so much whiplash. Dude has so much range I'm still reeling over accidentally seeing him in "but I'm a cheerleader" like a month ago
